When I had the hip replacement and then the ensuing complication of the cracked pelvic bone I was pretty down...so many people here lifted my spirits simply by acknowledging that I was hurting and despondent and giving me encouragement and what i like to think of as affection if not downright love. I believe that almost no one wants to feel all alone in their misery whether it's physical, mental, or emotional...'course there are exceptions, as in every "rule"..and that's just fine, too.

We're all flawed human beings in some way or another.....

wait...I'm not! Guess i'm an exception.....

:D
Got to say that was downright beautiful, Kay.

I'm gonna use the DirecTv 72 hour rewind feature to watch last night's Designated Survivor.

I honestly don't know how Zimm does it .. I think once a scene is complete, he turns away and uses a barf bag .. or has a stomach pump handy at all times .. "What did you say that was .. ??" "It's a Terd" .. "Wow, that has to be the tastiest one I've ever had .." (Well, just how many, exactly, have you had .. ??) .. o_O
Don't hate on the zim, I'd probably eat some of that stuff too, heck, I've already eaten some of us, it ain't the strength of your stomach, it's the strength of your will, and how hungry you really are.

I had it on Good Authority mine was .. of course, if we delve into the History of Alcohol, we find that it was not just a way to make water less prone to bacteria and what not, it was also to help cleanse some foods of harmful nastiness after ingestion (DISCLAIMER :: I did not look that up, I had a section of my Brain, what little is left, that made me believe I had read that once ..)

Substitute Cat Meat, Dog Meat, Rat Meat, etc .. (no offense meant or intended to Animal Lovers Everywhere ..)
I've had cat, dog tamales are good, possum, raccoon, squirrel, several different lizzards and snakes, skunk...

Cow and pig brains, pancreas, uterus, testicles, kindeys, lungs, heart, intestines, ...

Bugs, worms, many wild plants, fish of all makes and models, sea cucumbers, snails, all manner of mollusks and whateverapods, ...

Ain't gonna say I enjoyed all of them, but I ain't never going hungry.

72 hour rewind with DirecTv is cool. This was the first time I used it, to watch the pilot episode of Designated Survivor, which aired 30 hours ago.

I was happy to find that I could still fast forward through the commercial breaks. With some On Demand stuff, you can't do that.

Based on the pilot, I think this is going to be an enjoyable series.

Must be Debs Spreadsheet!
roflmao!

I would love a power chair. Scooters are hard on my back. insurance doesn't cover them anymore. At all.
Jup.....don't hurt as bad after using them as I would if I'd walked, but still hurt a lot!

Well, you pretty much just described my dad, before he broke his back. He'd park his Caddy in a handicapped spot at Costco, but he could still walk quite well. His handicapped placard was because of his eyes.
I was gonna ask the same as Janet did til you cleared up it may have been his heart.

We had 2.7 inches of rain yesterday. I unplugged everything when I went to bed (fourth time) because of another thunderboomer.
Yipes. Hope y'all don't end up with a big flooding problem

Well, Mama was released from the hospital last night and is staying with my sister for a couple of days. They did the angiogram thing through her arm instead of through the groin, so she can't lift anything for a little while. I'm just extremely grateful that they found nothing wrong with her and that the docs said she should be around for a good long while! :):):):):)
fantastic news!!!! :) :) :)

Sometimes I wish I was a dog if a dog had this many problems they would just put him down.
don't even joke about that mister!!

Of course no food you eat in the good old USA is genuine Mexican
yeah like Kaezz said........we have a lotta places here that are very authentic. Usually a hole in the wall place.

I don't mind Menudo, if it is prepared properly... I like the spices they use, and the flavor of the soup. What I'm not a fan of is lengua...
Same here on the menudo, but I don't eat the tripe. Love the rest of it though. I do like tongue. Don't like how it smells when it's cookin though. First had it when one of my stepmothers would make it sometimes when I was about 5 or 6

I worry too much as it is probably why they have me on Tranqs.
Jup ya do darlin!

Never saw em fried. I think they just call dem pre-chewed beans "fried" to confuse us.
Newp, they should be cooked, smashed, let to get cold, and firm up a bit. Then fried in a cast iron skillet with lard. Keep mashin the beans into the skillet, and mixin em around, til they all get a lil sear on em. If you've ever had some at a restaurant that tasted better than any one else's, they likely did that or something similar. most places just don't do it though.

Don't even try to feed me something without me knowing what it is...
If it's on my gross list I don't want to try it no matter how good you say it is.
If you slip something by me and tell me 2 weeks later I ate such and such...I will still toss it back up.
JUP!! And gonna toss it on the one that fed it to me!

Well I do peanut butter with jalapeno jelly -so why not...
Jup!

