I don't know if that's the kind my ex mother in law has or not, but you might could still get that kind. Is that a photo of an antique or a reproduction/modern thing?

That's a photo I grabbed of a vintage Silex brand. Yep, I know you can still buy modern vacuum coffee makers, but then that would cut into my vape budget.

And since it's still snowing - I suppose I'll look for the driveway in the morning.

Absolutely beautiful. Really is pretty but, I can understand why you want it gone. It's much worse here, at least your area has some expertise in snow management.
In Hampton it's

Sent while sitting on my busted ..... Stay off the ice if you can't skate. I can't and didn't.

My Mom had one of these. As a kid I was fascinated by it, but she only used it when company came over for dinner. Too bad it 'disappeared' over the years - it would be cool to have today.

I'm pretty sure they still make those. I'm also just as sure they're expensive.

A new Yama stovetop vacuum brewer can be had for as little as $35. I don't know if you can use glass cookware on an induction stove-top though.

----------> drags up onto the porch and plops in a rocker...................

There wasn't a lot of flying done yesterday in spite of the beautiful weather. It didn't get beautiful until the afternoon. Fog was a beast until it burned off around noon. We packed six helicopters into the hangar last night in anticipation of 30 to 40 mph wind gust in advance of this latest winter freak. Our area manager came around for a visit. I always enjoy his visits. He tells good stories. He told us not to run over him on our way out...........that meant........get the hell out of dodge early!! YEAH!!

It was still 70 degrees when I got home this morning around 1am and it was stuffy in the house. I just turned on the ceiling fan, though, because I knew what was coming. Sure enough around 2ish or so, the rain came, along with gusty winds, and the temperature dropped. Both of my little animals acted like they wanted to go outside, so I opened the door. They saw the rain and both of them looked at me like, "Really? Ma! Really???". They both turned around and came right back in. It was too funny.

I do NOT envy you guys up north and elsewhere that are snowbound. But, at least you have some sort of consistency. Bouncing from 30 degrees to 70 degrees and then back again is just NOT my idea of fun. However, I am blessed. I have shelter. I have food. And my fur babies were all about snuggling when I finally dragged myself to bed. Ah.....nothing like home!!

The horrifying part of the tale was when you had to make the long drive home without being able to vape.

Good evening Ladies and Germs
Someone very famous said that. I can't remember who.
Not that I have any problems with my memory.

In fact, once, I earned two prizes: one for my good memory,
the other, i don't remember why.

Everybody with me so far?. Good.

1- I don't understand this part of the forum. It's just my old age. I'm not old.
2- How can I post and individual post here. Like "I like Tango" for instance.
3- How can I thank my "old" (as in long friendship) and my new friends here.

Let's take an example. I want to reply to Iffy some comment he made about me, for instance.
I'm not dumb (but close) enough to know I can PM him. What if I want to do it publicly in the forum.
4- Why do I spend so much time typing in ECF if I have so many things to do. Risking marriage BTW.

I have a good story about my visit to the eye doctor today. What to do???
I would like to name my post "Eye doctor Visit" by elby. How?.
Do I type like the madman I am? Just Cuz. Or there's some "how to" guide here.

I was born confused and this ain't helping. And my point is?

I'm glad to be home too, Deb. There's just nothing like being able to roll around home in some old sweat pants and battered t-shirt and no shoes and watching the cat and the dog tussle.

I really DO love my job. I have a strange love for those crazy helicopters. I've gotten to know what makes 'em tick and do what they do. They never cease to fascinate me, and I never get tired of watching them fly.

That was a dumb mistake on my part. I had packed up all the vape gear and the coil I was using was on its last leg. I was just so happy to be on the way home that I just didn't feel like stopping the car of the side of the road to get another setup. I just drank a boatload of water on the way home. That was a LONG 3 hour drive!!

Hey, you should be doing a dance and patting yourself on the back - at least you did not stop and pick up a pack of smokes... :toast:

Carlos;
Some forums of this general variety allow a person to change the subject line when responding to a post. If this forum has a way to do that, I don't know what it is. The only way I know of to start a new topic is to go to The Lounge and start a new topic, in which case many of us here would never see it, simply because this forum is so huge that many of us don't wander around much.

If it's any consolation, you have a good number of readers here on the Back Porch, as do we all, regardless of subject matter.
