Let's end the debate. No one ever seems to think that Orange and Silver have words that rhym with them
sporange - organ containing or producing spores
chilver - A female lamb
But-- the challenge is to construct verses of poetry where the pairs of words would naturally fall into context. I can think of an orange mushroom, and an ewe lamb born during a spring ice-storm. Anyone want to try?

Oh, THAT'S what you call it?

Put together a full CD of croaking tree frogs for a friend once. She'd had to move into a city and missed them.

I can understand that. I so look forward to the sound of the peepers along Creek Road. Yep, the road's named that because it follows a creek. There's one area where the peepers are just so loud for a week or so in the spring. Just love driving past that spot on a nice spring night and hearing them.

Sounds like us when we go to bed we always put the same movie on "The Hobbit" and go to sleep by it. Have watched the first 10 min about 300 times.
is this just an old folk's thing, now?

when i first started doing this, i think i watched "the last samurai" about 1000 times, in order to go to sleep.

now i have netflix, and i think i've watched all 14 episodes of "firefly" mebbe 500 times...

back before almost nobody/anybody had a home vcr, i bought some vcr parts that were intended for hotels/motels at an electronics surplus store and wired it all up to get it working. that was in the early 70's. for some reason, the surplus store, also sold a wide variety of woody allen movies. so, i would frequently fall asleep watching woody allen movies back then, when i was going to college...

myrany will understand the latter :)

after losing faith in religion and politics, "nothing rhymes with orange" was pretty much all i had left

and now that dream is shattered

toss me upon the scrapheap of civilization. i'm ready

We have a pond off one corner of the land, and get a serenade for a month or so in the spring. Some years, with a false spring, we'll get two "sessions"! Wife dubbed them the "Froggienackle Choir."

In my "relaxation" folder on my Ipod I have several recotdings of rain, waves, frogs... Sometimes when I can't sleep I turn it on and it helps me sleep.

It's nice to know I'm not alone.
Our civilization is a scrapheap.
They all are, and always have been.

Mu heart is full as a ripe orange
Spreading love as a swolen sporange
Across the meadow with dewdrops silver
Shaken by the birth of a chilver

My drop of the hat verse is never as good as my sonnets, but there you go
