On da udder hand, while there are a plethora of free add ons, there are also paid ones. Here's one...

Yeah while looking at the skystream there is an addon costs $3 a month and when you look for sources you want to watch will bring up the most reliable first and point them out.

I kinda like the idea of this skystream you aren't just buying a box you are buying a service that is based in the US and you can get tech support almost instantly by calling or using FB Twitter. Constantly upgrading your apps for you. But like I say the initial cost is not cheap also 1 year warranty and 2 year return policy I believe. Oh and it comes with Sports Devil already loaded ready to use.

I am still figuring out Kodi and have a thought/question.

I just searched for "TV Media Streamers" and got the big commercial ones (Amazon, Apple, Roku, etc.). I was reading through them and one review gave a list of the servers that it "searched" at for content. It did not seem to be just a general internet search and it said that you pay for individual pieces of content.

With Kodi, I get the impression that it has many, many more servers that it goes to and the lists of servers can be expanded via "builds". AND, many of those sites are free to stream from. Is that generally correct?

With that in mind, what about viruses coming along with streaming? Is that a consideration?

This based upon just using a Kodi box, not the software on a computer.

Thanks

kodi is world wide. No limitations. Builds "can" add other add ons but generally... you can add them yourself. I've found builds to be more of a PITA than anything else.
Virus thru streaming? Not to my knowledge... yet. But who knows what the future brings.

Ok. Time to re post my kodi beginningz. I ain't no kodi guru!
Couple months ago, oven broke. Hadda call da guy.
Had tv on and da guy brought up the fact that he cut the cable 2 yearz ago. Watches anything he wants on his puter with kodi.
I sed.... wutz a kodi? :(

He said watch anything you wanna watch that's ever been broadcast anywhere in da world ever, anytime, anywhere, any country. He sed u can even buy a box to hook up to your tv. (He wuz from the UK so he liked to watch his country's shows)

I sed... uh huh.

Was itching at me. So a few daze later, downloaded it.
Um... remember when u got yer first puter? You booted it up and there was the dos prompt? And you sed to yerself... ok, now wut, Ollie?
Same thing.
Now, I don't really do movies mutch. More into history, discovery etc. Thing is, those shows aren't broadcasteder at da same time here. Sometimes a few days. Few weeks. Few months later. Oh... I'm likin' this! :D

You can sit around and start a conversation about shows you remember as a kid. Nostalgia! Difference is... you can fire up kodi and watch them. Right then and there. Remember that old movie you loved? You can wait for it to come on TCM or... watch it. Right then and there. It's always on. THAT is what's so fascinating about it to me. Think of it... watch it.

Will free kodi go away at some point? Most likely. But I doubt kodi streaming will ever go away.

he, he ... just because ... last night I watched some of the original 1937 Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs. Now that was animation. No CGI/computer generated stuff. Also, I've got the original Song of the South queued up.

but, i found some step-by-step instructions on a forum and got it working. took all of 3 minutes :)

Hi folks. Again checking in while hugely behind. Somewhere around 500 or so. Oops. Doree and I went to the commissary up at Patrick AFB today. 2 1/2 hours up, 1/2 hour for lunch, 2 hours shopping and 2 1/2 hours back. 30 minutes putting the dry goods away and we haven't started on the 55 qt cooler full of meat. I am tired!:)

I bet you are tired!! Hope you got some good rest after all that. Doing the shopping is only 1/2 the job, then you gotta come home and tackle the other half by putting it all away. And you had all that driving too! Anyway, it's nice that you still took the time to drop in.

Look what I made for the doggies today. Scrap wood and an old quilt.

Sent from a dark, twisted corner of the back porch, covered in cobwebs and slightly damp.

Good job Russell. Bet they love it! But now you need a little night light and railing to bring it up to code...

Well I figured out how I can watch the game tomorrow night for free. I'm going to add slingtv to my Roku and use the 7 day free trial which will give me ESPN. I have the El Cheapo package from Dish $20 and all I get is the locals and a bunch of religious channels and informecial channels. I still don't really know if the Kodi is for me or not. We have more movies and series then we can watch with the Roku and I never have a buffering issue plus I have HBOgo Roku has a lot of channels but most are crap between Netflix and Amazon We rarely watch anything else except for like the Voice and a few other shows Ginny records and the games. Waiting to see if the race starts or not.

Seriously, truly great to have ya drop in! Hows life on da Atlantic side?
Not bad. Been really busy and haven't had the PODS with all our stuff delivered yet. Shooting for a week from Monday. They don't do bulk pickup cept on Monday around here and I got more crapola to throw away than I am allowed to put out at one time. Tossing all the living room furniture to make room for mine. Before anybody jumps on the "donate it" bandwagon, even poor people wouldn't want this crap. It is seriously wore out. The couch is a hide-a-bed and it's falling apart. Everything else the same age. Also the damn couch weighs a ton. Getting rid of a chair, love seat and the aforementioned couch. Also have to get rid of the bed, frame and a dresser from the master bedroom. I looked into if I could call the city for a special pickup but that ain't happening either.
On the weather side although this is called the start of the dry season it's rained at least twice everyday since we got.down here. What fun.

A little break from the kodi talk... I gotta brag!!!!!!

This weekend the IACBA (International All-Breed Canine Association) held a weekend of shows in Ocala, 4 shows in 2 days. It's a wonderful, informal, fun format. The judges rate the dogs (most excellent, excellent, very good, good, etc). You need 3 most excellent ratings for the International Title, you don't have to "win" to earn your championship. It's all about the dog. Plus the judges give a written critique on each dog. Yea, long days, BUT!!

Not only did we (Geordi and I) walk away with enough most excellent ratings to get our International Championship (every judge gave him a V-1), we got 1 Herding Group 2, 3 (count 'em 3!) Herding Group 1s, AND, drum roll please, 1 BEST IN SHOW!!!!!!! Needless to say, I am floating on air! Geordi was fantastic!

My good boy with his loot (yea, the picture is big..) :D:

You got that right. Spend around $450 mostly meat. Finally got it all broke up and in the freezer. Some we got marinaded and frozen. If you like marinading meat doing before you freeze it and freezing it with the marinade works great.

Just put it out front with a free sign probably gone by morning. Course that might not fly with your neighborhood SS president.
