I know many of you here see me as opinionated, obstinate, snide at times (no way .. ;)), sarcastic, etc .. and, I suppose I might have to plead guilty .. ;)

I'll also plead guilty to the same characteristics!

I also know some don't care much for me, and I can understand that, although I don't think I've ever gone out of my way to intentionally tee someone off (well, OK, there was that time in 2013.. ;)) ...

Willie, I just have to ask why you have been the only porcher to make such a proclamation, within my weak memory, on the porches? Apparently it means more to you than to us... You are cherished here!

BTW, is there a tat for 'fame'?

As to sharing my 9/11 experiences, noper. I'll spend the next three days reliving that event recorded on my DVR to rekindle my rage at the historic change in our and our progeny lifetimes; and let that rage smoulder for another year!

As for 9/11 forgiveness, ain't my phrickin' job in this case, mon...

I was already at my desk at work when my co-worker next to me got a call from her husband saying a plane flew into the 1st tower. We all thought what a horrible accident. Then he called to say the 2nd tower was hit and I looked at the people in the office and said that was no accident, we're under attack. I went across the hall to the meeting room and turned on the TV which was set up for classes and tried to get any news channel. The only way to keep it in tune was to hold my hand on the TV while at the same time holding the plug, then someone came in and got it working. I immediately texted both our kids who were in college and told them to turn the TV or radio on NOW and then called Mike at work. We were all stunned and one woman in our office was crying. Somehow we continued trying to get some work done and many of us went to church at lunchtime. We found out later that a woman on another floor lost her son in one of the towers. The day was a blur and most of us left early to get home to our families.

I was at my away from home terminal at the motel. We had just got in about 3 hours earlier sound asleep. The phone rang and I was thinkin damn railroad screwed up and is calling me to work distubing my rest, thinking I'm going to tell them they disturbed my rest and I want my 8 hours to start over. It was Ginny and she said turn the TV on so I grabbed the remote and did and couldn't believe my eyes. We talked for a while watching in disbelief. We hung up and I called my conductor and he was already awake his wife had called him. I couldn't get back to sleep watching what was happening. I finally did after the towers came down for about 2 more hours and the railroad called, business as usual back to work. Caught a good train home and it was waiting on the mainline for us and they picked that day for a random drug test. After that we talked a little on the way home but we just kind of sat there not believing what had happened. Strange trip home. It was weird because the next 10 hrs we had no idea what was going on if we were at war or what. Seems like the trains go places where there are not a lot of cell towers. When we finally got to a place where we had reception we found out little bits and pieces. We weren't allowed to use the cell when we were moving.

I was at work. Sr. GM with 4 gas/convenience stores, 2 who shared the building and lot with a McD's to look after. Night shift guy came back in with his small TV, said you need to see this and turned on the news. That was just after the first tower was hit.

Called my 3 MIT's to give instructions on how to deal with the madness that was about to descend. Passed on the message from the DM that no price changes would take place until we got the next fuel delivery in. Don't call the terminal because they would not be delivering until they were given the all clear. (Remember the lines at the gas stations and the idiots fighting?)

Went to the storage shed grabbed every orange cone I could find, and set up to maintain an orderly flow of traffic at the pumps and still leave a lane open for McD's drive thru. Myself and two employee spent the next 17 hours taking turns, out on the lot or inside where we could see the news, till the tanks were dry keeping people from line jumping and fighting over pumps.

@2legsshrt, I didn't download the most recent August 2016 Escribe software to my DNA200 because it's still listed as being in the "early" stage rather than the "recommended" stage. I like to leave the experimenting and troubleshooting to others.

I did, though, install the latest recommended version, which was from earlier this year. It had been a long time since I'd connected to my Escribe software. Thanks for the reminder! I had thought that my DNA200 was on the arm of my couch, but it was sitting in a tray of vape gear without batteries in it. The 3 Reuleaux mods that I had "in circulation" were all RX200 versions.

On Sept 11 2001 I was at work, casing the mail for my route, when another carrier who was listening to a radio told us about the reports coming in. The prohibition against non-earphone radios was lifted, and somebody turned on a boom box. We cased our mail in stunned disbelief. I worried about my little brother, who worked in downtown Manhattan, and my Dad, whose company often did jobs in NYC. Flight 93 went down not far from where my sister lives in PA. Of course it was impossible to get through to anybody for a while, due to cell phone overload with calls to the NYC area.

I carried my route in a daze, picking up tidbits of info from customers along the way. Postal vehicles do not have radios (or air conditioning), for those who may not know.

