I'm just one of 675000 NC customers without power. It would be nice to get power back today but from previous experience I know it could be several days.

It's still windy enough that my quad copter was blown off course and could barely fly against the wind once I got more than 100 feet up..Got video but can't post it until I have power. My path is beat up pretty good by the amounts of water that flowed down and my yard is like a swamp.

lol,, too funny,, my possum relocation skills might work

dinner with friends and family is a good thing for the soul

yes,,, simple but we loved it

Colorado is such a pretty state,, I went skiing there once as a teenager.. nice family!

i dont have much, but i PIF when i can,, I can offer you some rayon,, some flavors and maybe some wire if you want..........love the rainforest idea!

sounds great,,,isnt that the old Joes crabshack? i havent made it past Saltgrass for eating out in Kemah. (Tookies finally opened their seafood place,, I haven't tried it yet.. heard all good things though)
dont get me started about lazy dishwashers!
Yes, it's the old Joe's, & really good. I've been going to Kemah & Tookies, Joe Lee's & Pier 8 since the 70's. long before there was a boardwalk. Joe ) ee's used to be in the spot between Landry's & Bubba's. All the restraunt's were hanging over the water & you coul look down & see the mullet & ducks swarming under you. They always brought lots of crackers with your meal so you could crumble them up & drop them in the water. The mullet would pile up & lift the ducks right out of the water in the mad scramble for crackers! I haven't been to Tookies in maybe 30 years. The call of seafood is strong in this one.

We almost never use the dishwasher to wash dishes. Only when we have a huge amount to wash. Normally we just use it as a drying rack to keep the dishes off the counter while they're drying. I just don't trust dishwashers.

Finally! Welcome home, Matt!
Dishwashers use water hotter than your hands can stand, so I feel safer with dishes that have been through the dishwasher.[/QUOTE]
Yep.

Thing about dishwasherz... U need more (extra) dishes! When you clean off the table they go in the dishwasher. But you may only need to run it once or twice a week. Which makes it a lot cheaper to wash dishes. Less hot water, less energy used up. Not to mention less time standing over a sink. Once you clean off the table... yer done.
AND it is humanly impossible to hand wash dishes as well as a DW. Simply because once the DW cycle is done, everything in it has bin sterilized.
Yep. Especially with heat drying.

vape it is very cstastrophic. There are several hundred thousand without power, lots of homes and roads destroyed. Look above at someone posted a link for Flagler beach. It's pretty typical of the whole coast.

Edit: oops the link wasnt here it was in another thread. But here it is

Be careful trying to get in & out. Don't get stuck.

I'm 343 messages behind but,we are finally in Florida. We can't go to my brother's place in Daytona yet and the closest campground we could find is in Kissimmee near Disney. Nice place though. Kind of pricey. So nice that we are going to stay a cpuple of days just to relax then head over to Daytona for a few days before heading to Deerfield Beach. My Brother in Law checked on the house and says everything is fine. Lost power for a couple of hours is all. Well it's definately bedtime so I'll check in later. Thank you Gracie for letting everyone know we were ok. Later folks. Zzzzzzzzzzz:sleep:

SOOO glad you are finally in Fl!Stay put for awhile!!!:D

@Kenna at the veterinary clinic where I worked before I retired we gave this poem to clients who had to euthanize a pet. I'm sure you've heard of the Rainbow Bridge but this one is specifically for euthanized pets. I'm sure it will make you cry - I always do every time I read it - but I hope it will also give you some solace.

If it should be that I grow weak
Then you must do what must be done
for this last battle can't be won.

You will be sad, I understand
but don't let grief then stay your hand.
For this day more than all the rest
your love for me must stand the test.

We've had so many happy years
what is to come can hold no fears.
You don't want me to suffer so
the time has come, please let me go.

Take me where my needs they'll tend
but please stay with me 'til the end.
To hold me close and speak to me
until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will see
it was a kindness done for me.
Although my tail its last has waved
from pain and suffering I’ve been saved.

Please do not grieve that it was you
who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years
don’t let your heart hold back its tears.

We were lucky. No damage other than some limbs and no power since Friday. My area was not in the direct path of the hurricane and we are about 40 miles inland so that helped.

But it's really weird how it affected some and not others. No more than 10 minutes north of me is my favourite little nursery. I stopped by this morning to see if they needed any help straightening the plants up that had fallen over. Turned out that was the least of their problem. The metal supports for their greenhouse got all pushed over so it now lsits crooked and the sprinkler system broke into bits.
