I was 91.
My Mom sent me my draft notice she received while I was at Da Nang, RVN ('67). Dat was two years+ after I enlisted in da USAF!
She was quite upset due to the wording/warnings of da notice. My, she did age quite a bit during dat tour...

Jup, as rough as it was for me, I would always say, I'm not doing anything millions of other moms haven't done, and I was always so very thankful that we had much better communications through the internet now. I'd always think of WWII and Vietnam era mamas and family members that had to wait, weeks or months for word. She was quite upset due to the wording/warnings of da notice. My younger brother is one..both physically and mentally....still....but he fought the gov'mint for about 30-40 years..and finally got full V.A. disability...I'm not the only bulldog -temperament one in my family
..back to more music....
As I was lying on the couch watching the Yankees play the Blue Jays, I saw the sunset tonight was kinda purdy so I went outside and took a pitcha. It's been raining most of the day but started to clear this afternoon. Good basketball game coming up at 9 on TNT!

The government never ceases to amaze me. My best friend when I was stationed in Missouri told me some stories. We used to party like animals. He was in 1st Cav in Nam, while in Missouri got in a little trouble and got busted from E5 to E3. We went swimming one day and I noticed he had dark and light skin on his legs and I asked him about it, he looked like he had that disease MJ had, he said they spent 111 days out of base camp trompin through the swamp and got jungle rot, the had to give him skin grafts and he was Italian or something and the skin they put on was a really white one still worked though. Even though he got in a lot of trouble they would still use him on the funeral duties because in his dress greens he looked pretty sharp with 2 1/2 rows of ribbons and an airborn badge and combat infantrymans badge. He used to joke about it. I always wondered what happened to him. He was getting discharged the same time they had to give me a 30 day leave before I went to Germany and he drove back to Seattle with me and we had a great time. I went to visit him in Frisco once and he was working as sort of a guard. He stayed in a travel trailer at a travel trailer dealer. I don't know what happened to him after that. He took me to the Filmore West and out and about around there. This was in 70 and Haight Ashbury had been pretty well taken over by junkies. My Mom sent me my draft notice she received while I was at Da Nang, RVN ('67). lol I do feel for her.....but glad you're feeding the critters! The neighbor lady is going to put up an impenetrable fence around her garden she can't figure out where all the animals are coming from that eat her garden.
Pure poetry, Patrick.Well enough gruesome stories, you ought to see our aviary outside. The Ravens pick up the dry bread and put a bunch in the bird bath and then take a bunch home and the Magpies who have babies that are just a little smaller then the parents get up on the bath and steal some of his bread. If they don't get out of there fast enough the raven comes in like a fighter jet, the quail and the doves and finches go about their business picking up birdseed on the ground and the woodpeckers are busy getting ants in the cracks of the driveway and the squirrel comes in and gets his peanuts. The bunnies eat the dandelion stems till night then they get the carrots and the lettuce she puts out.

What a game, eh Dennis? The Warriors were outscored by the Thunder in the 1st, 2nd and 4th quarters but outscored the Thunder 29-12 in the 3rd quarter and won 96-88. Curry and Thompson both made ridiculous numbers of 3-pointers for the Warriors.
