Damn, now that I got thinking about that time period.... I got my first traffic ticket driving Bob's car. He had a Gremlin and I burned tires for about half a block leaving a stop sign.

Looked in the rear view and saw a cop about three blocks back flick on the lights and start coming for us.

Took off like we didn't see him and turned the next left, spotted a house with the garage door open so pulled in and slammed the garage door. You can tell it was a long time ago because we didn't get shot. Don't think anyone was home. In those days you didn't even lock the house when you went somewhere. Sat in the car not making a sound for about 1/2 an hour. Great, we got away with it!

Rolled up the garage door to leave and the cop was sitting on the hood of his car eating his lunch and waiting for us.

Made us pull the car out and park it on the side of the road. Arrested us both and took us to the police station. This was in Ormond Beach, FL. Called our parents and made them come get us. Gave me two tickets, one for reckless driving and one for driving without an accompanying adult. I was 15 years old at the time and only had a learners permit. That required a licensed driver over 21 in the car with you and Bob was only sixteen. I think they gave him a ticket too but, I can't remember what for. Went to court and got probation. Go my azz beat at home so that was worse. Also think they restricted me for a month and said I couldn't hang out with Bob. That didn't work because he started going to church with us on Sundays so, of course he was considered a "good kid" then. We were all pretty much juvenile delinquents back then but, it was nothing like it is today. We all were really basically good kids, just did a lot of typically stupid "kid stuff."
