I remember that story. There have been some where they have replaced bird beaks too.
That was the first I had heard of it. I just thought that it was a really cool use of modern technology.
Wow, how cool is that!! It's amazing the poor thing didn't die when the shell was burned off. I wonder if it's own shell will ever be able to grow back enough or will it probably need new shells as it gets older.
I had the same thought about the shell. It did say that it was a 4-piece shell, so maybe they overlap and can shift/expand as needed for a time? I don't know... I expect that it may need new shells as it ages, but they don't grow very fast, so that would probably be a while. Either way, I thought that it was a super cool story! That morning show always does a "Can I get an Amen" segment. So, every morning on my way to work, I get to hear some little feel good story.
