Just curious, anybody seen Deb yet today? I was kinda expecting one or two good smacks by now, after some of my comments about southern food. I'm a little worried that that hasn't happened yet.

She's liken posts now, so she'll be round directly. :)

Southern food. When I lived in the KC area, I got my introduction to sausage gravy and biscuits, okra, and boiled greens. Then, more recently, I had a Texan room-mate for several years. There, I made the switch from cornmeal mush to grits. I like the texture better. And I got into boiled greens-- much more interesting than just spinach.

So, even though I live in Wisconsin, I am not a culinary idiot.
Try grits with a poached or soft boiled egg mixed in!

What food did you say was just about as good canned as it was fresh? Was it green beans? If so, that's why you're fired, refried and refired. Green beans from a can: I grew up with 'em and don't know how I managed to survive long enough to discover real green beans.
not exactly what I said. I much prefer fresh, just can never get frozen to cook down good like fresh ones. I do like frozen done other ways way better than canned, but frozen never seem to taste like the fresh of my childhood. white half runners were the best!!

I had a DFF and quickly found out that they are a genuine pain in the fanny to clean. Stopped using it and it's been on the shelf ever since. Nothing beats a cast iron dutch oven for deep frying. :)
I agree, but don't have a cast iron dutch oven, and can't use cast iron on son and dil's glass stovetop.

Black eyed peas are VILE !!!
this broke my widdle heart! :(

Over 160 posts to read?! You've got to be kidding!

I'll see ya'll on the other side.
hehehe mostly talk about books and food......just skip through if ya need to.

Debadoo, Gary needs a fry pan to the head. I said I don't make deep fat fried foods at home so I don't need to know how to do it.
but.........you fired me.........so I can't do your bidding! :pervy: and I really wish this was named raspberry rather than pervy lol

All I know is I didn't play any part in it at all. Nope, not one bit, I never talk, least not much.:D
If ya need any proof see how I described myself when I first got here a couple weeks ago.
hehehe told ya we'd bring you outta yur shell!!!

Very nice!!!

I'm guessing that you've never had a really great plate of them! I'm a persnickity eater and i love them...along with collard greens....
Jup we'll need to do some BEP's with the collards! Wonder iffn they gotta crock pot there.

Would y'all shaddup for a minute so that I can talk???
:p Just kiddin'. I don't have anything of interest to say. :)
lmao! We always love what you have to say!

Ya'all keep your collards, give me some good processed meat by products and maybe a bit of sawdust too.
precisely!!!

OK, dat dun proves it; you're a long lost Sis due to a past pleasureful tribal debauchery! dna be damned...
(((((((((Bubba)))))))))) with the same family last name, and from the same areas, ya never know, may be some long lost DNA in there as well!

But sightseeing isn't much fun solo. Pat (wife) has to stay home as there's only us to see to her mom - who just turned 93 in January. So I tend to just ignore the adage about it being the journey and not the destination...
awwwwwwww but wow, so wonderful that you both still have at least one parent.

Ummm, do I need to duck now? Is Deb coming for me with her frying pan?
Jup!!!

and boiled greens.
uhmmm well.......simmered, stewed etc. lol

I tried some more original user names (I thought) for various online sites and services, and they were already taken.
soooooo Keith Allen Davis??? hehehe

Is it true people in Wisconsin eat cheese at every meal ?
dunno but they sure eat some of the best cheese there is! Specially cheddar curds!! omggg so good!

And even on dessert, they put cheese on Apple Pie.
don't do that, but I love a cheddar and sliced apple snack! They go great together!

:p

ECF doesn't have a frying pan, Deb needs to give em one. :)
But then I'd be outta a job!!

Be ready for an immense multi-post. Glad she finally got some sleep.
Jup and awwwwwww thanks, yeah wuz weird goin to bed while it was still dark. 3 am got up about 10

Grits, buttah, poached egg, bacon crumbles, cheese, salt & peppah. Any combination is great. Or grits, buttah, & any fruit cooked into them. Yur missin' good stuffs, Gary!

Nope not quite. But If'n for some reason y'all don't like calling me kad, you are free to call me Kevin or Kev.
Had a Kevin growing up that lived across the street. Probably about 6 years older than me. He was really into karate and marshall arts. Must of got knocked in the old noggin a few time cause he was definitely a few bricks shy of a full pallet. Nice to finally meet one who isn't although, I have a friend from Boston named Kevin that's pretty cool. There's an ice cream place up there that makes the best ice cream you've ever tasted and he brings a bunch packed down in dry ice with him. Just gives it away. Won't accept a dime for it. Nice guy but, drinks just a bit too much for me now that I pretty much quit drinking. You know I've discovered that drunks aren't nearly as much fun when your sober. ;):thumb:

Dang....you had me searching.....and once again.....I'm dancing.....;)

I hated the Beatles cover of that one.....

Wasn't one of my favorites either and I am probably one of the biggest Beatles fans you've ever met. One thing I will always remember it the Beatles version was the first song I ever played live as a DJ on the radio. :)
