I knew you'd say that .. :) .. if the cans are the larger style, you could actually use a long shank spade bit and get a hole thru the joist that would be at an angle, yet still easily allow the romex thru .. of course, one joist deep would be the limit .. or, if there is no drywall above the tongue and groove, just gently remove it, mark each piece numerically, do the job and reinstall the ceiling .. I don't recon Janet would like that idea much because it would get messy .. :)

You got the last part right - no major mess in the near future for her kitchen. The root of the lighting issue is - where to shop. The box stores have a yucky selection. And there's only 2 actual lighting stores in our area. One had nothing we liked even if we were willing to spend a fortune. The other has one on our short list - but it's over $350. For a light, its just a light - come on.:grr:

The only thing we could do to get enuff kitchen lite was a 4 bulb 4 ft. fluorescent. They have a ton of fancy ones.

We have that kind already at one end of the kitchen. I'm thinking of just replacing the plastic and refinishing the wood frame. New bulbs wouldn't hurt either. Can remember how old they are - they may qualify for antique they're so old. Just replacing the bulbs would brighten that end of the kitchen.

They can be fine if you get full spectrum tubes as a replacement. I used to use them in my studio/room when I was sculpting.

Today is why I keep coming back here to all you wonderful people. Today, you all kept me sane, although what THAT really is right now remains to be seen.

Willie is a wise man, and when I first dealt with animal control this morning, I had to let go of my baser instinct to be a sarcastic beast. My mother taught me that you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. It was just that his attitude and the way he talked to me was unacceptable, and God knew what he was doing by keeping him out of my face. There will be a letter forthcoming to HIS boss. Poor soul, his name is on that ticket.

This afternoon, I had another 150 pounds lifted off my chest. I was sitting here contemplating a much needed nap, when there was a knock on my door. It was my next door neighbor.....the one I THOUGHT had called animal control. I barely cracked my door, and he saw on my face in an instant that I didn't want to talk to him. Right away, he let me know that he was NOT the one who had called animal control, and he went on to tell me the story. That was where a lot of my confusion came from in the first place. He and I have had discussions about my dog before, since he and his wife have two of their own. He was actually kind enough to inform me that my dog had gotten out one night and he put him back inside the fence. From the information the AC officer had given me, I had just ASSumed they were the ones who called. NOT the case. He, his wife and I stood up talking for the better part of an hour, and I told them I was giving Breeze away. Both of them exclaimed at once, "OH, NO you're NOT! Don't even consider it."

The whole story is too long to get into here, but the long and short of it is that they didn't call. They will help me any way that they can, and (bleep) the buzzard who from 2 football fields away claims my dog wakes him up every morning at 3 am. The solution is about 90% complete and my dog isn't going anywhere.

From the very bottom of my heart, thank each and every one of you for your support and listening to me moan and bellyache, but that little animal loves me unconditionally and has been a saving grace for me for the last five years. Yeah, I love him plain and simple.

That's the spirit Roto, that dog is family and some idiotic parish employee does not have final say on what the dog's future holds. I would think that if he actually tried to take your dog to a shelter that the shelter employees would take a look at the dog and then berate the azzhat for wasting time and resources on such an unnecessary call. Stick to your guns Roto, this will work out for you and Breeze.

Deb, thanks for the update on DH, sending positive thoughts and prayers that she will feel better soon.

Yes we are - the rain was so heavy I could see the edge of the property. Then the thunder-boomers moved in. May be starting to pass / let up now.

What he meant was that we COULDN'T see the edge of the property. I watched from the deck as it came through and it was pretty cool. It passed pretty quickly, but it was directly overhead while it was here. Lots of wind! Hope no trees went down in the area.

From the very bottom of my heart...

And a deep, kind and loving one it is, Sweet Lady!

Good for your neighbors and for your resolve. When we're blindsided, it is all too easy to 'jump' da wrong way. So glad that you now know you have those (locally & here) on your side!
Now... get your azz to da doc, especially with your loss of appetite and recent stress!

{{{Roto}}} Oh wow, I am SO glad to hear this. How nice of them to offer to help. They may be your perfect weapon against the whiney jerk down the road since they live right next to you. And, this may be the beginning of a new, pleasant relationship with them.

Finally caught up after being gone all day. Tomorrow will be pretty much the same, but my story is not what I am replying to.

Roto, I was going to reply to your desperate post, but decided to read on. I am glad I did. I was sooooo urked (and I have had enough of that lately) at your original post, I can't tell you how much joy and hope this gives me! Keep fighting my friend! And keep that Breezy where he belongs, with YOU!! Whew, sigh of relief.

