Sounds like you're speaking from personal experience there, Bells. ;) I was kinda hoping that I'd run across some new power technology that would negate the need for our antiquated power cell method. :(

I thought so, too. :) I'll have to try to remember to take note of the morning show's stories each morning... I could share my "morning feel good stories" with the rest of y'all!
Unfortunately they don't make a matter/antimatter reactor small enough for that. Besides i can't even explain why I would need a 150 watt device much less a super gigawatt device.

Happy Vaperversary Deb. 4 years is a major milestone. I find myself not even thinking about it anymore. Mine crept up and passed before any if us even realized it. I think after my fifth I'm going to stop celebrating them. :)
Happy 4th to you too then! and thanks hun!! I don't think I'll ever get tired of it. It still just amazes me that I don't smoke.

I had another sweetie tell me the same thing this afternoon. I haven't received any calls yet, and today is Monday, and I was rather expecting it. However, my body and mind are SCREAMING at me to say NO, and I will. I can't take anymore. I just can't.
You really had best set yourself up so that you don't even have to resist. For example, turn the phone off or some other such arrangement. When you're in the middle of pushing through, you don't realize how far gone you are until it's too late. And, once it's too late, it may take 2 years to recover instead of just a week or two.

On another note, I've been pretty much taking it easy here on the island. Because of the bankruptcy and all the other stupid stuff that goes along with it, I don't know how much longer I'll be on this base. They're saying our contract is up in August or October. I don't know which, and don't really care at this point. I'm not lamenting the fact that I may have to leave my beloved island workplace. What I AM doing is going out in the evening on the porch at the OPs building and enjoying the magnificent sunsets over the bayou that runs in the back of the base. This morning I walked up onto the dunes in the back of our living quarters and breathed in peace while enjoying the picture of the full moon shining down on the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Nobody can EVER take those mental pictures from me.
Sounds beautiful.
I didn't really intend to tell y'all this until later, but - wife's in the shower, kids aren't up yet, and, for once, I don't feel like getting outside this morning just yet, so...

This past Mother's Day, my wife and I drove to my brothers house (~2 hrs from here) in my work van, followed by our kids in daughters car. After the festivities, my wife rode back home with the kids and I followed Mom home and spent the night with her. Monday morning, I went to Mom's rental house to finish up getting it ready to rent out again (last renters left it in a mess).

There by myself, on a quiet morning in a quiet, pleasant neighborhood. Around 9:15 a.m., I was bent over the back of my van, radio on, looking for a tool. Someone slipped up behind me, stuck (what I later found out was) a pistol at the base of my skull, and said something I didn't understand. Startled, as I stood up and turned around to my left, I saw a young black guy with a black knit watchcap pulled down to his eyebrows and a black mask pulled up over his nose, dressed in all-black clothes. I swept around hard and fast, raised my left arm hard and knocked his hands off me as I spun around. I stepped into him, pushing him back, and started hitting him... that's when I saw the pistol in his right hand. Even more startled, I jumped back - and he did too. From about 10 feet away, as we locked eyes, he held the pistol up about eye-level, sideways, and pointed it at me - and in that instant I thought he was going to shoot me.

About a millisecond later, I decided I wasn't going to stand still and get shot, so I turned, ran to the (thankfully open) driver side door of my van, reached between the seats and quickly retrieved my always-ready 9mm High Power. Flipped off the safety, turned around pointing the pistol in his direction... and he was gone. I ran to the edge of the carport and looked out to see him getting into a waiting black car at the edge of the street, about 30yds away. I raised the pistol and steadied it, lined up the sights on him, gritted my teeth, and... I didn't shoot - but I wanted to!

I'm sure I could have hit him at least once, and for sure could have shot up the car... but decided against it. If I had shot him, or even at him, while he was "retreating", I probably would have been charged!

Finishing my work there took the rest of the day... and wearing a full-size pistol while installing a new dishwasher, doing yard work, and fixing a fence is a pita.

14 seconds...

At home alone the next morning, in my back yard, I re-enacted the incident with a stopwatch... the whole thing lasted only 14 seconds.... and I could have been shot dead at least two separate times during that 14 seconds.

Quite a harrowing experience... the adrenaline dump alone took me two days to get over - it made my lower back hurt like the dickens!... just pounding, throbbing for days after...

