My oldest brother saved and saved and finally saved up enough to but a Sony Trinitron TV back when they were the best you could buy. Brought it home and as soon as he plugged it in the house got struck by lightning smoking the set. He almost cried then threw it back in the box and took it back. Told them it didn't work right outta the box and they just gave him a new one. Lucky.

Update, my ham string is healing nicely with most of my mobility back. Am dealing with swelling and bruising on my left foot which is aggravating at da least.

Lil' side story, one of my sons-in-law recommended a cleaning/health care lady to assist Patty and I. Well, what a lil' dynamo dis lil' older black lady is! Can hardly believe what she did for our kitchen...

We were chatting about her background and Joyce said, "All my life, I just wanted to be middle class. But most of my life I wasn't even poor... just po'!" She's a true keeper! IOW, blessings, count 'em...

So glad to hear your hamsting is healing! Be careful till the swelling in that ankle goes down. You don't want to end up with a permanent cankle! Fantastic finging a great helper! Mom had a lady for just over a year that insisted on doing my room & bath as well as the rest of the apartment. My sister pays for the service to make Mom do her exercises, & go for walks, & "light housekeeping". But this lady stayed busy, busy the whole 4 hours a week she was here. She cleaned top to bottom, inside & out! Mom was refusing any exercise at all at the time 'tho, so she had to have something to do i guess. I know I got spoiled!

For me...taking a nap just means I'll be awake for the next 12 hours. Best thing I've found is to stay up later than my body wants to, so that I'm able to sleep later. doesn't always work though...:(
Same here. Naps keep me from sleeping later. Staying up past the time for a good nap just means I get my second wind and stay up past any reasonable bedtime.

Wasn't feeling good about an hour ago and thought I would just go ahead and go to bed. Of course, wide awake the minute my head hit the pillow. So using good sense I went ahead and got back up. I've learned over the last few months to just do what my body tells me to do. It's been working pretty well. Still have some problems sleeping but, not nearly as often as I was. Of course listening to that great Boogy Woogy Bob just posted woke my ... up good. Been some great music posted today. Hopefully i will be recovered from my travels tomorrow and can get to work. Glad to hear your recovering nicely Iffy and hopefully the new "assistant" will relieve you of some of the load around the house. See you all in the morning.:)

Problem with surge protectors is... not all are created equal.

And there is the crux of it. They're not all created equal.

Tripp-Lite Isobars are some of the best consumer grade suppressors available... pricey, but good. And if you'll look closely at them (I went to amazon), you'll notice that Tripp-Lite prints "suppressor" on their devices, but Amazon labels them "protectors" on their website.

So IMO, a big part of the problem is in the labeling... the wording is not standardized nor regulated in any way that I know of. Most are really surge 'suppressors', not surge 'protectors' - as in absolutely protected. They help suppress typical surges and spikes from motors and such, but a close lightning strike is hard to stop.

Manufacturers want to sell their stuff, some of it junk, so some will use the word 'protector' on the label to make people believe their product will totally prevent lightning damage - they won't.

Kinda like how the average consumer sees a product labeled 'water resistant' and thinks 'water proof'.

The better suppressors will have a rating on the package, measured in joules - the higher the better - and most retailers will tell you at least 400 is "good", and over 600 is better. Tripp-Lite Isobars are rated in the 1000s of joules.

Yep it will print with only either one. I am printing with a dead color cart right now as my new carts will not be in till Wed. They are in Chattanooga now according to tracking.

I use it for making copies more than printing from PC.

Like I say if you want higher res color get the 4520. Just another $5 I think.

and I haven an Envy 5536 that I paid $120 for... It works great, and you can even send your prints to it through e-mail.

Robert, Ken ... thanks for you help. My daughter order the HP Envy 4520. I think she found it on Amazon for $83 w/ free shipping. It met all her 'wants' in a printer particularly less than $100.

Kinda new here. I'm familiar with the one out front, but not back here.

I'm still amazed you've been hanging on the front porch for so long and didn't know we had back porch. Geez ... so glad you finally made it here.

I don't have any real input regarding a new printer, other than.....I've not had good luck with HP products.....printers or computers......YMMV....:(

and for me .... I've had nothing but HP printers and got decent use and lifetime from them. I've still got 2 older ones around that work ... just got a new one a year or 2 ago because I wanted a copier function. Oh wait ... nope my 1st printer was and Epson Dot Matrix Printer.

3:08 (my fav centerfire caliber) and I'm up already!

Golly ... be glad your fav round isn't a 2:23

Mike...I was ill for a few weeks and couldn't eat...had to force myself...till i finally went to the Dr. and got a "script for antibiotics. Please go get some meds to kick this thing in the ....!!!!

I've been on AugMentin since last Thursday ... it ain't kickin' .... w/ respect to whatever bug I've got. Got a call from Dr's today ... results from throat swap says I don't have strep. I knew that ... I've had step before and what I have now aint' strep. Crikes ... I though I was on the mend for sure today ... then tonight just reading porch posts I'm breaking out into a sweat ... hoping the fever ain't coming back.

hmmm? Maybe some Honey Jack ... let the alcohol disinfect my body.

What's weird is my phone, Bluetooth earpiece, & lamp are all plugged into the same protector, but the laptop is the only thing to get popped.
