OK, after 2.5 days trying to catch up, I finally did.

First off, a grand ol' phart welcome to dose dat phinally phound their way to da back porch! Ain't no place like home...

Nixin' my tagged quotes, gotta say dat sum pholk REALLY need a Southern cook (except pher oysters on da half shell, don't need no stinkin' cook!) Just can't believe da bad mouthin' of sum of my phav cravings!

Goin' by memory:

Russ, so help me, your sit rep is tearin' me apart! If I can help, just let me know...

Matt, ya had my prayers wid ya on your trek back up north.

Deb, being a sub-sib, let me know when ya want to traipse ol' Rte 66 (bucket list item).

Cathy, so proud of you and G! Sorry to miss ya. Hopefully I'll be in better shape fer Tampa. And sorry 'bout your friends loss!

Geno (aka 'bean), luv'd your menu!

Kay, atta boy girl!

Sandra, soooo disappointed in da lack of bootie evidence!

Happy birthaversary to this week's porchers!

Update, my ham string is healing nicely with most of my mobility back. Am dealing with swelling and bruising on my left foot which is aggravating at da least.

Lil' side story, one of my sons-in-law recommended a cleaning/health care lady to assist Patty and I. Well, what a lil' dynamo dis lil' older black lady is! Can hardly believe what she did for our kitchen...

We were chatting about her background and Joyce said, "All my life, I just wanted to be middle class. But most of my life I wasn't even poor... just po'!" She's a true keeper! IOW, blessings, count 'em...

Good to hear you're mending.

This is the weirdest sickness. I got it Friday - 5 days ago. Why did I get a 99.6 fever tonight? It just doesn't want to go away!! And my throat is still sore. Arrrrrrrgh!

Iffy, glad to see you back and I think the housekeeper is a fantastic idea! I hope you keep her. What a difference it will make in your life.

Happy Birthday 3MG and Dano!! It's only Tuesday, hope I didn't miss it! And welcome to the back porch Dano.

I watched it...it's not for me....sorry. I love the song....the man has a great voice... but that presentation was too dark and depressing to me......

I thought so too, but if I closed my eyes and just listened I liked it much better. He has such a powerful voice and his rendition was very interesting. The guy who sent me the video this morning said he didn't like the guys other stuff, but enjoyed this one. I'd never heard of him.

Ah, but the song itself is dark and depressing. :)
"The Sound Of Silence"

Hello darkness, my old friend,
I've come to talk with you again,
Because a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping,
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence.

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone,
'Neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence.

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence.

"Fools," said I, "You do not know.
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you.
Take my arms that I might reach you."
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made.
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming.
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
And whispered in the sounds of silence."

Thanks. Sad to say, no. In spite of their having maintained an armed truce for years, I really expected Nerm to show some sign that something was missing. He doesn't, but he can only be what he is.
Nermal...from my recent
You're not paying attention Pat.... that stuff makes me want something other than food.............;)

I know the lyrics....I prefer to pull myself up out of depression instead of drowning myself in it....sorry folks....that's just me and my choice of how I deal with such a state of mind........I've been on that fast downward spiral.......don't want to ever go there again

Yepper, working on climbing back up myself.
That was about as bad for me as Lonesome Whippoorwill.

I FIXED MY LAPTOP!!!!
I completely forgot that I had flipped the little toggle thingie on the bottom that disengages the battery inside before I left for my sister's last week. I also unplugged it, but disengaged the battery because it was going to be sitting unused for 4 days unplugged & I didn't want the battery draining too low. I flipped it, looked at the screen & had my battery back!
Whoop!
