Well some good news I think. They got the results of the CT back and my little nodules are not growing so they want to sent me to a lung specialist about my COPD and he can tell me I should've started vaping long before but that wasn't possible. They also notice a thickening in my esophagus so they want me to have a special Xray. See @classwife and I only vape 10-15mls a day.

Well I finally got my labs back from the VA and faxed them to my cardiologist. He wants to see me so I go in the 30th. I already know what he wants to talk to me about. He thinks I have Aquired Hemolytic Anemia caused from the leaks in my Aortic valve. He told me last week that depending on how this Haptoglobin test came out that I might need another valve replacement. I'm just about sure that is what he wants to talk to me about. IDK if I'm ready for that again. It seems that my Aortic Valve that they replaced and has Paravalvular leaks because of the calcification that couldn't be removed are causing my RBC to be sheared and destroyed faster then my bone marrow can produce them. So I'll have to wait and talk to him. I am not even sure if I am a candidate for rereplacement or whether I want to do it. IDK if there are any doctors here that would even consider it but I'll have to wait till I talk to him. I'm pretty sure he'll want to do a procedure called a TEE which will give him a lot better idea of the leak. That stand for Trans Esophageal Echocardiogram where they go through your throat and get better pictures of your heart without the lungs interfering with it. Well I'll just have to wait and see what he has to say but I figure it is not going to be good. I just faxed the Labs in this AM and they got right back to me to set me up with an appt. Oh well will hope for the best.

Best wishes Pat ... and prayers.

Naw, primarily we use Korean airlines - Straight from Atlanta Ga. to Seoul Korea to Cebu Philippines... About a 25 hr flight then another 20+ hours to get to the backwoods area we visit...
Damn they would have to put me in a coma for that. I can barely take 2-3hrs. Either a coma or a stupor.

Holy cow! That's a haul and a half! My buddy that lives in Guam says just the Guam, Japan, Anchorage trip is a mind bender. I can't imagine your trip. Even Anchorage to Switzerland was "only" 13 hrs. total w/Frankfurt as a plane switch.

If you include the ride to the airport and the final stroll to the house it is about a 50+ hr trip in all... But well worth it...

No wonder you stay 3 months. You need that much time of peace and quiet to recover from the trip over. ;)

Glad to hear the nodules aren't growing, Our best on the esophagus tests.
Stupors are fun!

Ya, my buddy is married to a lovely Phillipino girl and they've actually bought a large chunk of property somewhere near where her parents live. He says it's for their retirement and that he'll probably never return to Alaska to live. I/we have never seen that part of the world and would love to sometime. Of course it doesn't help that my lovely bride is scared to death of flying.

The only real problems that I have on the trip is the lack of a good English conversation. I have no problem living without the luxuries of life, but sometimes a good chat over a cup of coffee makes the whole day better...

There are many that do it, but many soon find out it is not what they thought it would be - partially due to what I said in the post above...

Ya, that's not a "Just stopped by to say hello" trip is it??? Heck, it's 8 hours just to do Anchorage to L.A. and that's not worth it for less than two weeks!

Yea, my first time to visit there was only for a 3 week visit - I was just getting adjusted when it was time to leave already...

That absolutely makes sense. He's learned the language though and with the added "Family Ties" there I would think it would help but I still think it would be hard. Then again his mother is a French war bride and he (and I) grew up with more than one language to figure out. I'm still nowhere near "fluent" in French (let alone English, ha, ha!) but he's a pretty "cosmopolitan" guy.

We would have to go off line for me to delve more into why retiring there is different from what even the ones that feel prepared might end up truly experiencing...
