Good evening Ladies and Germs
Someone very famous said that. I can't remember who.
Not that I have any problems with my memory.

I was born confused and this ain't helping. And my point is?

Milton Berle...you didn't really have a point, mi hermano.
You just wanted to say "Hey"...or ¿Que bolá?

The folks here don't need much run around to be friendly
and ask ya to sit and take the load off.
Pull up a rocker and
Rock on,

Hazy :2cool:

Carlos;
Some forums of this general variety allow a person to change the subject line when responding to a post. If this forum has a way to do that, I don't know what it is. The only way I know of to start a new topic is to go to The Lounge and start a new topic, in which case many of us here would never see it, simply because this forum is so huge that many of us don't wander around much.

If it's any consolation, you have a good number of readers here on the Back Porch, as do we all, regardless of subject matter.

I'm sorry, I know you mean well.
Can I be a little more confused please?. Thank you.

I'm the king of "the lounge". In fact, I posted today about Lady Ga Ga and myself,
and it ended up in there. Methinks Robin is not a fan of Lady Ga Ga,
but I could be wrong, yet again. I CMA right now, those 20 days s.... are not of my likin'.

Anyway, or anyways, I'll keep being here as a silent member until I learn the ropes.
Or hang myself with 'em.

Thank you and be safe,

elby

Someone very famous said that. I can't remember who.
Not that I have any problems with my memory.

In fact, once, I earned two prizes: one for my good memory,
the other, i don't remember why.

Everybody with me so far?. Good.

1- I don't understand this part of the forum. It's just my old age. I'm not old.
2- How can I post and individual post here. Like "I like Tango" for instance.
3- How can I thank my "old" (as in long friendship) and my new friends here.

Let's take an example. I want to reply to Iffy some comment he made about me, for instance.
I'm not dumb (but close) enough to know I can PM him. What if I want to do it publicly in the forum.
4- Why do I spend so much time typing in ECF if I have so many things to do. Risking marriage BTW.

I have a good story about my visit to the eye doctor today. What to do???
I would like to name my post "Eye doctor Visit" by elby. How?.
Do I type like the madman I am? Just Cuz. Or there's some "how to" guide here.

I was born confused and this ain't helping. And my point is?

The easiest is to click on "Reply with Quote" for the post Iffy made the comment about you

Elby asked: I would like to name my post "Eye doctor Visit" by elby. How?.

Click on the 'Go Advanced' at the bottom of the new post box. On the Advanced Screen you can add 'name' for you post in the Title box at the top of the post form.

Yep, just a bunch of laid back folks comfortable on this here porch enjoying each others simple company and short yarns...

Hi, Semi.
I must ask you, does semiretired mean eventually you'll drop the semi and turn into retired1?

LOL...sorry, couldn't help myself. ;)
I'm gonna have to get busy and give my teak rockers another coat of oil.

Please pass the pecan cookies.
Regards,

Hazy :2cool:

Bells - thought of you straight away when I say this picture.

19.100-plus-year-old-coffee-machine.jpg

Darn! I thought it was a prototype 100 megajoule mod!!

I'm glad to be home too, Deb. There's just nothing like being able to roll around home in some old sweat pants and battered t-shirt and no shoes and watching the cat and the dog tussle.

I really DO love my job. I have a strange love for those crazy helicopters. I've gotten to know what makes 'em tick and do what they do. They never cease to fascinate me, and I never get tired of watching them fly.

Hah, they don't fly, they beat the air into submission!

Fora in the "lounge" area aren't restricted to vaping. So the Back Porch, in the lounge, it pretty much a friendly free-for-all. Fora NOT in the lounge are more closely "monitored" by our friendly unpaid Moderators to stay at least somewhat on the topic(s) of vaping and things related. The Front Porch is in that category.

Uh, don't risk the marriage on OUR account!

And if it doesn't risk the marriage, tell the eye doc story here :)

Woman, so glad you were able to scoot out early. Yep, sure is nice to be home and I bet your fur babies were thrilled to see you. Too funny about them wanting to know what's up with the rain!

{{{Semi}}}, I know I yelled when I saw you were back and read all the welcome back posts and can't remember if I ever told you

Not as long as I am married and she keeps adding to my honey doo lists...

Oh, you have a slave driver with a sweet whip too.
You want two of those?..take 2, they're small.

I'm not retired or semi, I'm just tired...

Just acquired some peaches and cream juice.
Doncha know I'll be mixing a bit of that
with a bit of butter pecan??

Uh oh, glass bottle. Better hide it from the honey dew...

I've been having fun with house things - the previous owner's deferred maintenance has all been coming due. But right now I'm feeling guilty about the poor heating guy. My (very) elderly furnace has been requiring manual restarts. Not a big deal if getting down to the basement wasn't such a big deal for me.

This guy works alone, in addition to farming, and has been pretty busy. But he's also been trying to save me money by not just throwing parts at it, so he's been back a couple of times in addition to also replacing my water heater. He also has four kids playing in three separate (girls, young boys and high school boys) state hockey tournaments this week.

So, today he drove 70 miles to Fargo for hockey game one and picked up two parts for my furnace while he was there. He then came by about six this evening to replace said parts, but decided that he was really sure it was only the controller, not the relay. But told me to call him tonight if it tripped again, since he was going to be at hockey game two but had to leave at seven tomorrow morning for hockey game three.

Of course it tripped again, and the poor guy is going to stop by after the hockey game tonight to put the relay in. Actually, he gave me the choice of either eleven tonight, six tomorrow morning, or late tomorrow night. Now the only time I ever see six in the morning is when I stay up that late, so that was out, and I really am getting tired of going down and up the stairs, so tonight it is. But he was all worried that it would be too late for me.

Ya gotta figure that I am the original, all my life, night owl. Years ago my daughter got me a bumper sticker that read "Not a Morning Person Doesn't Begin to Describe It." But I'm sure he just saw this fat old broad in poor health, and figured that I go to bed at nine or so. :D

Hey Hazy,

I'm a total disappointment, man. I haven't learn a bit of the info you sent me.
Next year will come and I'll be saying: Feliz Ano Nuevo.

Not all is lost yet. Que bola mi socio.
Very very nice chatting with 'ya.

elby (notice I'm not plain Carlos anymore.)
I'm elby now. Not as good as Hazy though, but it is what it is.

A fellow resident of the Looney Bin baptized me with that name.
I'm somebody now. No poca mier.., but mucha mier..
I think the Native Americans are in the right.
Naming newborns is a mistake. I think a child needs to develop
before acquiring a name. Meantime the can be "son #1, #2. daughter #3 etc.

If I ever father a child again (God forbids) it will be named at drinking age.
I won't be here, but I'll be watching.
He or she will drink fer sure. Hijo de gato.....
I'll let you be for now. we will chat tomorrow, fer sure.