Well, on another note, it is awful quiet around here tonight. Geordi is with his breeder, and Tasha and I are lonely. I miss his sweet face, Tasha misses his puppyness. No one to follow me to the fridge, sit cute and "ask" for an ice cube. No squeaky shoe bouncing through the house while I'm trying to think. It is only for the weekend. Tasha and I go to West Palm Beach to setup tomorrow and work a weekend dog show. We will be home Monday and the little bugger will be back making his mischief Monday night. But man, it's quiet... As for Geordi, he is spending the weekend at Camp Bijou Luisant with 2 of his sisters, his mother, grandmother, Dad, and cousins. Oh, and 2 legged Grandmother! (breeder). so I bet he doesn't miss us. Well, he might be missing that 8:00 pm biscuit.... Na, sister attack! They beat up on him and he just takes it. Until he has had enough.... but then it's back to "let's pick on Geordi!" Too funny!

Roto, dogs give so much love and joy, keep fighting! You will WIN!! And your heart will be filled. And more people than you will be celebrating.:banana::banana:

Great pictures lulu. A bunch of years back (pre-GPS) I was 'lost' on some back roads in Tennessee. I actually stopped at a store that looked very much like the one in your post. They gave me directions - but only if you lived in the area would you understand the landmarks they told me to look for. Just stepping onto the porch to talk to the old gents sitting on barrels was truly a time warp experience.

But anyway...yes, that was an exceptional example of how stoned he always was! For a long time I felt sorry for him but admire him for being such a great performer with such a devastating illness:D
Joe Cocker was still putting on a great show in his 60s. I saw him in 1970 or 1971 and then again sometime around 1995 which would have made him 51 at the time. The show was incredible both times. Here's a performance from 2002. If at any point you get bored, just move the slider up to the 4:00 mark.

A friend of mine and I built the deck around 20+ years ago. It really needs new decking but, I ain't paying for it. Painted it with that new Olympic Deck Restore stuff and, it looks pretty good don't you think?
Very nice! For my wooden steps that I built 22 years ago, I'm gonna need the version that comes with rose-colored glasses.

Get a written statement from him, saying so, and another from a friendly neighbor who has seen your brother around, playing with him and feeding and watering him. Take those written statements to animal control, and give them a piece of your mind while you are at it.

I plan on being very careful about how I deal with this. I'm still mad as hell about this, and I feel sarcasm bubbling up inside of me, BUT, my mother taught me that you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Although I'm still sleeping with my eyes wide open, I just placed the call to animal control, and the officer is out on a call. The lady told me she would email him my info and have him call me back. Now, I wait.

and it will all turn out well for you n your pup, but that neighbor is hateful.
So glad you used honey instead of vinegar and that things seem to headed toward a good solution, Roto!

I like tile, as you can probably tell .. I really did not want to spring for granite or what not and the look I was going for was Tuscany or some sort of Italian .. I learned how to do tile properly, I even bought a tile saw .. the cabinet fronts were made by the Amish and I made the backs .. normally, I would not mess with drywall, but it was a fairly small area that had to be re-covered and the drywall people wanted like a grand minimum .. and I know the "popcorn style" ceiling is apparently way out of fashion, but I like it so I went with it ..
You do nice work, Willie! How come no rosewood counters with inlays? :)

That officer needs to come out and see that your dong is not being mistreated.
Roto has a dong?

hehehe you know bout gittin that car pulled over don'tchya!!

Morning all! First time in this thread and just hoping all of you are having a great day!
Welcome!!! Recliners are welcome.... but the purple one in the corner is mine! So sad to hear what you're going through, but this is a great place with many supportive folks! We're happy to have you here. With Mike, would like to know more about your mods! For me, I'm a Reo user, just this year got into building my own coils, and now into DIY juice. Mostly did it so I could be self sufficient with my vaping, regardless of what states or feds do with vaping.
why 6 Months .. ?? I decided I wanted to pretty much do it all myself,
Wow Willie!!!!! That is gorgeous, and so kewl you could do all that yourself. Hope you have tons of fun cookin in dat kitchen! Don't get to cook much anymore, and I miss it!

Have you seen "Austin to Boston" on Netflix?
Got that one written down to look up

"If you are interested in participating in interviews, you should call Moffitt's Tobacco Research & Intervention Program at 1-877-954-2548.
Will definitely be calling about this.....thanks for the info. Would seem the more success stories we could get involved with this....the better!! Hope everyone will look into it.

hell, I should open a Match.com account .. ;)
Perhaps, but there might be a few that feel they have dibs, just sayin

I've concluded at this point, the only thing I can do is give the baby away.
Sooooooo happy this had a much better resolution!!! very glad that neighbor came to talk with you and that they are willing to help. this really made my blood boil again! First willie's story then yours, it's just awful what some folks do to others.

Janet.....Mike.....are you in the path of the storms moving through right now? If so, please take care.....I've got a severe thunderstorm watch, high winds and possible tornadoes for the next couple of hours....
Glad mike and janet are fine, hope you are too! No power outages etc.

Save that Confederate money boys, the South shall rise again!

Loved all those pics!!! I wish everyone could experience some of this. I grew up around a lot of these types of places, and cherish the memories of em! Thanks for posting that
