Mike and I were talking about that yesterday. We've both been sneezed and snotted on. Maybe we should up our Vit C intake! Of course this would be a good excuse to be lazy for a few days and get plenty of rest, but I suspect we'll be doing some Miles watching this week since son and his wife both have a cold from Miles and at least the DIL will have to go into work. She's already had a bad cold for a couple weeks and the baby is due in about 6 weeks. Then we'll have Miles for a sleep over for a day or 2 before baby comes home. Oh boy.
I forgot about the new baby! I feel so sorry for your dil, pregnant & has a cold & two other sickies to care for. Ugh!

On the "yard debris giant tweezers" Diver mentioned :: I use a plastic rake and a plastic snow shovel (why they make plastic snow shovels I have no idea, they're fairly useless if you get any bottom ice or snow pack) .. I simply rake up a section and use the snow shovel as a giant dust pan and the rake as a giant broom .. :) .. tweezing them together manually for pick up and subsequent deposit in trash bin or bag ..
That works well.

Went searching on self-help for flareup of DeQuervain's Tendonitis. Use cold compresses, and limited massage. Better.

I hope the whole Ebner clan feels better soon. Not good when everyone has the same cold.

The beard looks great!! Is this just temporary or permanent?

Is a 10 year supposed to be a good or bad thing?

Sounds like you had a good time. Good for you! We sure could use a winter clean up outside, but we've had rain, rain and more rain. Yesterday was nice here, but we weren't home! At this point, unless we have some warm weather we'll be cleaning up and taking down the Christmas lights in the Spring!

Now that looks handy, but does it open wide enough to get a good load of leaves? Sure looks like it would save the back! With a huge yard like ours it makes more sense to mow the leaves. As a kid I loved it when people would rake their front lawns and burn the leaf piles at the street (after we were done playing in those piles!) Mmmmmm, the smell of those burning leaves in the Fall!
It's as permanent as the wife lets it be

Sent from a dark, twisted corner of the back porch, covered in cobwebs and slightly damp.

That I don't know, I will have to check it out next time I go to Home Depot.
I always enjoy the smell of burning leaves in the fall. However, living in the city I can't do that.

Yeah it really sucks here this year. Not sure how it's all going to turn out. I'm supposed to get my new feet and ankles Wed. and supposed to have a high of 7. I sure hope this breaks soon. I'm sure this one is going to head your way. We haven't been above freezing since 12/4. The long range forecast shows us warming up near the middle to the end of Jan clear to 46. Dammit I hope they are right. I'm too old for this.
It's actually supposed to head down here. Lows next weekend near 55. Damn! Might have to break out my hoodie. Just walked the dog and came home sweating. It's still 77° outside.

Me two, NCC, but in moderation. In NW NM, we'll at least see some snow every year with an occasional day that doesn't get above freezing. I've seen it over a hundred in the summer, but not every year. I'd say we've got about the best four season climate in the contiguous forty-eight.
I'm with you. In winter it should at least get cold once in a while! Unfortunately that ain't the case here and with what might be global warming I don't see it getting better. But, you never know.

Hey there folks, hope everyone's doing OK. I haven't been on the porch much here lately, not since last year. ;) Got all the holiday trappings packed away and ready for next time, seems to take longer to do that than it used to. I missed wishing everyone a Happy New Year yesterday, so I'm sliding in under the "official observance" clause today... :D

One things that will never change is it takes half the time to take it down than it does to put it up. Took me almost a full day to put everything up down here and I took it all down in less than 2 hours. Just outside, haven't done inside.

2+0+1+7 =10 ... 1+0 =1.....1 is the number of new beginnings...;)

It's been eons since I've lived anywhere you could have an autumn bonfire of leaves...I loved that smell too...:)
Can you do that anywhere anymore? If.it isn't a fire danger then it's an air quality issue.;):)

Yesterday was supposed to be a relaxing day for us. We were invited to our son's for the traditional pork roast dinner. I'd bought the roast already and made broccoli casserole and French Apple Cake. At 10:30 we got a phone call from our son saying they were still at the ER... Seems Miles was coughing like crazy the night before so he couldn't sleep and he was having some difficulty breathing so they headed to the ER. Didn't really do anything different for him other than give him a long lasting steroid (lasts 3 days) for the "croupy cough" that only lasted a short time and sent them home. So, we headed over and found the 3 of them on the couch all looking like hell. We sent them to bed and I made the dinner. When Miles woke up due to coughing I took him out in the stroller because that's what the doc said to do. He lied. The cold air didn't help. I'd done a brisk mile with him by the time we got home so at least I got my walk in for the day. By the time we got home at 7:30 we were exhausted.

Miles had a better night last night, but still had coughing fits. Next stop is with GI and Pulmonary docs. Sheesh. I sure hope their next baby due in Feb doesn't have these problems.
Prayers for the young man are on the way.

Fake news. We get some "king tides" when when the sun, moon and earth line up just right. Causes some decent flooding in low lying areas but, always has. The make a lot of noise about it but, don't do anything. Their attitude towards traffic overall is pretty screwed up. Rather than fix roads to handle more traffic they try to hamper the flow so people will shop and work in their own neighborhood. Only problem is this place is so spread out that it ain't never going to happen. :-x:nah:
