Or another version with no lyrics?

That was fantastic. I think I saw a video of them going into a busy music store, poke around at some instruments and end up putting on a show. It was great! Totally enjoyed that one too.

I interpret the video differently, i see a world that has forgotten how to express music (happiness, joy, freedom) and a group of men digging out the old instuments and bringing them to the people langing to share the music they wrote (thoughts, feelings, pain, hurt).
As such, it is for me a metaphor for people unable to share being helped to find their voice by those who have been through it before, and i find it uplifting.

Wow, never thought of it that way, but it does make sense. Thanks Russell.

Do you think they'll keep your counterpart? If they do, maybe he will effect operations so much that they'll have to do something about him. Or are they shutting the whole thing down?

Everything is still up in the air at the moment. It's my understanding they will stick him at another base, since there is an opening at another base. It's also my understanding that another company may buy out the one we are contracted to now, and they already have a contract with us. Everything is hearsay right now, except fo them wanting to make both bases 5 and 2.

So sorry, Debra! When one door closes, another opens. Who knows what a wonderful future may lay before you in the corporate offices (or wherever they send you)? Or, maybe you won't be laid off after all.

Sending positive vibes!

Thank you. I'm trying desperately to stay positive, but I'm just not feeling it right now.

Hopefully 'they' will find a suitable position that will satisfy you and them. Hang in dere sweet Debra

Thanks, iffy!! Now, if I could just pick my chin up off the floor and get this cement block off my chest, I'll be all right.

I'm starting to get worried. Willie, the file is still downloading. It's at 322 MB now!

I think something's wrong.

I stopped the download. And, now the link is working! Be back soon.

Showing 865mb.

he, he ... mine shows 908 mb.

Teresa, Gary and Mike are in the Ballpark .. the file should play straight from the link as well .. if Back Porch Radio is a minor hit and any one wants more, I can shrink the encode some for a smaller size .. I don't want folks to suck the entire Web into their machine ;) .. and, be aware (which I should have mentioned, have you ever heard of Ghost in the Machine .. ??) I actually encoded my DNA strand on the file, so there is that .. o_O

Good radio hit, but I like Lawyers, Guns, and Money

Prior to Warren Zevon passing .. 12 years I think now .. the album Life'll Kill Ya was done in his usual style of Political incorrectness and self deprecation .. he knew his last days were upon him, and left such gems as ::

EDIT .. I doubt Classy will even allow me to post it, sorry ..

I'm always remiss at welcoming new folks, so Welcome to all newcomers.

I haven't had much to say lately. I'm still stewing in a little uncertainty about the job situation. From all indications, I do believe I will be getting the boot from my base.

What will they do with me? Don't know.........I'm headed to work tomorrow. I think it may be my last hitch there. I'm a little sick about it.

Arrrgh! Not knowing is the pits! Do you know that you'll definitely be told what's planned when you get there or is that part of the rumor too? Keep an open mind. Things might not be as bad as you anticipate even if you get stuck at a desk for a bit. You never know what interesting developments might come along. I'll keep sending you good vibes!!

Well since oil fell, companies noticed that they're making more money since they have less fuel costs. That's no reason to not make more money right? Like... who's gunna notice?

Gary, I'm not going to take off on the main portion of your post, however, I will expand on the above ..

During the uptick in at the pump prices, which peaked at around four bucks a gallon on average in 2010/2011 I believe, every Company that had anything within their infrastructure that even remotely required fuel jacked prices under the guise of "We hate to do it, folks, but hey, gas costs a lot more money these days" .. I don't really have a beef with that, gas did cost a lot more money ..

The impact resulted in diversion of corn to the ethanol industry since farmers could do better selling crops as a fuel additive rather than as, er, food for cattle, etc .. this then had the ripple effect of raising food prices in general, since, again, gas/diesel being a big part of the cost, delivery wise .. I can't blame farmers, they are in business to make a profit ..

UPS / FedEx raised rates at the 10% a year average, which, of course, compounds on itself as well as adding Fuel Surcharge, Rural Delivery pricing, etc, again, based on $4.00 + gas .. I could cite other various examples ..

The point being, the fuel cost peak pricing caused a fairly dramatic wave that ran through the Economy in general, so now, with projected future prices expected to stay low, where is the drop in the various industries effected as it relates to goods being sold, delivery, etc .. ?? It lines the pockets of the industries and they are not going to drop prices .. so, the gas price peak ended up being a gift that looks like it will just keep on giving ..

On a side note :: Back in the 90's, I was in Buffalo, NY and decided to take I think 403 across thru Hamilton / London in order to avoid the extra driving (at least it looked like I could save some time with that route) .. I had neglected to fill up, thinking I had enough gas to get to Detroit, which turned out I did not .. so, pulled over to a Canadian station, I knew I did not need much to get back into the USA, so I put $10.00 worth in and paid the place .. got back in the van, cranked it over and looked down at the fuel gauge, which had not moved a millimeter .. got out, went in, looked at the Attendant and said "I think there must be something wrong with your pump, since it does not look like I got much gas at all .. " .. she looked at me and said "Sir, the price is in liters, not gallons .." as she did a slow eye roll .. o_O .. I think I also gave like 5 or 6 bucks even back then for a pack of Marlboros ..

Yeah unc. Farmers need it. That's true. But now with an oil glut no one pays attention to the fact that ethanol is not exactly the best thing for a gas engine. And without it, gas mileage increases.

As far as Canada... yeah. Being a major exporter of oil it seems bizarre. I think it's something like 3.78 liters to a gallon. Gas is really cheap now (snicker) at about $1 a liter. But it changes almost by the minute. Radio stations tell you what gas will be the next day. But the states charge a flat tax per gallon. Canada charges a percentage. So that's why it fluctuates so much and so rapidly.

great stuff.

my only complaint was you said the Smokey tune was "for the ladies"

Smokey was the last live concert i attended. He was awesome.

"For all the Young Ladies on the Thread .. " .. yes, it would not be me if I did not at the minimum, dedicate something to the Fine Young Women that populate our small section of Cyberville .. ;) .. after all, where would we be without them .. ?? :) .. I'll tell you where .. We'd be a bunch of Dudes hammering away at a keyboard drinking 2 liter Mountain Dews and eating bags of Nacho Doritos .. talking smack all day .. ;) ..

And who does not like a little Smokey every once in a while .. ?? ;)

ADDENDUM :: For those that may remember, for the longest time I called the thread "Geezers and Good Women" ..
