Been really busy and kind of down for some reason. Got a doctor's appointment on the 20th and I hope I like her and she can work with me. Gotta get a CT with contrast fairly quick. I was supposed to have one in May and was too busy to get it. I had already said bye to my oncologist and hadn't moved yet. I'm sure it'll be fine, been cancer free for 4 years ans feel fine. I do have good news though....
We put the house in Virginia on the market on the Thursday when we left and sold it on Friday. Was on the market for less then a day. We were loading the pods and a lady stopped and ask if we were moving in or out. After telling her out, she ask if she could look at the house so I showed her around. Turns out her son is a chaplain in the Navy and was looking for a nice house for the family. Couple with two kids. Anywho, she loved it and brought her son by that evening. He liked it too. I gave him my realtors card and he called him Thursday before we even really listed it. Paid what we ask. Makes me kind of think we didn't ask enough but we were higher than the comps. All I know is he got a hell of a house. After the home inspection, we got gigged on the roof. It was 25 years old so we ended up replacing it. There where a bunch of other little things that I said if they fixed them we'd get the roof. Of course they jumped on it. Now they have a house that is really good as new. The little things the inspector gigged us on were just because I ran outta time. Mostly stuff in the garage/workshop. Things like wires that weren't terminated properly when I snatched out the compressor and other tools. Just turned the breakers off and left em hanging.
Close this and continue catching you all up in the nexr post.;)

But the good news is Kate, Brian and Huxley arrive around supper time today. Can't wait to see them all. It was snowing in Denver too ... thankfully the flight is only delayed 45 minutes (so far).
awwwwwww that's great they're coming to visit!! How long will they be able to stay?

Currently a pleasant 82°F here on Florida's Suncoast...
I'm so jealous! No idea what the temp is........app on puter says 20 with wind chill of 4 degrees, app on phone says 76. Both are F and have been refreshed. We are expecting a blue norther today. one says overnight low will be 20, the other says 10. Either way that's just horrible for this area!!!

We put the house in Virginia on the market on the Thursday when we left and sold it on Friday. Was on the market for less then a day.
Great to see you and wahooooooooo!!!!!!!!! on the house!! that's fantastic!

Now that it has gotten down to 42 degrees, i am enjoying listening to all of the other Texans complain that they are freezing

Sent from a dark, twisted corner of the back porch, covered in cobwebs and slightly damp.
Well, it's 82 here now, with a freeze warning for tonight. So lol!

The trip out of Hampton to here was nuts. We were not able to stay in the house after Thursday as the movers we hired to load the pods were loading Thursday morning, but weren't leaving until Friday or Saturday. The plan was to stay in the motorhome until we left.

I really hadn't moved the motorhome in four years. Ran it regularly and especially while my buddy and I were fixing the dash a/c. That took us about a week because of some weirdness in the manuals and some parts I had never seen before. Turns out the part that was giving me fits wasn't even needed. It was only there to assist in factory assembly. All I had to do is take out the guts and everything worked great. Finished that up on Tuesday.

Time to take the motorhome for a quick check ride and fill it up with gas. Plan was to change the oil when I got back to the house. Went through the neighborhood just so I wasn't out on the main drag in case anything went wrong. Everything seemed fine so out to the main drag I went and headed down to the gas station.

The street I was on is 4 lane, 2 each way. About half way to the gas station the engine just cut out and I rolled to a dead stop. No amount of cranking would start it. The gas gauge has always been squirrelly and both my buddy and I thought it was outta gas so I called Doree and she brought me 5 gallons of gas. Now this bus has an 80 gallon tank so 5 gallons is a drop in the bucket, maybe it wasn't enough? We added ten more gallons and still no starting.

We called the towing service, only one in town that can tow it, damn thing weighs 8 tons. Took the tow truck about 4 hours to arrive. Next down to the shop I went.

Turns out the fuel pump had died and needed to be replaced. The shop put the rush on and dropped the tank, replaced the pump, had to actually make up one from a generic kit as they don't make the original anymore. Also had them change the oil. $1200 later, I'm on my way home.

About halfway home some guy on a pickup truck pulls up alongside me, beeps his horn and tells me my left front brakes are smoking. Pulled over and checked it out. Yep, smoking. The shop I just left was now closed so I just drove it home.

By the time I got home the left front brakes were so hot that I really was concerned about them catching fire or melting the bead on the tire. Broke out the garden hose and went to work cooling them down. Of course that's not good for them at all. Definately would warp the rotors. Turns out the left front caliper was frozen on.

