I'm no Car Expert, but I play one on TV .. ;) .. it's my understanding that, at least in the USA, the check engine light usually has something to do with emission control, etc .. even a gas cap that's not secured down fully ..
Mine came on the other day. When I got home I took off the gas cap and put it back on. The light went out before I drove 10 miles.

Sum peeples got all the luck. :( Mine was actually shot. I replaced it. No luck.

I'm sorry people. I accidentally posted at the wrong place. I became overwhelmed when I saw the Tommy Emmanuel posts and was too overcome and too broke to pay attention! I studied Tommy Emmanuel (online) and have been playing fingerstyle highly advanced, but I started playing when I was seven. When my husband and I lived in Cambridge/Boston, we made our entire living just performing. Unfortunately, the climate we are currently living in has almost zero culture, but the people are nice, just nothing like what we are used to after Cambridge. What a joy to see Tommy Emmanuel here! I played with Muriel Anderson and had the great honor of studying with a few legends in Cambridge. Berklee too, but mostly private in player's homes. I am always playing -- often six to eight hours a day, every day. Once you learn all that material you have to keep it in performance condition and my Bach is worse than my bite!

I wanted to say hello and tell you how grateful I am that I found this forum way back when Texas Tumbleweed was still with us. He inspired me to quit in 2011!!! It's been four and a half years now! I miss him. I know we all miss him. Bless his heart!!!

Hi, Everybody!! :w00t:

I forgot to say that my quit date was April 13th, 2011 !!!

Well dang - we missed "Congrat-ing" you back in April - so Cogtrat's now on 4 1/2 years.

That's a lot of daily string plucking. Our local barber shop has some of the best music in the area. No-no, not Barbershop Quartet stuff. He's an avid musician himself and on Monday nights he holds an open mic night in his shop. The back of his shop is setup w/ a stage and some tables like a mini-cafe/lounge. He gets some good local talent.

He's a really nice guy and I really like listening to his music selections while waiting for a haircut - but unfortunately he's not a really good barber. He only know how to cut hair one way - his way. After two years of trying to train him to cut my hair the way I like ... I have moved on to another shop.

That sounds fun!!! I had a great time playing Prairie Home Companion. I had a trio then when we had a great blues harmonica player, but we are a duo now. I do all the guitar and my husband plays piccolo bass as well as regular standup bass. It doubles as a canoe!!! If we ever have a flood, we are prepared! Sounds like your barber might be a better player than cutter, so he should stick to shredding.

I'm stuck in between ages at this point! I'm not young, and I'm not old either!!! Where do I go? I have much more fun here! I just can't believe how fast you all keep this place jumpin'! It's hard to keep up!

Honey, your home! Ain't going nowhere.

Matt: I read about your knees and I know how serious it is when chronic pain sets in. I see a neurologist after having most of my c-spine replaced in 2013 and then another disc last December of 2014. I had absolutely no idea how I injured the discs in my neck. I woke up feeling very different, and my fingers were numb and I could not play my guitars! Weird! Then I started having shooting pain down both arms and I was worried it was my heart because I have a missing blood protein that causes me to be hypercoagulable and it caused a heart attack 15 years ago. I have three stents. Wow! Pain is the most draining state to be in that I know of. It aged me dramatically last year. I strongly empathize with pain -- especially the knees. They are very difficult to repair. About the only thing one can do is gently walk in a swimming pool (that is my form of PT) and even that is painful!

I just finished reading a book called American Pain and it was all about the clinic that went by that name. They were operating in Broward County and also Boca Raton, Florida. You probably know all about it. They operated a pill mill that accepted patients with no MRIs, X-rays, CAT scans ... nothin'!!! They prescribed Oxycontin and oxycodone along with Percocet in dosages that were usually reserved for end-stage cancer patients. You can imagine the overdoses from respiratory distress. People traveled to the clinic in droves! Junky after junky!!! It really hurt thousands of patients who were in genuine debilitating pain! It just went on and on. I used to take little 3-day vacation packages with my husband from Logan to Fort Lauderdale and have sooo much fun in the sun! I had no idea that American Pain was even around. To this day it holds the record for the biggest pill mill operation in the US!

When you had written earlier that you are looking for a doctor you can trust, you are absolutely right! Dependency is entirely different than addiction. I developed dependency to opioids when I ruptured three discs in my lumbar spine when I was just 26. They just kept writing and writing!!! I kept taking them! I'm lucky I was able to get off of them -- but it took me almost a week of withdrawal. Never again! I took pain medicine with great caution on several occasions and was hooked up to a PCA so I could just press a button every 12 minutes! Oh, how pain bites the big one! People must have access to pain meds, but it scared me the last few years when I had to take them or my BP would send me up a tree! Since 2012 I have had four major surgeries and am glad to be here -- glad to be anywhere is more like it!!!

We have been talking about Florida a lot here lately. The sinkholes, pill mills ... but then you've got Dave Barry ("Miami: Maybe You Won't Get Shot!!!") We LOVE Dave Barry! I remember being lost in Miami thinking to myself, "get me outta here!" I was so scared! It was about as crazy as driving in Boston! Oh, but those were the good old days! And the seafood was incredible! Even though I grew up eating Maine lobsters, there was nothing better than the restaurants in Florida!

Thanks for making me feel so at home here! I know I have probably said this before, but it took me almost four years to start writing here and now, I love it here so much that "Maybe I Won't Shut Up!"

Iffy, everytime I see your Avatar I get a rush of happiness because of growing up with Charlie Brown books! Nothing made me happier than my blanket and a warm puppy!!! I put a Peanuts display out every year for Christmas! I always have a dancing Snoopy! So, we both quit at the same time! How cool is that?! I honestly have never seen an online community I loved this much before in my entire life! I thought it was a miracle when I quit smoking. I had tried every method and even went to a hypnotherapist and it just made me feel hopeless, completely hopeless. Thank goodness for vaping!!! YAY!

Garyoa1 and Kenna! I LOVE it here! Thanks so much! I don't think there is a better place anywhere in the world! I have decided to have a second childhood and to spend it right here!!! We start out being rocked and then settle into a comfy rocker when we get older! I like that!!! Kenna: What type of butterfly is that in your avatar? It is so beautiful! We have been trying to identify it but can't. So cool here!

Yeh but I'm pretty much past that. What I'm talking about now is my usual complaints. I am actually on pain management for my knees. Long story but, if you go back to part three of the back porch it's all there. Cut to chase by saying I need new knees but have been having doctor difficulties as in finding one I trust. Going to give it another try after we get to Florida. I figure with all the old peoples down in South Florida I should be able to find a doc who knows what he's doing.

Yeah .. I don't remember the details of the "slip and fall", but I thought it was a hip that was beat up some .. thus, I was referring to your current hip pain which could (or could not) have been exacerbated by that incident .. :)

In my own case, I'm hoping an artificial vertebral column becomes available at some point .. ;) ..
