Yesterday we were forecast to have severe weather so I cleaned out the wimp cellar and made sure the TV in the workshop was ready to use. I have an old analog TV and a converter box hooked up to an inside antenna that I sometimes use while in the workshop. When we are under a tornado warning, I watch the weather on the local NBC station and track the tornados. If there is one coming close to us I will then go into the cellar. My neighbors have spent more time in my cellar than I have. Long story short, we did not have any of the storms here where I live. The storms were East and South of us. I am not sorry about missing the strong winds and hail that were predicted. But it is Springtime in Oklahoma so I would rather be prepared than caught without having things in order.
Whew! Glad it all missed you. You've done good prep, tho!

Hey if you want to see a good show on what we go through with our prescriptions which is very close to what vapers are going through also. It is a real eye opener. On Netflix called"Dr.Feel Good". Check it out and see if you don't think this is the same thing as vaping is for us, for people with Chronic Pain and see if you don't think this is more govt BS.

Glad y'all dodged da ol' meteorological bullet(s)! At least ya were prepped fer da worst.

Dat's why I'd rather live in 'cane territory vs 'nado zones; mo' prep/warning/escape time. Better prepared and not need it vs. not prepared and suffer!

No mo'... but thanx to technology we can 'recapture' sum of our youthful memories...

Dave, Smokey da Bear sure would be proud of ya. Ya did one hellava job on puttin' out dat campfire!

Seriously, luv your drone/dancin' vids. BTW, how long does it take ya from landing, thru processing up 'til posting your vids?

Sum folk just don't appreciate da efforts to entertain and/or educate. Fortunately, many here do... thanx!

Thanks for the props, Iffy! I guesstimate that I average about 75 minutes of editing work for each video. That doesn't include rendering time, where the computer is doing the work, or upload time, when the Internet is doing the work. Rendering takes 15 minutes to an hour, and uploading takes 20 minutes to 3+ hours. The main reason that those times are so long is because these days I almost always render and upload at least in HD and usually in 4K.

Today's video took more of my time than average, because it was a threefer. (I wasn't happy with the results of either my first effort or my second effort). I'm having a blast, though, learning to do more and more tricks in the editing process.

You may remember recent posts from members of this fine tribe, talking about the benefits of a full night's sleep and pointing out the evils of long naps during the day. I assure you that none of those posts came from me.

I'm hangin in, sellin patio furniture now, can no longer afford my celebrex, so real happy about that. Settled and comfortable in my rv. Dogs are good, wife is almost finished with school. Still lurking and fuming. (See my previous tirade.) Keeping the dark rider at bay though sheer stubbornness and massive amounts of coffee.

Thank you. We were hit in '99 by an F5 tornado and our neighborhood was decimated. Right after that we had the wimp cellar installed. I hope it is the biggest waste of money we ever spend! Actually, it has been worth purchasing for the peace of mind it has given us. I still need to reseal the floor and make some new benches.

Glad y'all dodged da ol' meteorological bullet(s)! At least ya were prepped fer da worst.
Thanks, I'm glad we dodged it, too. I've lived in hurricane areas and I prefer to be in tornado alley. We at least can stay home in our safe shelter and not have to worry about our house for however long we wouldn't be able to return home.

Sounds like me and my vape stash. Probably more that I'll ever need. But, worth it for the peace of mind.

That kit is overpriced for what ya get with it, and the Phantom 4 Pro is proving less troublesome so far than the Phantom 4 Pro Plus, which is what that kit has.

Yeah, most kits I've ever seen are overpriced, and often have sub-par 'accessories' - DSLR kits, computer/monitor/printer kits, etc.

You need to define long range.

'Long' range would be a mile+ but... see below :)

For under $500 there's only one sensible choice: DJI Phantom 3 Standard with 2.7K Camera and 3-Axis CP.PT.000168. You'll get range of around half a mile in open areas.

Half-mile range would be fine for me ATM... and I like the idea of starting on the 'Phantom platform'. I'm a tinker and customizer by nature, and like the idea of lots of accessories and customizations, and on a popular platform where it's easy to find parts, etc.

BTW... Do you know of an online 'clearinghouse-type' website specifically for selling/buying used quad/drone equipment? (besides ebay)

Thanks for your help Dave

I'd be scared to buy anywhere except Ebay, or from a dealer, or from someone I knew. But, there's a classified section on a forum that I frequent at www.phantompilots.com

B&H Photo often has used, returned drones for sale at a nice discount, and I've always been happy with their customer service and their 90 day return policy. However, they've recently gotten burned by the number of new Phantoms which have gotten returned and I think that for new Phantoms they no longer offer the no-questions-asked 90 day return. For used drones, I believe but am not sure that the 90 day policy still exists. On the plus side, Phantom 3 models are no longer going through the growing pains that cause people to return new Phantoms. The Phantom 3 models are tried and true, with the kinks having been ironed out. On the negative side, DJI no longer produces new Phantom 3 drones, and they've even stopped making the standard Phantom 4, concentrating on the Phantom 4 Pro, Phantom 4 Pro Plus, and Mavic. If you're willing to spend $1000, the DJI Mavic is much smaller and therefore more portable than a Phantom, but, from what I'm hearing, very capable.

There is only one drone with attached high-quality camera, 3 axis-gimbal and GPS worth buying that is NOT made by DJI, in my opinion. That's the Autel Robotics X-Star Premium.
