Looks like its headed our way...NOAA just put out a warning of 25mph sustained and gusts to 44mph for at least an hour.......

Knots is Nautical Miles Per Hour. A nautical mile is an even 2000 yards. Makes a heck of a lot more sense than the weird random number of feet in a statue mile.

I wasn't saying that miles is a more logical measurement than nautical miles; I was just saying that miles is what I'm more familiar with. But, a nautical mile is not 2000 yards; it's 2025 yards.
I don't know whether Mike's and Janet's grandson is statute or nautical.

Wow, sure does! Is it my imagination, or are the eagles and eaglets on all of these sites quite aware of where the cameras are? It sure seems like they look right at the cameras a lot.

20 years in the Navy as a navigational specialisttype and we always said it was 2000 yards. Mmmmmm.
