sorry you're having so much trouble with it. Finally got to turn our heater off yesterday, we'll see how long that lasts
We are back to running low heat at night & high ac during the day. It's not coming on much either way.

Just a bit of cuteness from the interwebz

Major cuteness, indeed!

We're finally comfortable enough to not have our heater on, and definitely no A/C......

Hope they get the permanent fix done before you really need the heat!
i think i'm already thru the worst part.

so, it'll probly get fixed right around summer...

at least all this rain we've been having is good for the lakes. i may actually be able to take my walker to go fishing in the not-too-distant future.

no rain today, but the wind blew so hard, it was rather amazing

I got my cane in New Orleans at the market. It's from Africa. The top was carved from the horn of a Watusi cow. I was so excited it was only $18.

Gorgeous!! What a find!!

Can anyone shed some light on Flying with vape Gear? Homeland Security can be a real pain sometimes. That vape Convention looks like fun but wouldn't want to drive that far and wondered about flying

Flying is no problem. Just watch how much liquid you carry on and pack the rest. Should probably take the cap off, lay a piece of plastic across the opening and replace the top. (Also, leave a little room for expansion.) Once we figured that out the only problem we had was juice disappearing in our toppers. Weird. If it's a long flight we've snuck some vapes in the bathroom and blew the vaper into a tissue. I've decided to make a small amount of stronger juice than usual just for those times.

Carry on your batteries and make sure they're all stowed carefully so they're separated from each other. There are some inexpensive plastic battery cases that work well, or just wrap each and contain them.

Before I fill y'all in on what's been going on....

Belated Happy Birthday to 3mg!! And, Legs, your new legs look fabulous. I hope you are more comfortable now. Kay, hang in there. Winter won't last forever!!

After hearing all the rumors and not being quite certain what the flip was going on, after our maintenance meeting on Thursday (my Monday) I called my boss. I mean, at this stage of the game, I need to be adaptable, BUT, I was tired of dealing with uncertainty.

Without going into a boatload of details, the bottom line at the moment is that I will not be leaving my base right now. Even more joyous news for me..........my lazy little nemesis applied for an opening at another base, and he WILL be leaving!!! God does NOT sleep.

At any rate, I don't know when his departure date is, and I don't really care. I'm taking one day at a time as that's all I can deal with at this point. I'm more at peace, although the weather has my body aching. I'm way behind here, but I wish everybody well!!

That's FANTASTIC news!! :rickroll: :toast:

Factoid :: until about the mid 1960's, although he called it Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, there was no Tijuana Brass .. it was just Herb in a small studio in his garage overdubbing .. "Lonely Bull" was all Herb, the song as well as the album ..

That is an interesting factoid, I never knew... I always pictured him and some other musicians fully dressed out with sequins and sombreros, on a stage, having a good ol' time. And to do a "garage" album in the 60s had to be at least 10x harder and more time-consuming than today... not to mention some expensive equipment too, to be just a garage setup!

I have dat album, and yes, it's still a fav! Also still luv da cover...

Yeah, all that whipped cream kinda makes ya... ummm... hungry... yeah that's it, hungry. ;)

I learned how to R&R a blower motor that night and we had heat a couple-few hours later. Shwew!

Lemme guess... had to sand the brushes and armature? Oil the bearings? Glad ya got it fixed tho...

You all stay warm out there.

One of my favorite examples of "things I should have known" is using the up and down arrow keys on a keyboard to scroll a page. I think it took 4 or 5 years of heavy computer use before I knew that. Same with using the PRTSCRN key.

Individually, ain't none of us know much 'bout nuttin.
Collectively, we know just about everything about just about everything.
I LOVE the alt-tab to jump from one screen to the next. :)
You can also press down the Ctrl key, and use the rollie thing on your mouse to increase/decrease screen size. Love that one too. :)

<as long as da attendees hardware doesn't get in da way>

Ummm, I hold my postal person to da some of same no-nos as anyone dat dated my daughters; honk your horn and I'll ask to see what power plant ya have under dat hood. And then yank da horn connections while my 'baby' was mortified peeking thru da living room window . Only had to do dat once; da word got around. Actually, my girls told me they warned their suitors thereafter.

Oh, BTW, flashed da porch light more dan once...

End result, three SILs I luv as sons!

Yepper, machine oil, silicone and graphite handles most of my 'sticky' mechanical issues. BUT, I'm da biggest fan fer CorrosionX fer any marine equipment/electrical components. Not cheap, but priceless. Have several stories for 'nother time.

