It goes both ways. Excessive weight is both a cause and result of impaired mobility. I had no need to apologize when I was using them, and that had more to do with working too long and hard and ignoring fatigue and stress.

oh I know ya weren't hun. And I wasn't rebuking you. I apologize for it seeming that way. One of my adopted kids and I were in walmart and she was aggravated that there were no scooters for me. At that time I could walk about 30 minutes before I was in a ton of pain, but we'd passed that time by a lot. She saw a heavy woman riding a scooter and made a comment about how if that fat B would git up and walk, she'd lose weight and there might be scooters for folks who need em cuz there wuzn't nuttin wrong with her. I told her..... Don't you think people think the very same thing about me til they see me trying to stand up to reach something? I don't LOOK like there is anything wrong with me either when I'm sittin down.

jup........and I thought those were horrible, til I had a child and realized just how quickly and quietly they can walk off from ya. I still never used one with my son, but I did keep him in the buggy all the time.

What's a Rider Robust?

The Hybris looks just like the round Rider Robust except that it has an eGo connection on top instead of just a 510 connection.

I stocked up on several so I have an out-and-about small mod, like an eGo Twist with a replaceable battery.

@Debadoo I feel bad about saying that because I was overweight all my life till 15 years ago and I see many people who are overweight that can't possibly walk even if they wanted too. So I'm not picking on anyone. But I've also seen people when I'm sitting in the car while Gin does the shopping that are obviously not disabled and I know Gin is not either and she doesn't use the spots when she is by herself but if I am with her she does so if I have to go use the bathroom it's not so far if we can find one. We got a warning ticket one time for parking on the line at WalMart because the guy next to us was using his and part of ours.

Yes! Those were great! My sister had one for her son. We'd go to the Mall & he'd walk around with his hands in his pockets. All chill, like he was there on his own. He'd window shop, walk a little more, stop at another window. We just followed him & watched him. Just a leash distance away. He was a great little shopper!

Hey none of us do. Well I wear shorts all the time in case I need to make an adjustment so can't say that either.

Yes! Those wrre great! My sister had one for her son. We'd go to the Mall & he'd walk around with his hands in his pockets. All chill, like he was there on his own. He'd window shop, walk a little more, stop at another window. We just followed him & watched him. Just a leash distance away. He was a great little shopper!

My mom had one for me when we would take the Greyhound into Seattle and go shopping at the Bon Marche. In those days it was 25 miles into Seattle and my dad was always busy building and my mom didn't drive and I could be a handful.

I have an appointment Oct 11th with PC about this anxiety & finding out why I don't have veins on my right side. Might by an angio in my near future. Last one was in Sept 2010 when they found the blockage on the left & I haven't been back since. Looking at several medical procedures soon.

They don't sound very worried about it. Shouldn't they see you sooner?

Durn .. must have got stoned and missed those .. not that I ever really look .. .. since I still use a Twist / Spinner with EVODS, do they make something like this for EVODS with replaceable batteries .. ?? That would be the shizzle, for me anyway ..

don't feel bad hun.......I know you didn't mean it like that. And jup, I see it all the time myself. I stopped by Hobby Lobby last time I went to the doc.........a woman in a H spot right up front. Car had disabled vet plates on it......but she was carrying something big inside to return it, which is probably why she was in there. She had no trouble walking. If she was the disabled vet, it didn't seem physical. Of course there were no other spots. I couldn't even finish looking for the one thing I was looking for, or I wouldn't have made it back to the car. Someone woulda had to pick me up off the floor if I had stayed any longer.

Dogs Welcome
All children must be on leash

And another small one that says Unattended children will be sold as slaves.

New update - daughter is doing very well! Started on liquid diet and so happy, hasn't eaten anything since Monday. Today she gets to have soft foods and see if she tolerates it. Most of the tubes are gone! She was watching TV and texting a bit. I slept so well last nite! Hugs to you all

So glad to hear that your daughter is doing so much better. Prayers continuing for fast healing.

Last Friday we discovered our guest bathroom toilet had been leaking/weeping on da floor. How did we notice (in that we hardly visit that side of our home)? Sopping carpet in da living room. At least it was 'clean' vs. 'brown' water...

Half of our living room and back bedroom carpets are wetter dan a hatching tadpole!

Long story short, got several 'cane blowers/dehumidifiers along wid da appropriate wind noise.

At least my insurance agent is one of my sons-in-law!!! Gotta look on da 'blessing' side... (kinda difficult in da midst of tropical winds) (Eh... wha... ya'll may have to type in bold fer a while...)

They still have leashes for kids, but too many people view it as a barbaric thing to use. Personally I've seen kids who definitely need to be on them and some parents who should be forced to learn how to use them.

I was not visibly disabled for many years. To most people I still am not. I didn't even use a cane until 2011. But I've not been able to walk very far for much longer than that, & a cane would not helped. I could walk fine, until my back zapped me & then I had to sit down & that was it. No matter where I was I had to sit down. Then I developed the wobble to the right, & had to start using the cane.

At Walmartn finding a scooter after 10:30 am is impossible. And that's if you can find a HC parking spot.
At Kroger good luck finding a scooter with a charge on it.

Do they even have them at Costco? I told Gin the other day pretty soon if I want to go shopping at some of these places I'll have to put new batteries in my Jazzy 600 and get a car that will take a bigger hitch receiver, then look out it does 10mph I think maybe it is 7 but it is just like new my insurance paid for it when I was still on the RR insurance. 6000 bucks worth. I used it when I was trying to learn to walk on my rubber legs. Used to go outside and up the street aways. From my understanding it has a pretty good range on it like a few miles. It's a great power chair with a bucket seat but my batteries finally got bad from just sitting and charging it every month. Takes 2 6v deep cycle batteries. Weighs a ton. Even has a little Meep Meep horn.

As far as I know, there are none left anywhere. They never got very popular. So, I've been snatching them on clearance. Until they were all gone.

I've mentioned them periodically over the last couple of years. No one seemed interested. Not exactly high powered like the new stuff out. Just plain, simple VV with a little 14500 IMR.

Looks like a Vamo.

But, a very miniatured one! It's 4 inches long and only 2mm wider than an eGo.

Yes, we've seen them too, actually sprinting into the store in a gentle rain. When we have the opportunity we will say something to those people. I did hear someone say once that they'd just take the husband's handicap sign when she went to the store and she really needed to park farther away because she could use the exercise!

I've got a T Shirt somewhere that has a Handicapped symbol on it the little guy in the wheelchair that says I'm just in it for the parking.
