My escape from the news consists at the moment of watching Wimbledon tennis.

Raonic just beat Federer to become the first Canadian man ever to reach the men's final. In the other semifinal, Murray leads Berdych 2 games to none in the first set, on ESPN.

I'll admit that curiosity got the better of me. I didn't see the news last night, because we were watching shows that were recorded on the DVR, but I heard a blurb on the radio this morning and read through a single news article once I got to work. I'll keep my personal thoughts and feelings to myself...

Anybody want to chip in so that we can just buy a deserted island out in the Pacific somewhere?

We actually had an outline of what each person / couple would be in charge of .. problem was, Private Islands have gotten expensive these days ..

I can imagine... and demand for Private Islands is only increasing and the morality of the country decreases. I really do need to figure out a way to increase my odds of winning the Lotto. And I mean increase to the point that winning is ensured.

Sounds like a plan, brother... I'm thinking that, to save on the building footprint, we'll just build one tall condo... leave us more beach space.

And of course, we're gonna have to have one heck of a pier for fishing when we just don't feel like takin' the boat out.

Depends on how big the Lotto is when I hit it... If we really need to save space, we can always put the helipad on the roof of the condo.
If the island is big enough, then we'll just build it up like our own personal resort island/town. Private airport, marina, whatever we can dream up!

I thought the idea was to escape civilization .. ?? .. cue up "Naked and Not Afraid" ..

That won't do at all !! As discussed in the first old folks thread that Willie referred too....Too many people with rickety bones that can't climb stairs. Has to be a single level with easy handicap access. A tower building would require a great deal of energy provided to be kept cool and elevators would be required......we wanted more self sufficiency than that....

Not really escape it... more to build one that is more to our own liking and personal tastes. Sure, there'll be a little conflict, but if anybody gets too uppity, we just take their vape away for a day or two.

Hahahaha! I was just thinking about calling up some of my old Navy buddies and getting us set up with a nuclear reactor for power... I'm sure we could get whatever we need for that from China, right?