T ... One of my tattoos is of the most Common of the Buddhist mantras .. in fact, it was the first Tattoo I ever got, many years ago even before Tattoos became more mainstream .. later, I had it embellished with additional symbology ..

om-mani-padme-hum-tattoos.gif

Om: generosity (purifies pride/bliss)
Ma: ethics (purifies jealousy/lust for entertainment)
Ni: patience (purifies passion/desire)
Pad:diligence (purifies ignorance/prejudice)
Me: renunciation (purifies poverty/possessiveness)
Hum: wisdom (purifies aggression/hatred)

The beauty of this Mantra is it can be interpreted various ways, and I always chose to believe, for me anyway, that it reminds me every day that "All I Need I Already Have" .. Life .. because as long as there is Life, the rest can be obtained, somehow .. it also goes hand in hand with my Belief that Avoidance of the Seven Deadly Sins is Important .. We are All Imperfect, yet we should strive for a Code of sorts, regardless of a belief or set of beliefs that is accepted by the members of a group without being questioned or doubted ..

If you have not yet done so, I wish you well in your Journey to your First Tattoo .. although I do not know if it is, in fact, the first ..

A Tattoo that contains a deep meaning and reminds you of something everyday, can be a transformational and very much a "freeing" experience .. it's difficult to describe, but I think you will know it when you get it .. I know you will Choose Wisely .. :)
That's beautiful, Willie.

It turned out that my baby brother had not yet gone to work in Manhattan when the planes hit the towers, but he could see the smoke and damage from where he was staying in Brooklyn. Like everybody else, he was shaken.

Dad had flown his Cessna 182 to MD or SC a day or two before, with mom on board, and they were stuck there when all air traffic was grounded. If I recall correctly, he needed to get back to NJ for work-related reasons so he rented a car, and drove back later to get his plane after the flight restrictions were lifted.

A car full of Irish nuns is sitting at a traffic light in downtown Dublin, when a bunch of rowdy drunks pull up alongside of them.

"Hey, show us yer boobs, ya bloody penguins!" shouts one of the drunks.
Quite shocked, Mother Superior turns to Sister Mary Immaculata and says, "I don't think they know who we are; show them your cross."

Sister Mary Immaculata rolls down her window and shouts, "Piss off, ya fookin' little w*nkers, before I come over there and rip yer balls off!"

Sister Mary Immaculata then rolls up her window, looks back at Mother Superior, quite innocently, and asks, "Did that sound cross enough?

I was in the kitchen, turned the radio on. They were talking about some kind of crisis going on at the airport in Garden City. I remembered when flight 232 went down in Sioux City, and thought "OH, no, not again." I turned on the TV, and was stunned. It was even worse.

Later, I was waiting in line at the gas station. There was a Muslim couple behind me. If it could be so, they looked worse. Downright scared.

On another note, 9/11 does hold a positive note for me, it is the date that I decided to stop smoking, tomorrow will be my third anniversary of being cigarette free.

Congrats Kim ... isn't it grand when these vapeversaries come around.

It's like remembering where 'you were' when Kennedy was assassinated. A moment in time you'll never forget. I walked into the company cafeteria to get a cup of coffee. Looked over to the TV mounted on the wall and saw an airplane crashed into the 1st tower. While in shock and disbelieve I just stood there watch. Then the 2nd plane hit the tower. When I came back to my senses a bit I went back to my office area and told folks ... you got to stop working and come watch what's going on in NYC ... it was a numb rest of the day, not getting much work done and just hanging in the cafeteria with a lot of others watching the events unfold.

That day started like any other, spent the morning getting my daughter off to school. It was her senior year, she was on the yearbook staff and they had planned a trip to NYC for the following spring. The teacher/chaperone had come up with a system for the kids to pay for the trip in installments and as it turned out the first installment was due on the 11th. Sent my daughter off to school with a check, she was so excited that she was going to get to go. Turned on the TV later on that morning and when they broke in with the news that the first plane had struck the North Tower I was horrified. I just couldn't believe that it was happening. That night the teacher in charge of the yearbook staff called and wanted to talk about the upcoming trip to NYC. She said that about half the parents so far had pulled their kids from the trip and wanted to know what I would like to do. I asked her opinion and she said that she thought the trip plans should go forward, her reasoning was that it was a part of history that the kids should witness and never forget, and that it was important to send the message to the kids that being afraid to live your life because of terrorism, was, in a way, helping terrorists accomplish their goals. After talking to hubby and my daughter about it, we decided to let her go.

On another note, 9/11 does hold a positive note for me, it is the date that I decided to stop smoking, tomorrow will be my third anniversary of being cigarette free. :)
Happy Vaperversary, Kim!
