Growing up watching TV it apparently was the thing that most people in the USA when they retire move to Florida.
Was this ever true and if so does it still happen ?
Not so much folks from the south, but definitely folks from up north, particularly the east coast, but all over I imagine......Florida also has what they call snow birds, older retired folks that come from up north to spend the winter in Florida then go home for the summer

Don't know about the actual head count, but when I retired, we stayed put. Moved out of more southern climes to get away from the heat... although that seems to be following us up here these days.

Hate to break it to you (yeah, right!), but we each only have one birthday. The following ones are anniversaries.

So Happy Birth Anniversary to all who admit it! :w00t:

And a year off cigs is a BIG WIN!!! Congrats!!:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

It's Friday and it's almost 5pm. Yay!!!! I know, you are saying to yourself... What the heck is Pepper talking about?:D Friday and 5pm is a very special time for the Pepper. I am at the gym and follow a strict diet throughout the week, but on Friday, after 5pm, the Pepper may indulge in a beer... or 2. And we are almost there. The beer's in the cooler and the mugs are chillin'. Pepper will be consuming a double IPA from Double Dog with an ABV of 11.5%. Also, I have a brew from Yards Brewery: Thomas Jefferson's Tavern Ale with an ABV of 8%. I hope Deba doo is around tonight:D... and yes, the rest of you old people. However, it is poker night, so we'll see how much I am around.:)

The snow birds are one reason I tend to go down after Easter. There is a mass exodus at that time. I love the heat, so the months of April-October work for me. :)

Well I thought I would check in. Anyone who doesn't believe in Global Warming is either blind or crazy. We are having 90+ every day for 5 days or more. No one has AC we can't run ours because we don't have a good enough electric hookup. Breaking records here but these are not records set all in the same year but records of different years. It never stays hot here before. Sure they have a hot day in 58 or 55 but not continuous. I'm not supposed to be in the heat so it is making me feel really sh!tty. Also makes me very nasty and grumpy. It cools off at night but can't get out of it in the day.
Well Matt hope you made it. Big Seafair weekend here so not a good weekend to drive any where around Seattle. Freeway closures for the TBirds or Blue Angels not sure which plus the Hydro race. I'll bet there will be some heat strokes down at Lake WA where the big event is. There are so many people here it is crazy anymore. Lived here most of my life but moved away 17 years ago. Was watching the news last night and the average speed on the freeway was between 12 and 20mph. I wonder how that is in a car with no AC. I'm sure it causes a few irate people. Hope everything is going good for you Teresa. I know those first 6 months are a lady dog.

If not most, at least many. So, yes and <sigh> yes.

West Bradenton, just a hop (Cortez Rd) or skip (Manatee Ave) from AMI.

Cool, you are right there. One of my favorite places to drink a few beers, listen to some music, and have a grouper sandwich is the Cortez Kitchen.

Matt,

If ya made an announcement fer da reason of your 'sudden' trip, I missed it. If ya didn't, most of us here understand!

Regardless, prayers out to you and yours. If possible, don't let da stress get to you and your bride. Most of all, have a safe journey, my friend!
We're on the road. Doree is driving right now. Doree's brother called. Mom doesn't have a UTI and seems to be sliding downhill fairly quickly. Don't know if she is going to make it. She has a do not resuscitate order and it's not totally unexpected. Doree is handling it fairly well. She says her mother wouldn't consider this a life. Doree is a strong woman or she hides it well,.
We are in South Carolina and the GPS says we have about 8 hours more to go so with stopping for dinner it will probably be around midnight when we get there.
Thanks for all your support.
Iffy, I left the paper with Susan's address and the amount home. Can you please shoot me a PM with the info. Thanks.

Not most. People from the really cold areas retire anywhere warmer with shorter winters. Then in the summer they go back north where it's allegedly not so hot. See what I did there? Not so hot. Cracked myself up.

Fire up the generator and turn on the a/C. It's only gasoline. I have run the gunny on my MH for 4 days solid when at the races.
