Yesterday was a wonderful day...my GD took me to a plant nursery where i got 4 bags of top soil,

two of potting soil, and seven flowering plants. My little garden space was just dirt and now it's beginning to look like a flower garden. Around the middle of June I'm gonna get more to finish filling it in. And now all three bird feeders are full, finally, they've been empty for weeks.
I'm happy:)
Pics after i upload them....

That looks lovely!! She did a good job!

"Sides...he was kinda good eye candy:eek: gray hair to the shoulder, cowboy hat n boots.... big body....

"scuse me for a minute, i need a glass of ice water.....

On a cooler note..today I kept catching myself walking a few steps sans walker! I didn't do it deliberately either!:rickroll::rickroll:

You know what, when we go shopping my wife usually parks in a handicapped spot. A lot of the time I stay in the car with the pooch cause it's a little too warm but I do go in and use the bathroom usually. But I just love watching people that have handicapped danglers. Either they are 400+lbs, or it will be someone who looks just fine with 3 kids I would guess 1 out of every 3 or 4 people that use those spots that you can tell they have a disability. Maybe they do and you just can't see it but many seem like people with a lot of money and their doc just helps them out. IDK my wife doesn't use them when there is no chance of me going in or she is by herself. There usually isn't any open ones anyway seems in this town 1/2 the population is handicapped. One place we go a bunch of old men go there, its a grocery store with a coffee shop, but they have their coffee clutches and use up all the HC spots whilst they go in and sit around and shoot the shoot. Between noon and 4PM no spots for us crips.
You know what is funny. My Hubby has been in a wheelchair all his life. FOr the first 15 years of the marriage we never even had handicap tags, we really didn't need them. LOL We just got them a couple of years ago because we took a trip to grand canyon and his doctor said it would make the trip easier at the park. It just pisses me off when I see people using them that do not need them. Not for us so much as for other folks who CAN'T manage as well as we do.

If he is not with me I never park in handicap. That is actually how the law is written here.

@Uncle Willie - Good tributes!!!
On a lighter note:
I'll likely be sparse the next few days. Off in the boonies for some fishing. But there's still a porch to hang out on.

Round the middle of June I'll fill it up! And I'm already planning a bird bath/ windchimes, bird feeders and more plants , and of course a lilac bush,in the middle of the yard so that it can be seen from my dining room window. ( saw this type of landscaping in a couple of other yards on my little walk the other day)

Lastly, I'd like to close out my trip down memory lane with one of the songs that I believe encapsulates my personal feelings toward the Here and Now, as well as The Past .. because, when I needed it most, there were those that are here now and those that are gone that truly, truly, gave me "Shelter From the Storm" .. salute and raise a glass to yourselves .. since Dylan's people are at it again on YouTube .. I'll need to substitute some Stones .. ;)

'Twas in another lifetime, one of toil and blood
When blackness was a virtue the road was full of mud
I came in from the wilderness, a creature void of form
Come in, she said
I'll give ya shelter from the storm

can't multi-quote them all, Willie, but you are a treasure

Does anyone have any contact info for umanbean? Email or phone? He hasn't posted anywhere since Feb 29th. Wanna make sure he didn't fall in a leap year hole. lol If you do, could you contact him and tell him we miss him and see if he's ok?

Meet Me in St Louie Louie
Uncle Willy, thank you for the wonderful stories! It is only better each time I read them.

Willie,

I ever so hope that those that have not shared in the joys, discoveries, revelations, inspirations and history/heartaches of our early porch family, can at least partially appreciate our devotion to this ever so special 'porch family'! We've come such a long ways through love and concern unmatched by any other means.

Thank you for being our historian and ultimate DJ which has only elevated our porches self-worth and influence!
BTW, still got a non-Mike bottle of JD that will not be 'cracked 'til we meet!

At the risk of sounding maudlin, which I know I tend to do especially if I am in my cups but at least I admit it .. If I had much of a Real Life family left, I'm certain there would be times when an old fashioned scrap book or photo album would get broken out, and some would relay a story about this and that .. which is likely the way I feel about the History here ..

While I also feel certain there are those that don't give much of a whit, it's always good to know some still care about the History .. I'll keep bringing forward the material and would hope when and if I drop out along the way, someone else will pick up the bits and bytes ..

On a side note, I have dutifully saved any and all pics that were posted about the Odyssey, and, in the next month or so, I will be doing some video slide show work .. in the event additional pics were to be made available and with the consent, of course, of all participants that were depicted, I would be happy to put a remembrance video together .. or, I can use what's been posted previously .. however, I won't do anything without the courtesy of asking all if it is OK ..
