I got soft lenses the first year they came out. I believe it was 1976 (my freshman year in high school--yeah, I know, I dated myself:D) or close to that. Once I had to have bi-focals/progressive lenses, it was just too difficult to get them to fit. I've been wearing glasses for the last 10 years and really prefer it. Thai food sounds delicious.
Graduated in 1975. Went into the Navy same year. Been wearing no line (progressive) bifocals for over 20 years now. I really like them. By moving my head up and down just a little bit I can get just about anything into focus.

the glasses I have now aren't quite as bad because they're titanium wire rim that only go around the top. There's something like fishing line around the bottom of the lens, so the biggest weight, are the lenses themselves, but I get really bad headaches from glasses, not only the weight on my face, but also, glare from lights. My eyes are super light sensitive. Can't even have a room light to the side or in front of me, they have to be behind me, or have something blocking the bulb.

I had monovision contacts, too, & loved them. I had no problems at all with them. I can't wear contacts anymore because of the dry eye associated with the RA. I could never wear soft lens, either. I always had hard lens. Soft lens would dry out within seconds of putting them in, & they are so big they never fit on my eye right, but hard lens are smaller. I have tiny eyes. :w00t:
I had a glare in the left corner of my left eye when I had monovision contacts. It turns out that was probably due to cataracts, so when I had my lenses replaced, that glare no longer existed. I researched my .... off and asked a zillion questions in order to figure that out before opting for monovision with my lens replacements. I was proud of myself for doing the research and asking the questions, and changed the original plan.
The SX-M class and DNA40 boards are designed to work w/ very low Ω coils. When using like a .14Ω coil on a DNA40 mod you're well within the design limits of the circuit board. Put that .14Ω coil in a mech and you're pushing the limits of most batteries.

For instance:

On a DNA40 a .14Ω coil at 14 watts the boards 'bucks' the batt to 1.4 volts drawing 10 amps from the battery.

On a Mech Mod a .14Ω coil assuming only 3.8 volts under load to the coil, draws 27 amps from the batt (103 watts). Can you say "kaboom" is likely.

I tried to dry burn nickel once at very low wattage it caught on fire. In fact I think I tried to do it at 580degrees highest the M goes. Easier to rebuild.
Guess y'all misread me. I said that Legs was a subohmer. Y'all answered the question "why is subohming on a mech dangerous?" but that question was not asked.

C pluses for all of you but only because I'm feeling generous. C plus for Matt too, whose similar comments I thought I had quoted but did not.:p

What is this? High School again... Nevermind, based some of the comments (mine included) I think it might be. Wasn't that a great time in our lives?

Hi, Porchers! Just got home from work and started reading and realized I may never catch up. So, I figured I'ld just go ahead and say Hi! now.

That's the best article I've ever read on sleep. Thanks.

Ok. Back to reading/trying to catch up.
Hello my Dancing friend. Obviously I am having another night of little sleep. Going to go read that article right know.

Sorry you can't sleep, Matt.

My daughter just informed me that she has to get up at 6 am and that I get the honor of staying awake to get the grandkids to school. So, if I hurry up and get some sleep (Yea, right!) and take a nap later after I drop everyone off at school in the morning (after not being able to go back to sleep for a few hours, I might just get enough sleep to make it through work tomorrow evening. Maybe.

Talk about messed up circadian rhythms!

I wish they had a variety of like buttons. You know like.. Like sorta, don't like, hate it, so sorry and such. I actually just use like to note that I have read the post and have noticed a lot of folks here do the same. Anyway, don't like yours. Wish we both could rid ourselves of these damn sleeping problems. I know for a fact (and that article proves it) that this sleeping problem isn't helping us at all. Try to sleep and try to have a nice day tomorrow. I know I am going to. I have a lunch and Movie date with my lovely spouse tomorrow. We're going to go see the new Avengers movies and then go out for lunch. There is a little place in Hampton called Goody's that serves marvelous sandwiches. Probably has one of the best Reubens anywhere. Getting hungry just thinking about it, don't have my uppers in so there is nothing to stop the drooling, hate that!:lol:

Good day and good morning .. a Letter to the Hole in the Wall Gang, my fellow cohorts ..

Last night, as a select few, the Proud, the Unflinching, the Throw Caution to the Wind Gang, gathered at Deb's Place (I officially nominate that as the Nom de guerre (he spoke French) .. a brief recap is warranted, no it's not just warranted, it's demanded ..

