Don't know how you managed on one of the minis. That would make me crazy.
I just got 3 chipped off keys replaced and it really does make a difference! I can't watch my fingers when I type, but ask me to pick out where one of the letters is and I really gotta think about it. My nails aren't long, but I must still be hard on the keys because this is the 2nd time I've had to have some replaced and Mike hasn't had to. Still think it has something to do with the way the keys are made - couldn't be me! Anyway, this time I got a skin for the keys to protect them. They're pink! I have a pink keyboard! Didn't see that coming, but I like it.
Heh... *I* don't know how I typed on that thing for 2 yrs, or how my husband stood my b*tching about it, either.

Last night I was ranting about it and he's like, hey, we got this state tax refund, we'll go get you another! It's still not a "full-sized standard Dell keyboard", but I guess if it was, it wouldn't have been $3.99, either.
I've typed the letters off about 6 or 8 keyboards now; my nails are hard as diamonds, and they grow long so fast, it seems inevitable. I don't bother fixing the keys anymore, I just toss 'em and go get another -- they're not $50 anymore!
Not sure how much I really like this one, but maybe it's because I had two yrs to get used to that itty bitty one; also this one is much quieter, and I dunno, I kinda like the typing racket -- my mom used to bring her office IBM selectric home to finish work, so I got used to rackety typing pretty young. Now the loudest sound is my stupid nails banging the keys!

You're right, my fingers know where the keys are, but when you're hunting, to try and fix a typo, and the letters aren't there... how frustrating! I'd keep hitting "U" over and over, trying to find the "I", which had probably been gone for over a year.
