After Hurricane Isabel here a few years back it took 8 days for us to get power back. Some places took o er two weeks. We're in the middle of a group of cities with well over 1 million folks. The people who lived out in the relative sticks took a long long time.

hate ya had to go through that, but glad all is fine. Still have never done this, but need to, trying to talk myself into it. My dad died of colon cancer, but I have real issues thinking that the procedure is a good thing to do, specially when snipping up in there if they find polyps etc. I know the worst part has to be the prep.

I've been through four of them and even though I am not looking forward to my next one, they are not that bad. I'll bet even Gary would agree. They give a honking shot of "I don't care" before hand. It's the prep that sux but even that has gotten better in the last few years. It depends on what you doc prescribes for prep. The gallon of stuff is pretty bad but, the have something that's only a pint of so now that is much better from what I understand. If you doctor says you need one, you really should get one. Generally by the time you can detect the signs of colon cancer it's too late. We definitely want you around a while longer girl!
one mentioned it once, but no one else has, which really surprises me since I'm 52 and the history. that's really kinda sad no one is talking to me about this. I may make light of the colonoscopy, because it is, after all, such an easy "target" .. however, there are alternatives available that are generally low cost .. the FIT test is cheap and if administered yearly, is as good an indicator as an every 10 year regular colonoscopy with an 80% detection rate .. there is the sDNA test as well ..
The problem with some getting a colonoscopy for many is the cost as well as the discomfort and hassle .. alternative, lower cost screening procedures can be effective in detecting whether or not further examination is needed .. the traditional colonoscopy is another example of a low cost, high profit procedure that the Medical Community pushes, knowing full well less costly alternatives are available ..
