I saw her in concert back in the mid 90's at a free show at Tower Records in Hollywood. She was just starting to get airtime on the radio out there and still playing little gigs like that. She was fantastic.

Iffy, sorry I had to run out on ya hun......just before you popped in we'd called and ordered some Thai food, and I had to go pick it up, so I left you a text msg but don't know if you saw it

I could never wear soft lens, either. I always had hard lens.
Now see I always had to wear soft lenses. They tried to give me hard lenses once, but they just didn't work, one kept popping out

Obviously the sleeping thing doesn't seem to be working tonight. I hate this. I really don't know why this is occurring. I'll check in later if I am still awake. Bye for now.
Yes, I'm stuck trying to get to sleep earlier & wake up earlier. It just isn't happening. Sometimes I can knock off earlier, & get to sleep, but more often than not it's 2 am or later before I can get there. I don't like sleeping till 9-9:30 am. I'd rather be up about 7, but don't want to use an alarm clock.

I had monovision contacts, too, & loved them. I had no problems at all with them. I can't wear contacts anymore because of the dry eye associated with the RA. I could never wear soft lens, either. I always had hard lens. Soft lens would dry out within seconds of putting them in, & they are so big they never fit on my eye right, but hard lens are smaller. I have tiny eyes. :w00t:
I went monovision for a while, despite dry eyes. But it made my muscle imbalance worse. One day I drove with the lenses in the wrong eyes, and that was downright dangerous. Went back to glasses. Today I got out some old reading glasses to do that coiling job.

I called the animal shelter to watch for a little alarm-dog. In a bigger place, with more people about, really need one. Gotta call my audiologist to ask for a letter saying that, since the place I am most interested in doesn't allow pets.
We are not entered in anything. Since I will be working alone (vendor) I wouldn't really have time. But it will still be fun! A sea of Tervs! Amd evenings will be great being able to just hang out.
Gonna be a real crab about that dog, not letting anyone else bond with her.

I get up without an alarm at 6:30 every morning, but often have trouble getting to sleep. Today I didn't take a nap, so should be better.

Saw this posting in another thread I follow. I just thought it was funny ....

I found out a couple things in last hour:
1) I'm not a plummer. (it's a simple faucet replacement...how hard can it be?)
2) When a cat comes under the sink to "help", that's not a good time to release the not-completely-empty cold water connection. Glad I had a sweatshirt on....now where did I put the Neosporin...?

I got soft lenses the first year they came out. I believe it was 1976 (my freshman year in high school--yeah, I know, I dated myself:D) or close to that. Once I had to have bi-focals/progressive lenses, it was just too difficult to get them to fit. I've been wearing glasses for the last 10 years and really prefer it. Thai food sounds delicious.

I am wearing bifocals now too, but I hate glasses. The thai place down the street is amazing!
Definitely look into lasic. It's a bit pricy... But if you plan on being in my area for a couple of weeks, you justo come in about a month before for the exam and consultation, then come to Disney for a couple of weeks, Friday, he does the lasic, you come back on Monday for a follow up...
And up to 5 of my friends gets $1000 off by mentioning my name!

The 3D lasic is wonderful!! My vision was immediately better. No glasses, or contacts, or reading glasses... Need a magnifying lens for small stuff, but at our age, you need that anyway.
For the first 6 months or so, there was a rainbow around all night-time lights, but was pretty rather than anoying. And you don't have to take drugs to get the effect!

Oh, ya. Forgot the status on the PC I put in the shop Saturday. They started diagnostics on Sunday, and had extended memory turned off with a constant-use programming working all the way through Wednesday.
With no issues.
No crashing at all.

Conclusion: nothing wrong with the PC, so for some reason putting it in my lap is blocking the vents now (when it never did before) and causing it to overheat... Causing the blue screen of death.
I guess that as ugly as I am, I'm still too hot for some.
I got a lap desk with built in fan, so hope that fixes things up.
Won't be in the hangout ip up til next week anyway, because tomorrow is getting. Ready and packing to go visit the parents for Mother's Day weekend.

I've been a camera guy since I was 13 .. I bought my first "real camera" in Tokyo, Japan when I was on R&R in the service .. for many, many years, I longed for my own darkroom but never talked myself into actually making one ...

So, fast forward to the Digital Age .. I bought into it immediately by dropping around $600 on a Sony Digital Mavica in the mid 1990's or so .. a whopping, if memory serves, less than 1 megapixel unit that stored on 3.5" floppies ... yet, a surprisingly good camera with some fast glass (low light capable) ... I was then able to realize my dream of my own darkroom ... although I don't like the complexity of Photoshop, I do use a very old software called Photo Impact, since I know it inside out .. I also use Lightroom ..

I don't consider phones to be real cameras .. a photographer that's serious about it uses a tool fully designed to do the task at hand, made specifically for that task .. although I have to choke when I say it, there are good phone photos ..

BTW, Janet .. my brain just flashed on the Stained Glass that you got into a while back .. how far did you go with it .. ?? I love stained glass .. a few years back, I spent a year, one day a week, taking photos of any and all stained glass within Churches in a 100 mile radius of my locale ..
Willie, Some of the new phones are so close to pro cameras it's scary. LG has come out with a phone with 20mp, optically stabilized camera with quite good low light capability. The control software is actually written with advanced amateurs/pro news folks in mind. Pretty amazing actually. I have some photos taken with my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 that are amazing. Several of which I have enlarged to almost poster size and they look great. Some of the flower pics I posted last year fall into that category. Not there yet but, every bit as good as most of the point and shoot cameras out there already. Just saying, in case you haven't been keeping up with the newest phone stuff. I'll send you a couple of links in the morning to a couple of articles reviewing some of the new ones.

yeah I'd love to do that some time, or maybe prk not sure. My nephew had prk done several years ago. Not sure which is beter. He had to have that one done instead of lasik because of diving. But......I'd have to win the lottery or something for that to be a possibility. Hope you enjoy your trip.

No I think it was the gunk on the wire that caught fire. It was enough for me to decide not to do it any more. Kanthal never does that. I would just as soon build another coil
I get small fires just about everytime I dry burn my kanthal coils. Of course they are pretty gunked up by then. It's no big deal though. That's the whole object to dry burning is to reduce the gunk to ash so you can just blow it off.

I had my first dry burn "fire" the other day. Vaping fruity juices, my coils aren't usually too gunked cuz I dry burn and rewick every 2-3 days. But yeah the other day it was very gunky, and it was a tiny bit of flame several times when I dryburned. One piece of gunk just didn't wanna burn up lol

Enjoyed seeing everyone at the Hangout! The hours fly by when I'm there. Which is why I'm not there tonight. I've got to get caught up! Not even close yet, so gotta make some headway. I haven't even looked at the Front Porch in a week!
Me neither, I'm kind of ignoring it. I am really happy at the moment with both gear and juice so I don't find it as important as the back porch.

Same here. I feel really guilty if I am not moving around by 8. Doree says it's no problem but I sense a little bit of tude when I don't get up till around 10.
