dang......what the heck have they been doin to that new one??? Well at least busy helps the time pass. Hope you can get some rest and have some fun though. :)
I don't think there's a new helicopter. I think you read it wrong. I could be wrong.
Well, shucks, you two sorted it out before I could even answer. But, no, it's not a new helicopter. All the guts on the inside have been changed though. What did they do to it? The pilot over torqued it trying to avoid a crane on a platform.

PA - home of the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall - now has the most draconian vaping laws in the nation maybe the world.

This was just posted on ECF in the thread talking about the new PA law.

That's THE most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. That's just TOO over the top!!

CIGARETTE TAX
Cigarette tax is an excise tax on the sale or possession of cigarettes and little cigars in Pennsylvania. The tax rate is $1.60 per pack of 20 cigarettes ($0.08 per stick), or $16 per carton of 10 packs, and it is imposed on the ultimate consumer.

Cigarette stamping agents are responsible for remitting the tax to the commonwealth and apply tax stamps to cigarette packs and stampable little cigars to indicate payment of tax. All cigarettes and stampable little cigars legally sold in Pennsylvania are marked with a Pennsylvania cigarette tax stamp on the bottom of each pack.

In addition to the cigarette tax, consumers pay a 6 percent sales and use tax on the retail purchase price of cigarettes and little cigars, with an additional 1 percent local sales tax in Allegheny County and 2 percent local sales tax in Philadelphia County.

Cigarette tax revenue is currently dedicated to the following funds and General Fund:

  • $30.73 million annually to the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), which provides health insurance to uninsured children and teens; and
  • $20.49 million annually to the Agricultural Conservation Easement Purchase Fund, which helps preserve Pennsylvania farmland.
  • For detailed and historic cigarette tax information, please review the Tax Compendium.
Just don't even have words........

So where do you get citric acid? I'm game to try it. We have a lot of lime in our water. I've even flushed out the coffee maker with CLR and then run about 10 pots of water through it.
My water is low in deposits but I still get a white film. I don't know whether it's calcium, lime or something else. Regardless of the fact that citric acid requires no rinsing out, it removes the white film much better than vinegar. I don't really know the chemistry of it.

My coffee maker is a Behmor Brazen, which is a fantastic machine that, because of the way it works, is EXTREMELY finicky about deposits. Most people can't use the machine with their home water supply, no matter how often they clean the deposits, but because my water is so low in deposits, I'm able to use my tap water.

In order to keep my machine working, I use citric acid about once every 10 pots. If I had to run rinse cycles, I'd be fighting the tide.

thanks. Have been hesitant to put vinegar through my dil's keurig cuz of the rinsing.....but will have em get some of this.

There is a descaling solution sold for Kuerigs, but this CA would work as well & probably wouldn't have to rinse as much as vinegar. Just be sure to take the water filter out of the tank first. I just got mine in May. Been wanting one for years, but the last time I mentioned that it was time for a new pot Mom brought another dripper home & I was kinda stuck with it. We use seperate pots because she uses decaf. The Kuerig was supposed to resolve the need for 2 pots, but she went out & bought another drip for herself rather than learn to use the Kuerig. I give up.
I use filtered tap water. Our water tastes terrible, & is undrinkable without filtering. I won't even cook with it.

I had a job where the Kuerig was offered in 2 office kitchens,, and reg coffee pots. for years I didn't want to be the office coffee hog (I was drinking about 6 pots down from 8 at the time). so I was drinking 2 k-cups a day. for Christmas my son bought us a Kuerig (sp),, the big one with the pot........its ok,, but I wouldn't buy that model. the pot is not insulated.. its more for when you have guests and want to make coffee for everyone at once. when this one dies, I don't know if I will bother buying a new one,, likely go back to a normal (auto) coffee pot.

I have 2.0 with the pot. I've not used the pot, tho. I agree that the pot is for when you need to serve more than one person at a time. I just drink 2 or 3 cups in the mornings using the My Kcup thing & that's it. I like using that even tho they have my coffee in the pods. It lets me adjust the strength of the coffee better. Strong is good.

I like to adjust my strength too, I don't buy kcups,,I buy coffee I like,, throw it through the blender then dose as desired.

What was the comedy/horror movie R. Lee was in? I think Michael J Fox was in it too? That was hilarious. Not that great a movie but funny......

I'm with you on Scarface. One of my all time favs too! Pretty much anything Pachino is in........
Okay, got it. It was Frighteners - 1996 and it was MAIL Call not Roll Call. Oops.........o_O

I don't think that I ever watched Frighteners... may have to look that one up. I have watched quite a few episodes of Mail Call, though. And a few other specials that he's been in on the History channel and the Military History channel.

So sorry, I forgot about that. to you both

No worries, Deb. :) We're both just doing the best that we can in the situation. We took another look at her blood work report last night, and it appears that her "Cancer Marker" number is actually going down right now. :) That's a good sign that the new chemo is potentially doing some good. We won't know for sure until she goes back in for CT/MRI scans, but there's no reason that we can't have a little hope, right? you too, Hon!

I do love a good homemade lemonade.......but cherry limeade is my fav!!

Yep, but I'd still take a good homemade lemonade over a cherry limeade. ;)

OMGoodness, so much to read to catch up with you guys.

We've been busy bees around here lately and haven't been keeping up as I should.....

Anyway, I am, like all of you, saddened, angry and my eyes filled with tears this morning when I saw the spreadsheet with the shops closing. Mourning!

Not sure I can put the link in without showing the entire spread sheet, but here goes:

Vape shops closing .....a tribute to our Vendors
Thanks, Mike

I am embarrassed, ashamed and so so so very disappointed in my home state of PA!! Except for two of our children, all of our family is there. Two of my nieces are vapors, and I don't know how they are going to cope since I won't be able to supply them anymore through the mail, and of course, they won't purchase with a 40% tax.

So, no flower picture this morning, because I don't feel cheerful. Those ba******took my 'happy' away.
But, I WILL get it back, just not today!

I won a single cup Keurig which was my first introduction to it. I make a drip pot of decaf in the morning for me and Mike makes 2 cups of high test with the Keurig. The think I like about the single cup maker is that you get out of it as much water as you put into it so you can adjust the strength. I like a decent size mug of coffee. I found I like the Green Mountain Dark Magic. It's also a convenience factor for me to use it in the afternoon when I can make 1 mug of my decaf and not have to mess with the drip coffee maker.

On our Odyssey trip I was the only one who had to drink decaf so my daughter told me about Cold Brewed Coffee. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. That's what I'm using now at my daughters since she only has 1 drip coffee maker that we use for reg coffee. It's working out great. There's lots of info on the net about cold brewed coffee.