I called the shop in the morning and was told that a front brake job was going to be around $2500 + towing ($300 minimum). Nope can't afford that. Going to have to do it myself. Started that morning and replaced front rotors, calipers, pads, bearings and brake hoses. 3 1/2 days later the brakes work better than they ever had. Time to get on the road. More on the journey later. The story gets better and better. Remember, hurricane Matthew? You geussed it, he's involved in the story as well.

Stay tuned! More to come.:lol:

When we left Hampton, Virginia hurricane Matthew was just moving in on South Florida and we knew it's basic predicted track.

Decide that heading down I-95 wasn't a good idea. We decided to go down I-85 instead. The original plan was to spend the first night in Santee State Park in South Carolina. That wasn't going to happen so we made reservations at a campground in Gaffney, S.C., we also had reservations at the KOA Campground in Port Orange, FL. The place in Port Orange was about two blocks from my brothers house.

When we got to the campground in Gaffney the hurricane was romping all over Peter and Gracie and my brother's in Daytona. Watched the news and prayed that everything would be ok. As soon as it looked like it was past Port Orange we tried calling the KOA. No answer.

The original plan was to stay in Gaffney overnight and proceed down I-85 thru Atlanta and cut over via I-10 and down to Orlando then over I-4 to Daytona. Ended up staying in Gaffney for three days as hurricane Matthew crapped all over the east coast. I-95 was closed in several places due to flooding when we left Gaffney.

Meanwhile, as the generator in the motorhome wasn't working, I was depending on the newly repaired dash a/c to keep me cool while driving. I forgot to mention that Tori was following us in Doree's car (more on Doree's car later). Everytime I turned on the dash a/c the fan belt would squeal. Eventually it would stop but, it was obviously getting worse. Well somewhere in between Gaffney, SC and Altlanta the belt finally broke. Of course it was the only thing I hadn't replaced while repairing the a/c. Dooooh! That'll have to be fixed later. Luckily the only thing that the belt served was the A/C. Everything else still worked. We proceeded down the road.

Still trying to find someplace reasonably close to Daytona to stay. Still calling the KOA with no answer. Finally ended up at a $65 a night campgound in Kissimmee, FL near Disney World. Still couldn't find anyplace in the Daytona area. Hell, couldn't even get anyone to answer the phone. Stayed three days in Kissimmee. Finally found a place on Nova Road in Port Orange. Owned by the same company that had the Kissimmee campground. We ended up staying there for four days. The first three days at $45 a night. The last night at $85 because it was the first day of biketoberfest. The third biggest biker gathering behind Sturgest and Daytona Bike Week during the summer. Who knew.

After visiting my brother and family in Daytona it was off to Palm Bay to visit Tori's mother and brothers. One night in her driveway and then it was a short 3 hour drive to Deerfield Beach. My brother in law met us at the house and we frantically unloaded the motorhome. By the HOA rules we couldn't leave it in front if the house overnight even though we're on the end of the road and wouldn't have bothered anyone. Needless to say it's now in storage and I have been so busy that I haven't even had a chance to check it since we got here. Luckily you can see it from the main drag and I know it's ok.

Well we're here and the move is complete although, I still have many, many boxes to unpack. The week between Christmas and New Year's day is already spoken for. I'm changing the breaker panel in the laundry room as it no longer meets code and you can't buy new breakers for it. After that I'm installing an on demand water heater. The existing tank heater has a bad element and takes forever to recover. As it's probably 25 years old, it's time to replace it.

I could spend another ten paragraphs telling you everything that I've fixed or replaced since we got here but, I don't want to bore you any further. Suffice it to say, I've been busy!

Glad to be back here and will really try to check in more often. Sorry if I worried you all. Just know that I love you all and think of you often. Semi, I haven't forgotten the small water heater just haven't gotten that far down the list.

Later all.:wub::lol:

howdy Zen and welcome to the porch! Yur not buttin in at all. Have they kicked up the power on Subarus? Only time I ever drove one was 88 when I was fixin to buy a new car. I wanted a small wagon.....don't recall which Subaru it was now, but I nearly got killed tryin to get up on the hwy cuz it had no oomph. May have just been that model, or maybe an issue with them around that time.

Yes Debadoo, they have made changes. Not gonna beat anyone off the line at the stop lights, but live in hill country and have no problems. Of course the young ones in their jacked up trucks, think I'm too slow for them. I just laugh as I hear their gas/diesels suck in $10 bucks of fuel.
