That's my son with his son and my oldest daughter with her daughter (7 1/2 years ago).
Well, it's official. I have my round trip ticket to Boston! Of course, it's round trip between Boston and Dallas (not San Antonio). So, there's going to be a lot of driving.
The one consolation is that it's just one direct flight instead of 2 connecting flights.
I'm actually going outside Texas! And, I get to see my daughter and grand-daughter. It's been a long, long time.
The flight there starts at 7:40 am on October 20th from Dallas to Boston. The return flight starts at 11:45 am on October 22nd from Boston to Dallas. The wedding is on the 21st.Whoop! That's so great! When do you leave? When is the wedding?
Times have definitely changed. Patriotism is getting watered down. Even presidential patriotism.I bleed red, white and blue!!!
Also must add, regardless of our past national 'wrongs', name me one nation that has provided more freedom, aid, peace and stability world wide within contemporary history. Yes, we should have possibly done more/less and could have done better. BUT, NO ONE is gonna deprive me and mine of appreciating and celebrating our heritage, especially on my 67th Columbus Day!!!
I may be old, but I surely will won't go out sniffling, whimpering and apologizing for our/my history...
ETA: My Mom's favorite lady was the Statue of Liberty; will never forget their influences!
Not to be overly cynical, and I KNOW that you and I occupy different portions of the political spectrum, but in Florida you have not 1, not 2, not 3, but FOUR additional President/VP tickets who will be listed on your official election ballot. I haven't checked, but I severely doubt that anyone in the nation has a greater variety of choice than you do. So, I ask, what the heck are you complaining about?ETA: We have a population of 324,678,666 at da moment. And these are our options?!?!?!?!?
Shoot, T, that really doesn't leave much hangover recovery time! The flight there starts at 7:40 am on October 20th from Dallas to Boston. The return flight starts at 11:45 am on October 22nd from Boston to Dallas. The wedding is on the 21st.

Yup. We're going to have to drive all night Wednesday to catch the flight out. Then, on the way back we'll get to Dallas in time to sleep before making the drive back and getting the kids ready for school on Monday.Shoot, T, that really doesn't leave much hangover recovery time!
That was a beautiful duet!!OMG, ROTFLMFAO, just lost a full good mouthful of BLL...

It's a very short visit. But, I've got to grab the chance while I can!

Totally agree!Re Columbus Day, I've been monitoring this line of discourse most of a day. I just feel da need to jump in with both 9 1/2s...
My Mom and I arrived in New York harbor back in '49 on Columbus Day! Then Ellis Island the next day. She escaped from her home country, Latvia, during WWII when the Nazis were engaging the Russian army and the battle front was approaching her home town near Riga. She had to have had more than nine lives to survive the two major fronts that she had to cross (she had two bridges blown up behind her) to get to the American sector in Germany where she met my GI Dad. Regardless, she feared and despised both political systems. Latvia had been a republic for a few years prior to da war.
Oh, and yes, she went through the rigorous citizenship process. And was damned proud for doing so!!!
Hollywood could NEVER script a screenplay to even come close to her experiences and sacrifices!!!
Very long story short (maybe too late now), some may wonder why I'm such a USA 'flag waver'. I'm a product of an American Dream that came true for my Mom and Dad! If ya don't understand, and have no idea of the sacrifices that soooo many made to allow ya to feel 'secure', then just write me off as a ravin' insane patriotic kook! I bleed red, white and blue!!!

When I first heard the term 'the American religion', I thought they were talking about the Constitution. We were raised to believe whole-heartedly in the Constitiution. It's so sad to see how it's ignored nowadays. At least 90% of our laws are unconstitutional.
I hope you have a great time & the wedding is perfect!Yup. We're going to have to drive all night Wednesday to catch the flight out. Then, on the way back we'll get to Dallas in time to sleep before making the drive back and getting the kids ready for school on Monday.