This being my second (having lost my viginity as it relates to the Hangout Sunday) .. let me first and foremost encourage any and all, vets and new alike and anything in between, to give serious thought to dipping your toe into this Brave New World .. is it just me, or did I feel a bond even closer than we may have bonded here .. ?? And not because I polished off a 16 OZ 30 proof Margarita (or whatever Johnny called it) during the course of the, I think 3 hour, yes folks, 3 hour gathering ..

Roto .. you are priceless .. flipping into that Cajun accent was smile time for me, and that .... wiggle as you were in front of your sink or whatever .. pure solid 24 karat Gold .. :)

Johnny, first, your nose and forehead are not (at least on camera) aircraft runway proportional .. ;) .. however, the size of your Heart would make the Tin Man proud .. and, as an added bonus, you're pretty good with a one liner ..

Deb, you already know what I think of you and it's all, all good .. :)

Pat "Legs the Bionic Man" .. you are officially awarded with the Certificate of Merit for the funniest moment of the night .. the removal of your leg, and subsequent waving it at the camera in a "I will kick your ***" move was not just golden, it was platinum with diamond encrustation .. your Kung Fu is strong .. very strong ..

Dave .. I really, really wanted to hear so much more from you .. although you may think I'm blowing smoke, it was actually one of the reasons I decided to join in .. what little I did get was all good, man .. looking forward to expanding our mutual understanding of each other in the future .. :)

Matt, my "Brotha From Another Motha" ( I actually have several here, it's not an exclusive club, pretty nice, none the less) .. "Cinco de Mayo" and raise a glass .. ;)

Which brings me to Kenna .. you, girl, are "A Free and Gentle Spirit" .. you have Soul in much greater quantity than most mere Mortals .. that said, since I am not adverse to blackmailing, below is just a taste of what's coming .. you'll need to get my PayPal account instructions in order to send the Ransom money, or the next pic is going to be you in that Pink Tutu with the Mink Handcuffs and the Whip .. ;)

And you, Willie, are an awesome, gentle, man! These visits are so much fun, everything we have here carries over there in spades. I see Willie caught my Pirate Librarian alter ego. And that was without wine! That was the result of playing with the Google Effects while we were talking. That is so funny! Now I've got to go find a flight to somewhere east of St. Louis so I can play dodge the pool balls while I chase Willie around his pool table in my pink tutu with my mink handcuffs!

Oh, and yes, I know "What Happens at the Hangout Stays In The Hangout" .. so my very brief recap was simply a synopsis .. also, as a sign of the good Karma of Spring and Summer, this morning I got out a step ladder and crept up into a tree and snapped this shot ..

Well, Mom was away on likely a food gathering flight, so I had a limited time with which to act .. I'll add that I put out one Hummingbird feeder 2 weeks ago, and finally the first appeared .. very thin, and quite hungry .. puttin' out the other 4 this weekend .. here's one from last year :

Oh, that's beautiful! I've found some little handfeeders for Hummers on Etsy. Thinking of ordering a few for me, & to share with our housekeeper. I'm teaching her about plants & Hummers. We've each only seen one so far this year. :(

No I think it was the gunk on the wire that caught fire. It was enough for me to decide not to do it any more. Kanthal never does that. I would just as soon build another coil
I've had gunk flame up before when I dry burn. It's not the wire burning, & no cotton in the coil, it's just gunk drying up & burning off.

OK, wait... you say you don't subohm but I KNOW that you've been talking recently about making and using nickel coils that are under 0.1 ohms. Unless you've been misplacing the decimal point, that does not compute.
Thanks for that, Bells. I was thinking I was imagining things again! :)

What did you get? I order my 2 of my adv's from them every month, & then like you I'll try new one's from there. They have such a huge selection of brands. Check out Cotto's Revenge. That's my favorite, & Cotto's Sophisticated is another one. I dilute the flavor on that one so 30 ml lasts me a long time. I plow through the Revenge, tho.

Three from Jimmy the Juice Man - French Raspberry, Peachy Strawberry and Creme Brûlée (b/c it has banana in it :)); two from Alpha/Omega - Chronos (white chocolate, cream) and Miss White (passion fruit tea); and King's Crown Fight Your Fate (strawberry & lemon). Wanting some lighter and more tart juices for the warm weather ... Except for first thing in the morning, when I really like a creamy vape with my coffee, the heavier stuff is a bit much with the heat. I keep hoping to find an ADV, but it seems unlikely; too many flavors appeal!

Good morning, Porchers! Hope your day is filled with all good things!

Good Morning Everyone.

Hey Fran - how are you this morning?

Up late in the hangout with a few folks. It is fun and really does allow a lot of posts to be saved over just a few minutes time. (LOL)... I could not imagine the size of thread if we had all of those conversations on this thread. (LOL). We would have to close the thread every other month. :w00t::lol::thumb:
