This drop-leaf end table is the other thing I have that my maternal Grandpa made. Tongue-and-groove joints, hidden nailheads, tapered legs, very well made. You're looking down from the top, with the clutter on the table and the non-cluttered drop leaf raised up. The leaf is the same size as the table top.
Dad inherited a sizable collection of fine old clocks from Grandpa, most of which were not working, and with a lot of work he was able get some of them running again. About 15 years ago he gave the remainder to the one of my brothers who could continue with the repairs (meaning the one who could afford to pay somebody for the expensive work) and a handful have once again become the works of art that they once were.
Well, the time has come for me to try and do enough tractor maintenance to get it going so I can cut my grass. I suspect I may be out there with my grass-trimmer-on-wheels doing emergency weed chopping before the tractor is running... just seems easier.
