I'm just one of 675000 NC customers without power. It would be nice to get power back today but from previous experience I know it could be several days.

It's still windy enough that my quad copter was blown off course and could barely fly against the wind once I got more than 100 feet up..Got video but can't post it until I have power. My path is beat up pretty good by the amounts of water that flowed down and my yard is like a swamp.

@Kenna at the veterinary clinic where I worked before I retired we gave this poem to clients who had to euthanize a pet. I'm sure you've heard of the Rainbow Bridge but this one is specifically for euthanized pets. I'm sure it will make you cry - I always do every time I read it - but I hope it will also give you some solace.

If it should be that I grow weak
Then you must do what must be done
for this last battle can't be won.

You will be sad, I understand
but don't let grief then stay your hand.
For this day more than all the rest
your love for me must stand the test.

We've had so many happy years
what is to come can hold no fears.
You don't want me to suffer so
the time has come, please let me go.

Take me where my needs they'll tend
but please stay with me 'til the end.
To hold me close and speak to me
until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will see
it was a kindness done for me.
Although my tail its last has waved
from pain and suffering I’ve been saved.

Please do not grieve that it was you
who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years
don’t let your heart hold back its tears.
thank you.. i miss my Sassy girl,, putting her to sleep was so hard

It is. But we always told our clients that their pet was lucky to have a mom or dad who was able to make such a hard decision and give their beloved pet that final gift that took pain and discomfort away.

Oh my goodness...brought tears to my eyes...I've had to do that a few times and it's very painful, but best for our beloved animals.

The hardest part for any of us who worked at the clinic was exactly what you described. We couldn't force the owners and we felt awful for the animals.

I sincerely wish I had had that option when my cat friend of 20 years started having seizures one morning. Unfortunately it was in the middle of a hurricane (not kidding Ike was no fun here) and we couldn't get her to the vet. She died within 24 hours of the first seizure. :(

I agree! A dishwasher should do it all, & without my help.
We are looking to get a new one, ours is about 25 years old and was leaking so we stopped using it. Looking at a Kitchen Aid with lots of nice features for $539 including installation at Best buy. After that a new range and over the range microwave. Oh and it has heated drying. From what I remember Kitchen Aid makes good dishwashers.

Dishwashers use water hotter than your hands can stand, so I feel safer with dishes that have been through the dishwasher.
Sterilized, but not clean. I guess I've never had a really good dishwasher.

It'ss too late now and I know it is hard to watch something like that. Our first old girl that got liver cancer probably from the meds she was having to take for her hips. We could barely get her in her kennel that night and the vet said to give her a hydrocodone which we had on hand and she was gone by morning. The other one that was a lot less active then Sadie was lasted 4 more years and when it was time I had a vet come to the house to take care of it. It was still really sad.

Whenever possible, I try to take da 'local'/back roads.
Jup! I know where I wanna be is that direction ~~~~~~~~~~>
so grab a road goin that way and see whatchya find on the way.

Spoke too soon. Power went out almost 3 hours ago, after the rain started being ridiculous.
hope it isn't out as long as think it will be. Can't like swamps etc. But I like Hardees. :D We don't have em here, but they were good when I was a kid.

As to da FP/BP very recent 'drama', it's an old and ongoing 'challenge'. Many of us on da porches have been/are/will be 'guilty' of 'straying'.

Since our 'tex' was invoked in the issue, I'll go as far as to say that I think he would be quite disappointed in any discouragement for our new porchers from learning, contributing and becoming cherished members of our porch family!

He was a gentle, caring and patient soul that brought many of us here together. In appreciation of his efforts, we also should gently 'guide' each other to the proper porch without any chance of 'guilt' or misunderstandings!

With that said, we do have one hellava gathering here that I ever so much love and appreciate!

Thank ya'll fer bein' you...
Very well said!

@kross8 hope the replacement chair functions better...

Can I get one of these in purple??? :p

We can meet at the Boardwalk & have some Starbucks, & visit on the Patio! You are closer to the Boardwalk than I am but I love the Boardwalk!
that will be so kewl! I don't think they had the boardwalk when I was down there. I left Galveston in 86. If it was there then I knew nothing about it.

