Since I have never disclosed my age, nor do I plan to, the Mystery That Is Who Is the Oldest Oldster (MTIWITOO) shall remain, er, a mystery .. but hey, who's counting anyway .. ?? Are we not all supposed to be Young At Heart .. ?? In fact, I look in the mirror and tell my Ticker that everyday .. ;) .. not that he listens ..

It's funny how you can get attached to something .. for a good long time, this Thread in it's continued incarnations was what I would consider my Home Away From Home .. a comfortable place to put your feet up and share our stories .. a place that held great joy at times, and great loss and sadness at other times .. Sometimes, I think about those that have come and gone and I wonder what they are up to now ..

Things evolve, things change, that's life .. I'd like to take a moment and share a little about a person we lost last year, because, you see, what I feel is one of the most important things is the Digital History .. a legacy, if you will, that lives on in bits and bytes ..

I've been meaning to put this in since last month ..

Deborah Ann (Debbie) age 58, died at a local hospital on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 .. She was born on Oct. 9, 1956, in New Haven, CT .. She married her High School Sweetheart Don, in Pawtucket, RI on April 3, 1976 ..

Following graduation she worked as a long distance telephone operator, until her unique gift for creative crafting took hold. Upon arriving in Maine in 1989, she regularly attended and offered her crafts at the County Craft Show and the Fair for over 20 years. She was a member of the United Maine Craftsmen and the Society of Southern Maine Craftsmen. Although her crafts were an important part of her life, her true passion was her family. She was a member of St. John’s Church, and had spent time earlier in life fundraising for the American Cancer Society. Above all else, she lived life in each moment and practiced appreciating her loved ones every day — an example she hoped they will continue to share.

She is survived by her husband, Don, two sons, Christopher and Nicholas two daughters, Erin and Shannon, 13 grandchildren, with the 14th expected in weeks.

So, if I am able to impart anything here, it's this .. to you new folks, who most don't want to take the time to learn the rich History that we've woven since the beginning, that's OK .. but stick around and maybe, just maybe, there will be some left that remember you .. speaking as a guy that does not have a great amount of Human legacy left these days, it used to be very important to me, and I guess it still is .. why else would I still be here .. ?? It's changed, it's evolved, it's not just the older crowd anymore .. I suppose you young whippersnappers have a place, just stay off my recliner .. :) ..

So, raise a glass today for Debbie, AKA my4jewels .. Classic Margarita, on the rocks please, salt the rim and put on some Toby Keith ..

Soooo miss her. She was still pretty active here when I first came here.

1956, a very special year. The year I was born.
If you are referring to Lulu's physical age....most likely, but.....if you're referring to who has been with these threads the longest of our surviving members.....that would be Uncle Willie, who has been here from the first day that Randall started them........;)

Actually, he's not the only one that posted on the first day. The others?

mattiem, MikeE3, Semiretired, tj99959, VapRon, Iffy, Tiny, Janet H, wendallb, sandybeach, classwife, n9emz, Gadd, wyojoe, bobalex, and Richie G.

I actually didn't post for a long time. I was a bit gun-shy after the way the other Old Folks thread had ended. Then 2 new porces opened up at the same time. I kinda felt like I was having to take sides. So, I got weally, weally quiet for a long time.

I did not go looking for everyone that had posted that day......a number of those you've mentioned are long gone from the porch, some have left the forum entirely, others were infrequent posters and at least one of those you've named has passed.....the very first post, after Txtumbleweed's, was posted by whom on the link I provided ?

And to all our past and 'missing' porchers!

Willie, another memorable tribute! Glad you are our porch historian. So many experiences; sharing laughs, joys and the tears...

The roots and background (i.e the people) of this thread laid the foundation for the wonderful place it is today. People come, people go, people pass on, but there's a continuity of loving and caring on the porch that is no where else on ECF, or at least I haven't found it.

