jup that was the look my son had on his face last night! lol

Hey do any of you homeowners out there know if there is anything son or dil need to do today? The neighbors: he is deployed, she's rarely there, sometimes has a house sitter but not now. I'm sure we can find out who they are, and if nothing else, will contact him through the military, but would rather not do that if we don't have to. But do the kids need to contact their ins co (already been advised to do this), or file a police report about a delinquent tree :) or anything like that? Just to have a record of when it happened, or do anything that is time sensitive?

Wait. Just so I have this straight. The tree was the neighbors and it fell onto your house (your son and DILs)? And the neighbors are not home? Your homeowners can tell you what your and their responsibility is. Laws are different everywhere.

Thanks y'all. This house does mute a lot of outside sound, but I would think if the wind was blowing hard enough to break a tree that didn't already have damage, we'd have heard it. It wasn't uprooted, it actually broke near the bottom of the trunk, and is very splintered. It's still laying across the house. Hope my son is going to call from work, I told them a lot of stuff is time sensitive, and I imagine the ins. has a 24/7 claims line to at least leave a msg if nothing else, but should get a person I would think.

@classwife thanks for the insurance info. It better be on their HO's I know insurance is so screwy (sorry, but it is a lotta times) lol but they better be responsible. I've told em what to do dunno if they will. But you don't think the ins will need a police report? Is that only for car wrecks etc?

@Kenna I'm searching between being interrupted by other stuff, if I don't find it, I'll call ya. Thanks hun.

I can understand you not hearing it. This happened in our neighborhood, we live close to a small airport. A small airplane ran out of fuel on the approach to the runway. It tried to land in the common backyard of the houses in the neighborhood. But he didn't make it and crashed into the 2nd floor bedroom of one of the houses.

Neighbors saw it and rushed over to the house. The parents were on the back porch and had no idea it happened. They said they just thought their son was practicing his drums up in his room.

Awe lulu, just when things were settling down........... :D
Check @ Debadoo's spoiler. She got it right. ;)

I have restrained myself long enough. There have been a busload of inappropriate political posts here that I wrote responses for then decided not to post them. On that particular day I was about to sink in the horse hockey so there ya' go,

Police report...
No...there was not a person committing a crime.
ok, thanks. Wasn't sure if it was for just that, or for establishing time etc.

oh good, I can tell my son this. He couldn't understand when he got home why we didn't know it had happened lol

I've taken a lot of good pics......told the kids what they need to do, now it's up to them.

I WANTS! Sadly - I've been moving back home to Illinois - away from Colorado to help take care of my mother. As far as all that goes... well, that's a long story for many days to come.

What?! 40% TAX?! That's merely highway robbery right there! I'll be checking in from time to time with new stuff here and there... still plan on buying my vape stuff from Colorado (up to and including e-juice when needed) as the prices here in Illinois are ......ed. $25+ (USD of course) for a 30ml bottle of liquid at a couple of these shops around here. Dunno, just made me cringe the other day...
Illinois is one that got on the vape tax train this year. Sorry to hear your Mom is having problems. I hope things work out soon for both of you! Btw, last we heard you were in Florida!

We had quite the interesting night here when my son got home. Earlier Katy and I heard a brief low rumble kinda noise, sorta like distant thunder, but not quite, and Frankie ran to the door and started barking, but not real loud and not very many times. I'd fallen asleep on the couch.......my son comes in from work bout 2:30 am and looks at me funny, says, put your shoes on. Walk outside....... wow.......how come there's a tree on the house???? Neighbors tree fell on the house, and don't think anyone lives there. Will have to find out who owns it. Only thing is... now that it's daylight.......I wanna see if the noise we heard was a chain saw cuz the wind wasn't blowing that we could tell. The house is very sound proof........ but still you'd think we'd have known that a tree fell on it. Took off part of the gutter, dunno what other damage yet.

So then, just to add to the fun, son says..........did Katy tell you that I cut part of my finger off???? o_O uhmmmmm NO!!!! It's just a tiny piece on the side, but he had to go to the ER cuz they could not get it to stop bleeding, but it was enough to take off a lil bit of the nail also. thank God it wasn't worse!
Who owns it? Obviously you all do now! ;)
Hope everything is ok and the insuramce works out. Actually around here he would own what was originally on his property but anything hanging over the line would be yours. In other words you can lop off any branches that hang over you side of the line anytime you want to. As far as liability now that's all on him. Least in Virginia.:)

You need to take any steps necessary to minimize the damage to your property. In other words get the tree removed.

@DebiK ,

Double the Happy! Double the Joy! Congratulations on BOTH, DebiK & Hubby TOO!

Post away. Don't make a fart in a whirlwind to me. I was just bein silly anyway. It's all good, lulu. ;) :)

Well, I didn't figure song one would last too long. On the, 'I still claim innocent" side, there weren't any bad words in the song, it was the title that was naughty.......... Never again though. ;)

As far as the car goes, ya, seen a lot of "start ups" pre selling cars that never actually make it to market so I'd pass too until they're actually in production and have fulfilled the initial pre-orders. Now, after that, and a reasonable "teething period", I'd snatch one up in a heartbeat. I doubt they'll ever achieve the 84 MPG they're shootin' for but anything over 50 MPG would still be great. I "built" one on their site (customizing tab) and even with the "extras" it still only came to $7,523. Try and find another two seat vehicle with A/C, Upgraded stereo w/USB, carpet and front & rear spoilers for that little coin. ;)

It's bread & juice day! Back in a few......

Meet Me in St Louie Louie
After a grueling day of yardwork, spraying the insects and doing my part to stop Zika, mowing, trimming, edging, fertilization, etc, two neighbors made it a point to bring me a beer and tell me I have the best looking yard on the street .. which then made me later decide to treat myself to a Sonic Classic Banana Split ... :)

Don't everybody talk at once, now...........

:tumble: :tumble: :tumble:

<peekin' 'round corner> Oh tay, latest update on da new ramp rat dat I mentioned two weeks ago. He dropped by Monday and was in good spirits. Shook his hand and said,

"Glad I didn't scare ya off."
"No, ya didn't, at all. Thanx!"

Apparently I didn't in dat he was back Tues. & Thurs. Really haven't a chance fer a one-on-one. But dat's OK. His 'move, his 'timetable', if at all ...

Just had a 'toad strangler' wid a great God's light show. Still got power... He and our home! Did determine I'll have to call da rain gutter (three months old) installer and do a lil' convincing dat he needs to do a followup.

Ya'll have a grand August!

@Uncle Willie That does look really good. I just finished eating some of a watermelon I bought the other day. When I buy one I let it chill in the fridge and then slice them up and cube the slices. I then put them in containers so my daughter can take some to work as a snack. We have been having some stormy weather. Anytime there is a change in barometric pressure my back tells me to just stay seated and don't try moving. Today I have been sitting back watch Nat Geo Wild. There have been some great shows about Africa today.

Hey do you remember H Salt Esq. Fish and chips. English style with malt vinegar and sea salt on them. Yumm

still nominally around, tho seem to be a SoCal thing now. the last one i went to in NoCal closed a few years ago.

H.Salt

until i went there, i had no freakin idea that malt vinegar absolutely belonged on steak fries

who'da thunk it?
