Sorry. It was steam produced by coal fired boilers. Our coal here in NW New Mexico is low sulfur (relatively), but very high in ash content. That leads to some very high maintenance, by the way.

No doubt! Low sulphur or not, coal is a dirty, messy fuel. Water and gravity was nice :)

Glad ya adapted quickly and they're treatin' ya well. Nosy minds would like to know, what does a Cajun queen take on da road to cook?.

Well, a wise Cajun Queen cooks before she leaves and takes food that is already cooked and just frozen for the trip. She takes her ice chest and puts her ice in there, and takes, ham, gumbo, chili, pork roast, and taco soup. I don't feel much like cooking after a 12 hour shift. I've been mainly subsisting on one meal a day and coffee, OH! AND the marvelous biscuits that one guy made from scratch last night!! They were so fluffy and light.

It's busy out here...not like at my base. Not a lot of down time. I hope I have enough left in me to drive home. I'm BONE WHIPPED!! One more night!!

Hopefully when they air the televised evening group judging they will include her singing.
kewl! Dunno why it's always so hard to find the airing schedule, wish they'd make it easier to know when things will be on and which channels.

We have a busy weekend ahead so won't be able to finish up decorations! Going to son's and will be babysitting overnight for the 3 grandbabies........then, I'll probably be too tired to finish decorating when I get back.....hit and miss this year, I tell ya!
Haven't even started my baking yet, and normally I start right after Thanksgiving....looks like it will be short and sweet this year.
You can take it easier this year hun! No problems with that.

We honored the spirits in everything we did every day.
jup that's what it's all about.

Trust me, when the majority of the house was missing ground connections - I got worried.
I worry about that too. Is that what would cause a spark sometimes when you plug something into a wall outlet, or is that caused by something else? That happens sometimes here at my son's house.

The don't like stringy stuff like celery and such.
newp not at all......or carrot peels, couple decades ago I found out the hard way that carrot peels essentially turn to grease lol

Can you tell which network is recording the event?
Often it's on USA but that's not a guarantee.

OK - Holiday pics for this year
Merry Christmas!!
Beautiful Ken!

Or too much soft squishy stuff all at once. The couple behind me ran a big pot of pinto beans their daughter had burned thru their disposal all at once. Packe to the insides, blocked the drainage on it & proceded to overflow the sink & move into my kitchen under the wall. They would have been fine doing it a little at a time with it on. But they shoved it all in there, then turned it on, then turned on the water & walked off.
Yep, that'll do it! Everybody that has one should run some ice through it every six months or so. We dump the ice maker down it. Get rid of the stale ice and cleans/sharpens the disposal at the same time. Yes, sharpens the blades. They don't work the same way as knives or food processors. They grind more than cut. Ice sharpens them as well as cleans the gunk outta the grinding surfaces. Also a 1/4 cup of baking soda in a gallon of water dumped down it when it's of an allowed to sit for about five minutes then rinsed out while it's running about once a month will do away with any funky odors. Hey didn't know I was a garbage disposal expert did ya?

Thanks. I am working on trimming, cutting dangly threads, and ironing two tops right now, and putting a border on one of them. Being a bit critical about my work, but......

They are both made from scraps, put together in disorder, then cut in diamond shapes and put back together. One alternating diamonds in dark and light, the other multicolor and put back together with black sashing like stained glass.

I have read that, too.
OK, let me see if I can get through this without too many tears. My wife really enjoyed making quilts. Any time a co-worker or friend would be having a baby, away we would go and pick up material for a baby quilt. When we found out that her cancer wasn't treatable, she wanted to make one last quilt, just for me. She wanted it to be special and something that when I used it I would be wrapping myself in her love. We went to her friend's quilt shop and she had me pick out the material that I liked. Needless to say, eventually, the time came when she couldn't work on it anymore. The ladies in her *itch and Stitch Group (her name for the group) took over and completed it for her. I didn't see the quilt until they called and ask us to come to the shop. It was one of Nancy's better days (good drugs). She put on makeup, her best wig and out we went. I think it is the best quilt that she ever made. I admit I have it put away so it won't get messed up, however, when I am feeling down I will pull it out and cover myself with it in my recliner. Of course, my pup will also jump up and snuggle down with me. I resized the picture so it would allow me to drag it into the post. I hope it is good enough to see the quality of the quilt. I think it is a very good picture of her, too. She was beaming with pride that day. I have to admit I was very proud of her, too.

Personally, I never bought into the ice/blades bit .. it's just not possible for ice to sharpen a blade ..

That pattern is called Turning Twenty, Diver, & it's a gorgeous quilt! You should pull it out & use it, especially now that it's colder. She would want you to, that's why she made it. Quilts made by loving hands are like warm hugs. That's why all the effort that goes into selecting the pattern, the colors, the fabrics, deciding on the perfect batting, the cutting, piecing, & finally the quilting & binding are worth it to a quilter. It.s to someone that needs to be loved. Hugs are the same way, they take a little effort.
You make a beautiful couple! She was so thoughtful to do that for you! When you feel like it might be time to wash it, let me know. It will only need it maybe 1-2 times a year if you are using it daily.
