Yeah, I didn't forget at all! I meant it's been a long time since a meet up between Porchers! It's been what, a year or more?

Well, It could have been less. October saw a convention here in Orlando, but my sister and I were the only ones to show... I think I scare people because I'm an introvert and also confident and relaxed with it.

@2legsshrtHopefully I will have a cool antique wooden cane tomorrow. Will probably have to refinish it, since it has been used to help herd cows for a few years. I need to get more exercise, I have been vegging for the past few months.

Oh my, major flashback...

While stationed in Germany (late '70s), had a close bud have his MIL stay fer 'bout eight months. What a free and sharing spirit she was! Fer some reason her and I (not so much a FS) hit it off as if we were ancient tribal friends.

One of her 'specialties', besides homeopathics, was walking canes. She said that a natural cane will find it's 'home'. Just so happened that I, for whatever reason, had an intriguing 'find' (branch) I recovered earlier in my life. It had just a special natural shape that prompted me to ship it over a couple of oceans.

Laura told me to never remove any of it's surface/essence. She said that if it lasted as long as it had, it'll last my life time/line. The only thing she told me to do with it was to hand rub it's surfaces to enhance the 'bond'.

So, thanx fer da almost missed topic and enduring my memories!

Cool! I'd love an antique cane. I hate this clanky metal monstosity I have now. I need one with some character & personality. I think I'm going ebaying.

Yep my inner liners were so wore out one got a hole in it the other night with part of my stump sticking through. insurance will only pay for 1 set of suxpension liners at a time that's the black part but I'm going to try to talk them out of another set before we go this summer so if I get a hole I don't have to worry. They will still hold them on but it sounds like your farting every time you walk.

Now tomorrow I get to see a new doctor about my Hep C Treatment. I don't know if it is a man or a woman. How's this for a name Murali Nalluri. It's only taken 3 years.

I want to get a pic of it in the next day or so and show y'all what I'm talking about - a very unique one-of-a-kind walking stick... luv it.

Well I got a reprieve from finishing supper, daughter is helping so I left her and Mom for some girl time...



I've always liked canes/walking sticks/shaylalees etc.

A few years ago, I went to the home of an elderly couple to fix their computer. They were both very nice folks and I very much enjoyed my time there.

As I was leaving, I commented on a rather ornate walking stick propped up in the corner. Mr. Mac said "Come on out to the shed son, I want to show you something." The inside of his shed was unfinished, no inside paneling or ceiling boards, and up in the rafters were dozens, maybe more than a hundred "sticks" he had collected in the woods over the years while hunting and scouting. All of them were saplings with the same unique feature - they were "deformed" from having had vines grow around and around them in a spiral, kind of choking them off in places. He told me to pick out as many as I wanted!

I picked out 5 -and he wanted to to take more! - brought them home, finished stripping the bark off, and stained some, finished them with Spar varnish, and gave them to friends and family... but left my favorite one all natural, no stain.

I want to get a pic of it in the next day or so and show y'all what I'm talking about - a very unique one-of-a-kind walking stick... luv it.

Looks like I will be HOME for the vape meet in Tampa! I am excited I can go much less meet some more porchers! We gotta make plans!

Meeting some of our Porchers at that Convention was such a thrill for me! Once met, never forget.
Classy, Robin, Ken, Laura (Ken's sister) Johnny. These were the Porchers, there were others, but not Porchers.

I even have pictures of myself w/Phil and Dimi.


The first time meeting an ECFer is a treat, but a Porcher?!?!? Yep, understand!!!

You ought to check out ETSY. They have all kind of cool hand crafted stuff. Probably have a large collection of canes and walking sticks.
