You probably already know this, but pressing F7 before WIN10 begins it's boot will put you into Repair Mode .. I used it a few weeks ago on a friends PC and discovered that, at least in their case, WIN10 had created it's own Repair File some where along the way ..

And yes, I know F8 used to put you in Safe Mode .. don't know if it still does ..

Turned off speed boot in the bios and got to the windows this that and the other thing. Didn't see an option for a simple safe mode. Repair did it's usual... sux being you. She decided to do a system restore.

Y wood eye dew dat? By the time u need it, you can't find it anyway. But getting into standard safe mode (yes, they say it does exist but you can't get there from here) will usually let you modify it so it can work again. Birng it back up and tweak. Of course, NOT being able to get into safe mode usually means yer totally skroood anywho.

Hitting the "sweet spot" during the boot can be a challenge these days .. I admit having to force off a few times before finally getting Repair Mode to engage .. the thing I learned was this F7 Repair Mode did, in fact, contain some sort of WIN10 Image which restored the system without a full normal system restore .. although it took about two hours .. I hate doing Full System Restore / Wipe, since then you're faced with Update's out the wazoo / you lose any and all tweaking that you've done ..

These days, on my own machines, since hard drives / USB sticks have got so cheap, I try to remember to just Clone a drive after I've finished getting the OS where I want it / stash the cloned drive / mark it as to what PC it was cloned from .. then, in case of catastrophe, I just swap drives, wipe the take out and re-clone ..

Any progress on reporting?

Jup, she called ins today. Also called the yard guy who will do away with the delinquent tree for 350.00 He's coming tomorrow. It appears that the tree is dead, she says it's all black in there. She did take pics for the ins. Adjuster will be out tomorrow also, but surprisingly isn't making any effort to get here before the yard guy. Of course they did say if the tree is dead, they'll go after the house owner's insurance. That's negligence.