I have dat album, and yes, it's still a fav! Also still luv da cover...

I fell into Fluid Film at the local rv dealer. If. You haven't tried it it's worth a look. Works really well. It's kind of like a really easy to apply grease that lasts for a long time.

A bunch of years ago during a bitter cold snow storm our heater went out. Called the emergency repair line for our heater service and of course they were booked solid w/ outages. They did stop by shortly after the call and diagnose it as just the fan motor but couldn't stay to repair it as other customers were ahead of me on the queue. I needed a 1/3hp motor, he only had a 1/4hp motor on the truck but said it would fit and work.

I learned how to R&R a blower motor that night and we had heat a couple-few hours later. Shwew!
Yay!

Speaking of DIY projects, I have a current-day such project, not yet resolved. You may remember when I posted about 2 weeks ago that my water supply had frozen despite the fact that I left the tub faucet running that cold night.

When the temperature got above freezing 36 hours later, I still had no water. I figured it must be the electrical connection in the pump house. I had messed with it just a couple days prior and so it seemed logical that I had made it worse instead of better.

So, I dismantled the connection (which is just the 3 wires of a grounded 110V circuit) and did a halfway decent job of making it more secure, using waterproof twist connectors for each of the 3 junctures.

Flipped the breakers back on for the pump. Still no water into the house, but the line leading to the outside spigot was spurting like crazy, so I now knew that there was no problem with the pump or the electrical connections, and that there must be a blockage in the line that goes into the house. This turned out to be a correct diagnosis. The most likely culprit was the shut-off valve, so I removed that section of the supply line since it was impossible for me to simply remove the valve, which was inline with a curious combination of different diameter hardware in several types of metal and 2 different types of plastic.

I then fixed the leaking line to the outside spigot.

When I had it removed, sure enough, the shut-off valve for the house line was boogered and was completely blocking any flow even though the knob was turned counterclockwise all the way to the end stop. Couldn't see a speck of light trying to look through it.

Now, the problem is trying to connect a 3/4" inside diameter PVC supply line to a 5/8" outside diameter copper elbow that formerly had a different type of plastic pipe over the nipple. I am currently convinced that a piece of 5/8" PVC pipe would do the trick but there ain't no such thing as 5/8" plumbing fixtures of any kind at Lowe's. There are countless dozens of 1/2" and 3/4" connectors and pipes but no 3/4" to 5/8" reducers and no 5/8" pipe of any kind.

I connected the existing 3/4" PVC pipe to the copper elbow and got water into the house no problem, but there was so much leaking (as in torrential) at the PVC/copper joint outside the house that I turned it off again.

Meanwhile, I can only get water from my outside spigot. To do that, I block off the line that goes to the house.

To be continued. I'm having fun, and haven't yet reached the level of being ticked off, which is still well short of the level that I pay somebody to fix it.

Ac in the car + Going to places with AC = occasionally leaving the house though I do tend to do my grocery shopping at like midnight in summer. ;)
If the good Lord expected us to sweat He would not have let us invent air condition.

They really were talented. They could go from ridiculous comedy to music without blinking. I got to see their show in Vegas. The routines I remember are this one, & Yo-yo Man. They were hilarious, & their tv show was great.

You know I don't know about that I have one little spot on the front of the bottom of my stump that if I touch sends like an electri shock through me. The rest just hurts. That spot bothers me though it's like the nerve is right there and hitting something sharp. I may try walking on it again. Have to be able to get up 7 stairs to the bathroom. My wife got my crutches out that clip to your forearms. Made it to my recliner with my cane and what ever else I could grab.

Maybe you just smashed a nerve there and if you leave it alone it'll be better if you give it 24 hrs. If not, you might want to get an x-ray. Might have chipped the bone? Either way, I'm so sorry to hear about the fall. Hope it's just a pain in the stump and will feel better quickly for you.

ruh roh! ... If matt didn't chime in w/ some hints ... you've got a puzzle on your hands. Sorry plumbing and electricity are not in my DIY arsenal.

Yes I do remember that phone! I loved that phone, except it was a party line that was a pain. When Mom finally had Ma Bell install a modern phone she was furious that they took the old black one. She didn't know that she was just renting it all that time!

Can you post up a picture of the two pipes you're trying to connect.

Here's a 5/8 to 3/4 coupler ... just no idea if it suits you need at all.
