Let me also add, although our Military men and women deserve all respect and acknowledgement so do their spouses and children who stay behind on the home front. It is a tough job keeping things together at home so our service members can do what they need to do and often an ignored one.

I would have stayed fer 30+ years in da military, but my family had had supported me and endured enough by the time our three daughters were approaching their high school years; ergo, only 20.

My Patty was beyond remarkable in coping with the home front while I was 'absent' (TDY/temporary duty) for at least three months a year (sometimes six) in my last 10 years or so.

Our nation/globe owes as much, if not more in some cases, to our GI families, than to us that love and believe(d) in 'our' missions! They were and still are the main reason the GIs bust their butts to get back to 'freedoms' home...

I will never apologize for my pride in/for our heritage, services, devotion and duty!

Getting set to watch the NASCAR All Star Race. One of the best races all year if you ask me. Not a points race but, a million dollars to the winner. They don't hold back on this one AT ALL!

It does. I am certain, if left up to my son, the dog will be put down.
Our Captain, a pug, was bitten in the face by a Jack Russell terrier as a pup. It happened at a dog park where dogs ran leash-less, but no one claimed the dog. Captain never had any issues and remained a waggy tailed little LUV BUG. I do think breed has something to do with it.

All is well, so far. Mama got a nap this morning for a couple of hours. She is healing from a broken foot, which she has had to stand on constantly for two days now holding her toddler, she's exhausted and her emotions are at the surface. She thanks you all for prayers and well wishes. Kira is, of course, very Mama clingy right now. Her face has several superficial scratches and one deep puncture wound they did not stitch, she has a large y-shaped sutured area to the right corner of her lip but the wound edges are well-approximated and the surgeon did a very good job. There is another sutured vertical line and it looks like baby pulled the stitch, but mama takes her to her doc Monday. A small piece of her right eyelid is missing, but the surgeon would not touch it. He says she needs to see an eye doctor for that. All-in-all, she is one lucky little girl.

We had a Happy Birthday dinner for mama at Applebee's after big sis's recital. Jalina was a beautiful ballerina and performed very well. Mama got a new mac book...which she was not expecting, and cried a lot. She's reliving her memories as she processes through what happened and how, but her heart is filled with gratitude. Peace.

Geez...a broken foot on top of this?! Tho i'm glad things are going pretty well for the lil darlin'...and you're surviving!

So very true! I know I was a wreck when my FL National Guard son was in Iraq for 14 months back in 2003/2004. Good thing I didn't know he was specially trained and doing house raids! His wife now supports all his days away training others and his own training. It's a hard life, and I have nothing but thanks for those who serve or have served. Sincere Thank You!

So much bad news lately. Here is an ordinary bad day to help things get back to normal.

So, today, I have spent all my free money, car broke down, and I ruined a very nice shirt. I’m sore and I’m tired, and I need to get money to pay the pool guy tomorrow before he gets here.
EDIT: AND... I bumped my head and have a small red gash at my receding hairline!

Saturday saga:
Today, I wanted to wash my pool deck. I’m getting my pool cleaned so I can start using it for the year. It got away from me and was literally floating with algae. So I’ve contracted out for it, and I’m going to get someone to come in and take care of the pool for me from now on so I don’t have to worry about it anymore.
Got to Home Depot today at about 9am, got my industrial bleach and stain remover, an extra backflow hose so the guy fixing my pool can finish up tomorrow, got to my car – unlocked the door with the remote… then the car wouldn’t start. It just clicked once and the power went out. Could not auto-lock the doors, or operate the power windows.
Waited 5 min, and turned the key – power – turn further to start – click-and-nothing.
Called the tow truck and got towed to the place I got the battery. $65, and now I have 26 dollars left. I really need to get more money out of the machine.
The shop found that one of the clamps was loose on the battery terminal. They didn’t charge me for labor because they are fantastic people, but they had to charge to recharge the battery. Cost $11.
$15 left now.
Got home at 11am, and was setting up my sprayer - bumped my head and got a gash. sprayed bleach/stain remover on half the deck and then was so sweaty, I only had just enough time to take a shower and get to the restaurant. Lunch was $15, so now I’m just completely out of money and REALLY have to get more tomorrow when I go to get my groceries for the week.
Started spraying the deck, and accidently sprayed my nice shirt… yanked it off and dumped it in the pool, then moved it to the bathtub and gave it a good soak in water… No good… I now have a spray-shaped white spot on my green shirt. Darnit.
Finished spraying the deck, went in and tried to take a short nap, but couldn’t sleep, so back outside and time to start using the power washer. I’ve got a new one, and it works great! Only took me 5 hours to finish up instead of 4 days! So I finished up at 8:30pm.
Sore and exhausted, I hosed off, came in and took a shower and just NOW have enough strength to make dinner and write this up.

We end the day, or begin the next....
With a bit of insomnia. Just woke up fully after only 3.5 hours sleep! I will be up for a couple of hours, then back to bed and getting up so I can do the shopping, get more money, put on the new backwash hose, and maybe relax for a bit.

Welcome to my world. Don't think I've had a full night of uninterrupted sleep in 4 or 5 years now.

Being a night owl does have its perks; no one hogging the bathroom or wanting something that requires work on my part, no waiting in line at Walmart at 3am, 'course you do run into some, shall we say, quirky individuals there in the wee hours.....