I really appreciate your ramblings and 'look backs' to our past. I still think often of people that dropped off the porch after being here awhile. I hope they're doing fine. And for those that passed on, I'm thankful for having known them and will never forget them.

She was a wonderful person, with lots of love for her family. She is missed.

So well expressed, Mike!

Yea, I remember me and her researching pyrex tubes to see if we could cut our own tanks and what it would take to polish them and make them usable - about that time they started hitting the market and we dropped our effort researching how to make them...

Same, with the coffee extracts - it was her husband's go to vape and was mine for quite a while until I got tired of how quickly it gunked up coils...

Ah yes, da 'birthing pangs'. Just glad dat we survived da 'early years'!

I never got to know her well, and I once hurt her feelings. Never got to apologize. :(

Ya just did, Sweetheart! Besides, I can't recall her ever posting a negative post unless it was 'bout equipment/joose.

Yes, she still is our porch Jewel!!!

Agreed! T'wasn't pleasant 'tween times then. But that's what makes the porches so special since. We've pretty much have avoided the same 'unfortunate events' of the past, thanx to Randall (TX)!!!

I just wish I had the capability to fully express my love and gratitude for our 'family'!

Well finally got an xray today so will find out tomorrow maybe. My Grandaughter got to laughin so hard today because all my bionic parts are falling apart. Last night got a tough piece of bacon and lost a tooth in my denture. Lucky enough I noticed it right away and made myself erp it back up. Got it reglued today for 50bucks. Hopefully by next friday I'll have a permanent right leg again. Now my heearing aids aren't working right have to get to the VA. I'll never get in the ear ones again. If I make it to 5 years I will get some real good behind the ear ones again. Checked on new dentures since I've had these for about 20 years and to my surprise I get a 20% discount on them at this place for being a Vet so $1050 for a full set of new teeth. An old friend called me last night he is 3 older then me at 69. He just got his all pulled and new dentures but he said the dentist tried to talk him into getting 4 implants and teeth that attached $51000. Needless to say he told them forget it, he's 69 years old and he ain't puttin that kind of money in his mouth. Dentists are far bigger crooks then doctors ever thought of being.

I got a bottle of super glue I can send ya if it will help...
Actually have a friend with a full rack of dentures. Lost a tooth and the dentist glued it back in. Three weeks later out it fell again. He went out to my toolbox and got a tube of Super Glue Gel. We dried it good with a heat gun, he glued the tooth in. That was six years ago. No problems since. Never knock Superglue. They actually use a version of it in surgical procedures to both glue wounds together and even strengthen arteries to prevent embolisms. Pretty cool stuff.

I can bring a can of 100% Columbian from COSTCO. While I'm not a coffee drinker, Doree is and she swears by it.
Yes, definitely! I don't know how much coffee we'll consume during the week, but 4 lbs should do for a few days.

Pat, just think; new leg by Friday, new hearing aids, and the bonus of 20% off your dentures......I am so hoping that all of this transpires very soon so that you can have some degree of comfort!
Thinking good thoughts and a prayer or two sent your way!

Thank you for that lovely post Willie. Jewels was always there with help and encouragement back when we were all getting started with vaping. I remember being so nervous about trying to make our own juice. She was such a calm, encouraging influence for me that I took heart and found out that it really wasn't as scary as I thought it was going to be. All of us were searching for what device and juice worked for us and talking about all the new gear that was hitting the market constantly.

Sometimes she'd disappear for awhile as she worked to get her jewelry ready for the annual show. She so looked forward to it and spending time with her fellow artisans. I always thought it would be nice to make one of her craft shows.

Her dedication to her family was touching and how they made out during the Maine snows. And I remember waiting to find out what they decided to name her new pup. Tegan.

We found out so much about her life as we commiserated about vaping. That was the common thread that brought us together and it blossomed into friendships that we never would have had a chance to know. I feel blessed to have known Jewels as well as so many others who have touched my life on this vaping journey, and for the opportunity to meet them via ECF.

So you're saying the 6 million dollar man has been hit by inflation?
