I was going to drop in but my infusion yesterday was a real bummer. I got there & they had scheduled me for an office visit as well as the infusion, which I was not prepared for in my budgeting. The news
threw me into an immediate panic attack & I couldn't even think whether or not I could pay it. So I paid for the infusion h told them Ivd pay for the office visit later since they hadn't made the scheduling clear. Infusion was ready for me at oncen so there wasn't time to fill out the paperwork they always want for the office visit. I got my pre-infusion meds which knock me out. The RN trying to get me stuck for the infusion, & the nurse wants the paperwork for the office visit, & because my writing hand is busy getting stuck three times I still can't fill it out. I'd walked in the door less than 10 minutes before. So the nurse sits down h starts asking me the questions on the paperwork. I'm fighting a panic attack & couldn't get it together enough to answer her. She finally left. Then the bloodwork vampire shows up, & wants me to come to the lab for her to stick me. She leaves, & the PA comes in h shevs ready to do the office visit exam. I still don't have a tube in a vein for the infusion. This is all in the first 10 minutes. They see what's going on, they see I can't get to them yetn but I had 4 people pulling me in different directions for the first 10 minutes I was there. I was there for 4 1/2 hours. They knew that & could have waited. Top that off with a steroid cocktail.
When I left, my head was spinning, I was groggy from the pre-infusion meds, h on a steroid high. I sat in the car with the ac blowing on me, & chain vaped with deep breathing. I'd been in a panic attack for +4 hours. I got it together, cleared my head, looked at my hands on the steering wheel, & they were full of nice fat veins that had not been there before, even though I knew I was hydrated enough. I ran my errandsn thinking about how that could be. Came home & did some research h guess what causes your circulation to choke off? Anxiety! It shuts down breathibg, bloodflow, & some brain function. Itvs the fight or flight thing. Your body shuts off everything except what you need to flee or fight whatever the perceived threat is. No wonder they can never find a vein.
