All I'm hoping for is a user replaceable 18650!! Don't need the additional wattage, not a cloud chaser/sub-ohmer, and have never gone above 10w with a KFL on this or my SiD! Been looking at the SVD 2.0 but with the MVP3 due any day, I'll wait it out haha. Mines only like 2 months old and still the best mod ive got, I wanted a backup and go figure they announced the 3 like 2 weeks after I got mine so I have to wait and see!

My MVP2 has been demoted to backup since I got my istick. Now that I have a rDNA 40 and Hana clone inbound, I decided to fix the reason it was relegated to backup.

The 510 just sucks. The threads are still fine but I was annoyed with the center pin even after installing a #60 o-ring (which came in handy for other things). I left a KF on it and vape it once in a while but my istick is my go-to now.

A couple of weeks ago, I ordered some VariTube 510 connectors with spring loaded center pins. Very nice. I decided to replace the 510 on the MVP2 with a VT 510. I saw a few guys that did this and post pics but instructions weren't very good. I have the connector out and found out that I can tap the MVP top cap so I can just screw on the VT 510 rather than drill out the sleeve and use a nut to hold the 510 on. I stopped because I ordered a m10 x .5 tap so when that comes in, I'll be able to finish.

In the meantime, here's some teasers...

Old connector on the left, VT 510 on the right (messed up the Di-Noc wrap around the button. Too lazy to fix it for now)

So you can only change one, and the MVP does the rest? Hmmm...I did not realize that. I am glad I found it's happy range. It is a 1.8 coil, but the MVP 2 says it is 1.9 for some odd reason.

Yup. The setting is based on which button you configured last (right side watts, left side volts)

The readings of the coils may vary ever so slightly. 1.8 ohms could be 1.85 which might round up to 1.9. Also, as you use the coil, it will gunk up a bit, and that also increases resistance. Depending on how long you use it, you should see the resistance rise.

I build my coils for my ProTank2s. I was running a chocolate/mint juice on it for a while, and I could tell it was getting gunky because the 1.8 ohm coil I'd built was starting to read about 2.1 and the flavor was muted and the draw was tight. I was able to pull the wick and dry-burn it. Landed right back at 1.8. Threw in some fresh cotton and I was off to the races again :) Darker, sweeter juices gunk my coils a lot faster.

There's too much involved in trying to rebuild the Nautilus coils, so I'm willing to dispose and replace with factory. I am using my PT2s much more often because I can rebuild. The Nautis I use for a treat (and typically clearer juices)

Well Boba's Bounty is not a clear juice, pretty dark if you ask me. I put a little high VG in there, and ever since I did, the draw has not been as good. I just started vaping 2 weeks ago, so I still have a lot to learn about this stuff. Thanks for your thoughts, it was very helpful to me.

Any time :) I don't know a lot, but if I have something I can share, I will!

I don't typically do tobacco-flavored juices, but I looked at a clone recipe, and there's obviously tobacco flavor in there :)

To the newer folks?

Don't be slow to change coils. Compared to what smoking costs, coils are cheap. If you want to learn to rebuild, that's up to you and cheaper... but a good vape is what you want/need when you first quit - as soon as the flavor mutes, or the draw gets tight, toss the coil for fresh. I vape different vanilla flavors - hard on coils - and I get bout 10-14 days out of my BVC coils. Could go longer, but why? Life is too short for anything but a perfect vape.

Should an MVP ever have a red light when you plug it in?
Couple weeks ago I had problems with mine. Seemed to be overcharged. Would not work at all. Plugged my phone into it and it charged it for a minute and then did a light show and nothing since then.
Put it aside and got out my back up and left it be.
Today I tried to turn it on just to see what would happen. Nothing. Plugged it in and it lights up red

I have been vaping for a year and I have really noticed the increase in chips. Along with electronics, comes features the require a book to understand. I remember the single button, then it was a small menu, then 3 buttons and now it is three buttons and a menu...

I just read that MODs will be Bluetooth capable to interact with a computer...just so I can track how many puffs I do at different locations in my house.

(sigh)

If you have an 1.8 ohm coil, at what point do you change it, 2.2? The MVP 2 says it is fluctuating at 1.9-2.0. Sometimes it reads one or the other. I have had the coil in now since Monday.

kkay, does your flavor/vapor seem lessened? If so, that's probably time to change the coil. Everyone gets different life from a coil. Mine might be able to last a couple of days or even up to a week. Depends on the juice you're vaping and how frequently (and how high volts/watts you're hitting.) If I remember, you're about 8-9 watts (which is not overly high) I usually go by the flavor or tightness of the draw. I noticed it the other day with one tank I was using. Just seemed tight and the flavor was meh.

Sure enough (it's one of my kangers that I rebuild) the coils were coated with residue and the wick was filthy. Changed it out, and voila, I was back in flavortown :)

That's perfectly normal. I don't think the reader is super accurate, and after making enough coils myself, they never come out exact. In fact none of my stock Kanger 1.8s ever read 1.8 either. They were the same, 1.9-2.0 every time.

as some one mentioned, even kanger 1.8 coils do not read 1.8 all the time either.

from personal experience - when i put a fresh coil in, il have the mvp read it so i know what the "base value" was before i used it. after a few days or a week of use(depends on situation) il keep checking the resistance. once it goes up .2 i change it. tho i can say, i should change coils more frequently.

Hi Y'all. I just got a MVP2. Y'all mind if I just sit in here a spell and learn some things? I've had the doggone thing for about 3 days now and still too chicken to use it.

Welcome aboard. Turn it on, turn it down, and vape.

Yes, the flavor has lessened. So I decided to change the coil, upon your advise. It had instantly better taste. After I primed it, it said 1.8 on the coil again. Right after that, it went back to a 1.9 again. I think that Boba's Bounty is a little thick, and it is going to read that. I went up slowly on the watts too, starting low, and working my way up. I was told these coils last about two weeks, depending on how much you vape it. I guess it will last me maybe 4 days, before changing it. That will be fairly expensive, since they don't give these coils away. Maybe I should look into rebuildables. I never thought I would even entertain that idea. I love the Nautilus Mini though. Much better than my other two tanks. I saw a video on how to rebuild the coil. It isn't as much work as I thought it would be. I will mull this over. Thank you so very much for your suggestions. Without the MVP 2 telling me what was going on, I would not be able to make this decision. I love this device, I mean LOVE IT!!!