You talking about the Boardwalk in San Antonio?
newp, that's the river walk. but it's another fun place.

thursday night is adult night.. rock the dock. every friday night in the summer is fireworks, on the 4th we sometimes grab a burger and park under the bridge and watch the big fireworks show for free. (i am a cheap date lol)
oh wow........that sounds fantastic! I love fireworks, but haven't really seen any good ones in about 5 yrs. I used to drive down and park at a bank up on hill, and we could see the ones from Ft Hood really well. But in 2012 I let my son trade my car in on one he was buying since we couldn't afford to fix it, so haven't had a car since.

Had dinner at my step sister's house tonight. Had a great time. Geordi and her lab Charlie had a blast olaying tug togethet, Tasha barked. We had a great talk about what happened in our lost lives, and hubby went along for the "ride". We will get together again before the week is over. Was the best evening I have had in a long time.
oh that sounds so wonderful! well cept for the subject, but hope that was cathartic talking about it. :)

Well, generator is hooked up so TV, fridge and microwave operating. All my batteries are chsrged. Life is good :)
Glad you at least have some power. Hope yours comes back on soon. That is certainly no fun.

It was a beautiful day here in Colorado Springs. We spent the afternoon strolling through Garden of the Gods with Katie, Huxley and Janet's sister. It was our first 'outing' with Hux. He's changed so much in the 2 1/2 months since we've seen him.
oh wonderful pics! Garden of the Gods is so beautiful. I've only been there once, but loved walking through it. Hux is adorable. Love the one of him snacking on "Grammy's" shoulder :) I know you're pop pop, but can't remember what Janet is.

I have only recently been able to stop the fear and tears, and am feeling more like myself.
So am gonna take my daughter and rent a tree house in the rainforest an hour away. Splurge on a massage for us bothMy goal is to make the hike to the waterfall. And come out of my funk. I'm not gonna let it ruin the things I can do, which is still a lot, if I pace it.
oh that'll be so nice!! So glad your anxiety is easing up. When are you coming to the states, and what part?

Ginny my wife was smoking 2 packs a day and quit almost 6 weeks ago and she would put the oximeter on and it would be like 84 or 85 now it starts at 92 or 93. Shes feeling better smelling things again like the stink from the cigarettes. Pretty amazing.
this is so fantastic to hear!! Really rootin for her and hoping it sticks this time! so great that her 02 is up quite a bit!

I'm 343 messages behind but,we are finally in Florida. We can't go to my brother's place in Daytona yet and the closest campground we could find is in Kissimmee near Disney. Nice place though. Kind of pricey. So nice that we are going to stay a cpuple of days just to relax then head over to Daytona for a few days before heading to Deerfield Beach. My Brother in Law checked on the house and says everything is fine. Lost power for a couple of hours is all. Well it's definately bedtime so I'll check in later. Thank you Gracie for letting everyone know we were ok. Later folks. Zzzzzzzzzzz:sleep:
Wahooooooooo so glad you're at least in Florida now. Very glad no damage to y'alls house down there. Now to sell the one in VA. Hope that happens quickly and smoothly, and y'all get settled in easily.

But, the Procyon and Radius are here to stay, as long as ProVape stays that is.
Jup. From what I've heard, ProVape isn't planning to fight anything, but just shut down when the poo hits the fan. I just hate seeing so many businesses devastated.

Yep. Especially with heat drying.
Jup! I think that's the part that does the most sanitizing! I have to use the DW cuz I just can't stand there long enough to hand wash, rinse, stack etc. I used to put a lil bleach in the dishwater when I hand washed, but really hate doing that. My dishes are "clean" before I put em in the DW, cuz I don't trust em to get all the stuff off, but I love em for the sanitizing part.

that is beautiful, but definitely a tear jerker. My dog and one of our bunnies had to be put down, and it's just heartbreaking. I think most of us have had to go through that. Huge hugs to all that have had to do that, or had a pet die.

Jup, apt dw's are garbage. I always just put water in, on the dishes. Nothing gets stuck except a bit on what I've cooked with. I use a scotchbrite scrubber, make sure all the gunk is off, put em in the dw and run it.

When I used to work graveyard shift, I would drive right by Six Flags and get to see a few minutes of fireworks. On the big fireworks nights (like New Years and July 4th), cars would be lined up for miles. You'ld have to get your spot early (and hope you didn't have to go to the bathroom in the meantime).

I guess it is or was a common thing for Bosch dishwashers not to have heated dry. The rinse is at 156 degrees with mine and lack of heated drying doesn't bother me much.

What does bother me is no electricity and phone battery almost gone. See you at the hotel!