Now I know first hand what is meant by "life changing experience". I'm more thankful, more introspective - and yet more cynical and less trusting.

And I'll never go to that house again (or even to Albany period) unless I'm wearing a Jackass Leather (now Galco) holster, with a Browning HP in it.
Incredible reflexes! I'm glad it turned out so well.
The whole dream is long, so won't go into it, but I could check out and go to another place, and no one knew I was gone.
That reminds me of a show I saw a long time ago. I can't remember what the point was. Maybe relaxation techniques? They were teaching people to train their bodies and minds to react the way they want by developing triggers.

A trigger to give yourself a quick instant vacation whenever you want would be so nice!
In other (wonderful) news............
Today I am 4 years smoke free!!!! Never ever would have thought that was possible!!!
Congrats! Four years of freedom is amazing!

Uman, do't worry about it. LIke you I sometimes venture to WiFi free zones and disappear for a short time, but always know that when I come back I am always welcome - just like you are.

These are our friends and alwyas will be. RL may be a bit tough at times and keep you busy, but when it does let up just wander back in and say Hi - we just missed ya - that's all... :)

Lightning Vapes Vape Towel Debs, you need your monogram on this. I find that a washcloth works just as well.

I luv my micro fiber towels! Bought a couple packages of 24 on $ale 'bout two decades ago; great inve$tment. One package is still unopened. Da list of how I've used 'em is all too long to post here. Did I mention I luv 'em?

I guess that my dad wasn't the only person that Mr. Koronis had talked to about his fluctuating gas mileage.

So yes, the only time I was ever brought home by the cops was when I was caught putting gas in a car.

One of da local 'Ramp Rats' dat worked fer da local phone company years ago luvs to brag 'bout doin' da same to a co-worker!

Hey here is how worried P Busardo is about the FDA. He decided a while back to quit the job he's had as an engineer for some company that hired him out of college and go into business selling his own label of juice and he is still going through with it.

Well I decided not to take my computer to the Geeks at Best Buy after what you guys said and some of the reviews I read. So I called the local plumber who seems to know everybody in the area. He told me to go to this place cause they are trustworthy so my trusty 17.3" laptop is there. They charged me $111 up front for diagnosing and 1 hour of labor so we'll see. I am pretty sure that it just needs a fan but after 5 or 6years of almost constant use it wouldn't hurt to have it checked out. My battery was shot but I knew that and ordered one from Amazon. Got a middle of the road one for $44.

Yeah, but how do they wick?

Sent from a dark, twisted corner of the back porch, covered in cobwebs and slightly damp.

I have had a personal policy against offering advice for most all my life, hell, I don't even take my own .. ;) .. I offered my suggestion up already .. but, I will say this .. ;)

When you and I first met in the HO, you were talkative, energetic, smiling and laughing .. and, you walked to your sink and did a little .... wiggle .. I then proceeded to coral you into speaking to me in Cajun .. which you did quite well I might add .. (it's a small fetish, folks, don't ask) ..

My question :: is that girl still in there, somewhere .. ?? Because, if she is, let her out ASAP .. ;)
:DOh, it's going to take more than this to knock this Cajun Queen down. I've still got my rapier wit,BWAHAHAhahahahah, vivacious personality, sick sense of humor, AND the Cajun accent. I'm going to try to be in the HO for Sunday brunch.

Do not wait for rock bottom, Roto. You won't be able to work at all then. Why should you hit the bottom to wake up? This has gone on far too long. Please! We are really worried about you!
I appreciate the sentiment, I do, and all of you are RIGHT! Boss hasn't called me, and it doesn't matter if he does. The answer is no.....Just that simple.

@Rotowoman if what I said about changing your caller id to read "Do Not Answer" didn't work try changing it to "Unknown Caller" for the week off
Heh Heh.....I aint' changing NOTHING. I will be more than happy to VOCALLY tell him NO!!

Roto, stick to your guns for US no matter what your incredibly amazing work ethic is falsely telling you at the moment of decision. We have the best interests of the entire universe at our cores. That includes YOU, and we wouldn't steer you wrong.
No worries, Bells, and I appreciate the concern. I've had enough of being Superwoman.

And the turtle story? Amazing what they can do with technology these days.

Roto, stick to your rest, sounds like you are on a good track.
