Don,

Thank you so very much for letting us know. No words I say will suffice, but please know that at any time, you are welcome here to just 'be'.

It is a major loss to we Porchers also, as we considered her to be a true gem and loved her very much.

So sad to see this, Don. I know that she was just hoping to have a long time before it would get her. And the pain of the loss prevented you from making contact with us. We have all had losses, and know how deep it hurts. Please stick around, either with her account or with your own (whichever you feel comfortable with), never hurts to get online support (from good places), and gain some computer literacy in the process.

You may not yet have the skills for the Hangout, but we can help you with that if you want to actually see and hear us.

Don, I did not have the pleasure of knowing Jewels, but I can attest to the love and concern here from all that did. She surely lived up to the name Jewels. I add my sincere condolences to you and your family, and an invitation to join is when/if you can. The love and sharing here is awsome, and lots of people to help whenever, with whatever, you need help with. They also are good for a good laugh or two, which can really cheer you up.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know. {{{hugs}}}

got my grocery shopping done caby told me he can only except cash i said err i dont have cash so he took my card LOL
Watch the old bank balance just in case. Not saying he dishonest but, wouldn't hurt to pay attention. Doree checks our bank account every morning with her morning coffee, especially since we've been down here. Last trip we found some bad charges from some has station skimmer in East Jesus South Carolina (we've all been there at least once, hate waiting at that one stoplight! :w00t:). She doesn't take any chances anymore. We bank online at the local credit union and it's easy.

Yea!! At least they came and got it!

Its always good to see stuff actually go to charity!
This place is called Faith Farm and the offer faith based treatment for alcoholics and drug attics. It's 12 step based with counciling and everything but, my understanding is it has a heavy Christian bent. They were very polite and I jumped in and helped as much as I could.

glad the storm is making it better, and glad you'll be getting home soon. Hope all is well with your house and your neighbors.

yeah it was after I said that, that I realized you were talkin bout the steering wheel and I was talkin bout the side of the road.

Glad they came to get it, and glad you donated it. When my dad died, we were planning to donate his furniture. I did decide fairly quickly that I was ready to go home sooner than I'd planned, just needed to be done dealing with it all, so I don't blame the charities, but Goodwill said it would be about a week I think. Salvation Army said if they had a truck they'd be right out but they didn't.......called a church and they said, I'll find a way, can you give us an hour? I said sure thing. But the last move, Goodwill wouldn't even come get furniture if anything was wrong with it to include just a mar in the fabric. After the hurricane in 83, even with vouchers, Goodwill wouldn't give us anything since they didn't have what was on the vouchers, Salvation Army said they were out of what we had on the vouchers (furniture) but said if there is anything here you need just take it, and check back later with your vouchers. I got a lamp we needed and a pair of shoes for work. So, I'm done with Goodwill, won't donate to em, buy from em, just don't deal with em. I'll donate to Salvation Army. Not to mention 20 yrs ago or more Goodwill was charging 4.00 for a mans cotton button down shirts that literally were threadbare.
My understanding is that Goodwill is for profit these days and if you can't buy it in the thrift shop you have to jump through hoops to get help from them. I haven't heard much good about then these days. We still take stuff to them but, more out of habit than anything else.

Don I liked this post only to acknowledge that I read it. Please accept my deepest sympathy on your loss. Know that Jewels was a light around here and brightened our lives. She will be truly missed. Hardly a week went by that one or the other of us didn't ask after her. I will pray for you and have no doubt that we will see her again upstairs.

That's my understanding as well. Their top administration is one of the best paid in the business and it has to come from somewhere. Salvation Army is still the best, but it is heavily faith based. I'm not, but at least they put their money where their collective mouth is.

Don, my sincere condolences on your and your family's loss of a true one of kind 'jewel'. She was the best. Jewels was one of my 1st friends when I joined ECF almost 4 years ago. She was a delightful person ... all about her husband, family and that little dog. As you've read we've missed her and spoken often hoping the best for her. So sad to hear this news.

Let me too extend a invitation to join us here on the back porch where it's all about friendship and support with whatever's going on in our lives, not just vaping. If you feel comfortable would be nice to have you here.

Dear Don,

First of all, Jewels was such a lovely, joyful and anticipated part of my ECF life, and always in all ways the Jewel! My heart aches and weeps, but my soul soars for her.

You may not know how much we appreciate you letting us know. But be assured that we now can also start our healing and will support you in any way we can!

Must ask, did she, or do you, have a favorite charity or endeavor that would celebrate her?

May our caring and love give you and yours comfort! Peace...

Oh Don, I'm so very sorry to hear about Jewel's passing. She was such a joy and always helped fellow vapers whenever she could. We've had her and your family in our prayers for a long time. Thank you so much for letting us know. If you have any vaping questions please feel that you can come and ask us anything. We're a great bunch of vapers here who have a long history of helping each other no matter what stage of vaping we're in.

Well gall darn! I got a convo today from someone from the vendor 'gearbest'. I've seen them mentioned around the forum but have never dealt with them. Now I probably never will. Kind of sleazy.

In the convo he introduced himself as being a representative of gearbest and he's recently joined ECF and likes what he sees, etc. etc. Then I was asked if I wanted to represent them by placing reviews of their products around ECF - in return I would get benefits like products, advance notice on stuff, etc. etc.

This person just joined ECF last month, only had 4 posts in the new members forum and was NOT 'showing' as a vendor or associate vendor rep - just showed up in his profile like a normal ECF'er.

I reported it to the admins. They thanked me and said they've been having this issue w/ multiple acc'ts from this vendor trying to pull this off. Make me wonder how many ECF'er might have been lured in with the offer of free stuff.

Well looks like that person has not only been booted but wiped from ECF. Even the convo I got is gone from my inbox. The ECF admins work quick! Nice going.

My mom did that, planned on giving all kinds of furniture and clothing to charity as it was all stuff she couldn't take with her as she was moving into a smaller house.. she arranged for them to come, bringing a truck, because it was a charity that gave various furniture and clothing to people in need - and she was giving almost new living room set and dining room set and 2 bedsets

and the charity never came... ever.. when they didn't come that day she called them and they told her they were running behind.. she called them two days later as she was still waiting..

what happened is the furniture stayed with the house in the end, because she couldn't move it..

it was rather sad because someone would have loved to have it.. it was beautiful stuff..

so I do hope your charity actually shows up!

If you check online there might be a Freecycle site being operated for your area. We've given away lots of stuff that way, especially if we didn't have enough for the local Viet Nam Vets truck that operates in our area. No money involved. It kind of works like a bulletin board. Just list what you have to give away, somebody (or several) will answer and you reply to one of them to come get whatever you're giving away. You can also list things that you're looking for so if anyone has it, they'll be able to contact you. Just leave what they're picking up out for them and they come and cart it away.

Here the hoop is simple. Another agency writes up Goodwill vouchers. Since the other agency is somewhat of a clearinghouse for assistance programs, they can screen for people who exploit the system. Actually, the clearinghouse agency is eager to give people vouchers. And Goodwill is happy to tell customers where they can go to get those vouchers

You also have to realize that Goodwill hires people who cannot get a job elsewhere, to give them a hand up back into the employment force.

Noper, just an ol' antiquated tactic used back in da birthing of vaping; not only here, but also YouTube.

Da ECF caught on early. YT... took actual vapers to call BS after a while. Consequently YT reviewers play pretty honestly nowadays.

Mike, nice headsup and followup!
