thanks Deb. At least he will be with 2 of his sisters having a blast. I have to work....wish I could puppy sit for ya. But hope ya have fun at the show
that afternoon I got one of the pills out of the container that I'd put on the upper counter in the kitchen sometime between when i showed them to Amy and that afternoon.and managed to get it down her
Have to try those next time we have to drug the cat for our trip to Florida. Last time it was a nightmare!Pill can be a challenge...
One of ours - brother to my now departed avatar - has a thyroid condition, and gets a pill twice a day for that. (He's been on it for over two years now, and at age 14 still doing fine. Avatar had to be put down late spring...)
But the Pill Pockets work well. Come in Salmon and Chicken. Stuff the pill in, crush into a ball, and it's a treat. (They make them for dogs, too.) So, if the regimen has to go on long, might be worth looking into :0
I've always believed in "Quality of Life" .... let me suggest you invite all of us over for a "Family Boucherie" ..![]()
I knew I should have checked in the hangout this mornin before I went to the grocery...
had enough of it go through my fridge over the years would have told you to go look.
Whoops! Get my mind out of the gutter. My 1st read of your post and I thought you folks were getting quite familiar in the hangout and you were asking her to invite everyone over for some Family Debauchery.![]()
Nah... and the trick to getting them to keep the pill down once it's in is to give 'em a treat. Food pushes the pill on to stomach rather than is just sitting part way down the throat
As for getting the pill into the cat in the first place ... I suggest kevlar
nah you don't need a keeper???!!!
Not being much of a Pet Person, I will ask a stupid question .. why not just grind the pills up and mix .. ??[/Q
I don't think you're capable of asking a "stupid question", but I do think that cats, especially, are very slick and they have excellent noses, they'd smell it even ground up and stick their noses up at it. Tho I did outsmart Tukii earlier.... I put her liguid meds in a small serving of canned food /gravy and mixed it well...it musta smelled good to her cuz she ate it up!
Might not pull it off the next time tho...
Jup. Wear it for safety when working around cats.Kevlar?
Yep, as Mrs C said, they can smell and taste it. Sounds like an easy solution, but more often does not work. And some pills, like that tiny black pill, were almost impossible to crush. Even with a mortar and pestal (I tried!).Not being much of a Pet Person, I will ask a stupid question .. why not just grind the pills up and mix .. ??