I brought some to the Odyssey - nobody hardly touched it...
Had no idea it was there.......cuz I sure woulda been into it!

JUP!! Sometimes ya just need to know folks care!

Well, went to the md today, got some new happy pills and some celebrex, so maybe that will help.

Yay! Hope it does help!

Happy Birthday Matt!!! Next year, you'll be celebrating like this

Iffy.........couldn't tell exactly whether you were satisfied bout what the ins co was doing or not, but hope so. And glad they're taking care of a lot of it. If more needs to be done, hope they do that too

Never had to, but I know I would if I had to. However, the Zim doesn't have to. I think he (and his Dad) just like to irritate their more orthodox co-religionists.

Hope so. Things just gotta turn around for you.

The picture I showed you of the "creek" at the park? I looked at it yesterday, and it was much worse than the picture. Like the park was 1/4 under water. More expected on Saturday and Sunday. And this is what is on the schedule for the weekend: cranfest :grr:

What?! it's daytime already?!

But but but I haven't been to bed yet!

Dang rowdy buncha folks last night in the H/O kept me up later than my regular time.

No, not really, for some reason the toes on my right foot decided to cramp up off n on all night..I finally gave in ,let them win around 4:00a.m. after pacing thru the house a few times, and just stayed up.

(Every time I was preggers that would happen on a regular basis, but it was either one or the other of the calf muscles..they took turns seeing which one would torment me the most.)..so I got out my vitamins and took a handful..

kiddin", I only took one of each and will continue as this has been happening for a couple of weeks now.

but now I'm going back to bed!:)

Talk to your physical therapist about exercises to strengthen the opposing muscles. That worked for me!

There's a taco terlet down the street from the house in Deerfield that has great shrimps tacos. Eat there on a regular basis.

I still need to try some decent shrimp tacos... I finally tried some cod tacos in a local joint the other day, and they were surprisingly good! I didn't expect to like that as much as I did...

Staggers out of the bar overseas and purchases some "meat" on a stick. Anything cooked over charcoal is great when you are inebriated. Common term was monkey meat and it very well could have been. ;)

For me, it was most likely camel meat, most of the time...

Dang, I'm halfway through my jar of candied jalapenos already. Maybe I can find something else to give to the people who I was going to give the other 3 jars.

HAHAHAHA! I tried to warn you! Those things are addictive... and they go very well with many different foods.

Hmmm.... I just thought of something that sounds to my brain like it would be good.... will try it later this evening.... pictures by 11.

Peanut butter and candied jalapeno sandwich.

Not bad... it's kinda like a peanut butter and jalapeno jelly sandwich with a bit of crunch! :D

Ohhhh ! I love jalepeno jelly !!

Me too! My Bride actually made some a couple of years ago... if you haven't tried it on cornbread, I highly recommend it! That's my favorite way to eat jalapeno jelly... I'll actually bake a pan of cornbread just so that I have an excuse to eat half a jar of jelly!:lol::lol:

I must confess I have never had it .. Smuckers Strawberry Preserves are my Peanut Butter go to .. but I'm willing to try it if three people here will give it a brief culinary review, and describe the taste .. :)

Depending on who makes it, and how hot the peppers were to begin with, it can vary quite a bit. Usually, though, it is sweet up front (as jelly should be) with a bit of heat in the back of the mouth. It accents quite a few foods rather well, particularly lamb, IMHO. I prefer it to mint jelly. With breakfast, it pairs equally well with biscuits or cornbread (though cornbread would be my preference). My favorite versions of jalapeno jelly often contain serrano or habanero peppers added for an extra bit of spice, but that is just personal preference.

Just back after a peanut butter and jalaepeno-raspberry jam sandwich. Decision:

THERE WILL BE MANY REPEATS OF THE EXPERIMENT.

That sounds absolutely delicious!!! I need to go get some raspberry jam now!! :D

Thanks, Kazz! And great news on the Mom! Whoop!

You're welcome, and Thank You!! :D:D:D

Did you do King Ranch Chicken?

Never had King Ranch Chicken... what is that?

We warm them straight on the stove burner. Direct flamen or coil.

Hmmmmm.... I have a gas stove, so I may need to try that! I usually cook the meat on a cast iron griddle, so I just toss the tortillas on after the meat is done...

Right there with ya, Russ... anything that walks, crawls, swims, or flies... and pretty much any part of it. ;) My Bride laughs and says she ain't worried about whether or not I'd survive the 'zombie apocolypse', cause I'd eat anything! LOL

Definitely hope that some of it will help! You've got more stress than I do, and there are many days that I wish I could just throw in the towel, myself. Somehow, though, we just keep on goin'...
