Maybe going against the grain here, however, Porchers come and Porchers go .. it's always been an ebb and flow over the years .. some come back, some don't, much like life .. people I know in Real Life don't express concern when they don't see me for a while, or hear from me .. (of course, that could just be me .. ;))

I don't understand why it's a concern at all, really .. do we see or talk to everyone we know .. ?? Do we wonder about them if we have not heard something in a few days or a few weeks .. ??

A week, two weeks, etc, it's not uncommon .. disappearance permanently is not uncommon .. hundreds of folks have come thru the BP over the years .. I just don't think there is cause to think the worst, or that someone not being around for a while is odd .. it's Life ..

True... but that doesn't mean that we can't hope that they are doing well and miss them when they aren't here. :)

As one who has traveled into Mexico and made it a point to sample "real" Mexican cuisine, it's an acquired taste, IMO .. I'll take a good old USA Taco Truck any day .. and I don't like Menudo, the dish or the Band .. o_O
No Menudo! I used to go to this place in Wenatchee which is the Apple Capital of the World so a lot of Mexican people there and they had great food and Menudo only on Sunday mornings. The Mexican swear by it for a hangover.

For the most part, I find it helpful to not ask too many questions when sampling cuisine from another culture. It doesn't bother me much, but many people get squeamish about eating some things. There were many dishes that I consumed overseas that were absolutely delicious, but I couldn't tell you what was in them, because I often didn't ask. ;) Good food is good... knowing exactly what was in it isn't necessary to me.

I don't mind Menudo, if it is prepared properly... I like the spices they use, and the flavor of the soup. What I'm not a fan of is lengua... I had lengua tacos a coupla weeks ago, and I just didn't care for the texture. I expected it to be a little firm and 'chewier'... it was much to soft for my liking. Had to try it, though... I love to experiment with new foods!

While I don't disagree, I am no Anthony Bourdain .. I, as well, have had my share of "exotic" foods .. both in Country and with friends that have invited me over .. and while I do try and politely say how good something might be, and in their Culture, it may be wonderful .. it's just not always for me .. (see my previous dissertation on Chips .. :) ) .. I don't get squeamish, I just covertly spit it into a napkin .. :) .. and, in many cases, I really don't want to know what's in it .. o_O

I suppose if one wants to publicly display rather than simply think or mentally wonder, you would be right ..

Ha! I'm certainly no Anthony Bourdain, myself! There have been many things that I've tried that I would never knowingly consume again. (See previous statement concerning lengua.) I do, however, often find myself missing some of the things that I've eaten in the past and have yet to find anything equivalent in any of my local regions. A delicious rabbit stew from an old French country restaurant comes to mind. I've had many rabbit stews in my life, but something about that one was special and will likely never be duplicated. *sigh*

Also true... I suppose that I choose to mention it publicly because many of our fellow porchers communicate outside of the porches. So, if one were hoping that another were doing well, another porcher could choose to allay any fears that said porcher may have. For instance, Von vape hasn't been around in a little while, but I heard from him on Monday, and he and his wife are both doing well. :)

I do know of the Miraculous Hang Over Medicinal Legendary Quality .. at the same time, I'm not going to go out of my way to stock tripe either in frozen / fresh or canned form {{shudder}} .. Hair of the Dog generally works out OK .. ;) .. or a couple aspirin .. ;) .. for me anyway ..

Agreed. I guess I'm just in a rambly mood today... honestly, my thoughts are all over the map right now.

Andrew Zimmern is worse.

I honestly don't know how Zimm does it .. I think once a scene is complete, he turns away and uses a barf bag .. or has a stomach pump handy at all times .. "What did you say that was .. ??" "It's a Terd" .. "Wow, that has to be the tastiest one I've ever had .." (Well, just how many, exactly, have you had .. ??) .. o_O

Sometimes I wish I was a dog if a dog had this many problems they would just put him down.

Not our dog (or cats for that matter). We joked that we had million dollar pets. Just kept them going until they let us know they were done. You're still way too feisty and contributing way too much for us to let you go!!!
