Meet Me in St Louie Louie
2nd Letter to my Fellow Partners in Crime AKA the Denizens of Deb's Den of General Mayhem and Last Bastion of Democracy as We Know It ..

Last night, I turned in about an hour after making my exit .. making it something a little after 1:00 AM Central .. I flicked my reading light on, as I always do, put on my glasses and picked up "Lie Down in Darkness" by William Styron .. I've read it several times over the years .. a Gothic flavored novel that ranks up with anything written by Hemmingway or Steinbeck .. I read a few pages, as the book requires a slow read in order to think and savor the rich story and superb writing of Styron ..

As I began to doze off, putting my glasses back on the nightstand and turning off the light .. I folded my arms across my chest and let my mind drift for several moments, thinking about our Brave New World and the fine folks that I am so honored to have had the opportunity to interact with here in our Small Corner of the Cyberverse .. for a moment, I think something must have gotten in my eye, and it was more induced by joy than sorrow ..

So, a deeply heartfelt thanks .. to all of you, "Here, There, or In the Air" (as TX would say) .. as I grew older, I drifted into more and more isolation, insulating myself for whatever reason .. sharing what we have shared has, in an unexplainable way, begun to restore what can only be called Hope .. it's not just the fact that I now hear and see those that visit here, it's the whole three and a half years that regularly remove another brick from the wall I built, a wall that I now know I am happy to tear down ..

Lastly, as a self admitted Non Believer, I find myself, ironically, with the only word that perhaps most captures my feelings .. and that word is Blessing ..

At any rate, after recovering from a self induced haze of Tequila and what shall not be mentioned here .. I think the brain cells I was using to store the suggestions were the same cells that died out last night .. sooooo ..

I think we almost had ya talked into an iStick 30W and, since ya wanted a plug n' play topper, an Aspire nautilus. If ya get da iStick, I'll toss in a Naughty and a box of BVC coils with da cartos I promised.

BTW, da cartos are unpunched.

LMK...

I'm always willing to do my part in helping clean out the Garage as payment for your more than generous offer .. when you look up the word "Freeloader" in the Dictionary, my name appears .. :)

Man, I was thinkin' I can't wait for the opportunity to just sit and enjoy all of you in the hangout. Then you go and get technical on me. I used a lot of doo hickies and thingamajigs and whatchamacallits while I was a computer tech for 20+ years. Now that I have gone to the dogs life is a lot simpler.

And UW, you are one of several I look forward to meeting. Yes, the few I have had the pleasure of meeting really changed, strengthened, the honor I feel at being accepted so warmly into this fine group. The hangout just makes everything feel REAL. Not just good friends on a forum. REAL people willing to share.

Thank you.

I just went back in time and listened to Uncle Willie's post of Bruce Springstein My Father's House. Reminds me of when my Dad passed away.

My Dad had a pacemaker. Years before I found a "joke" in Reader's Digest that said "Show me a man with a song in his heart and I will show you a man with an AM/FM pacemaker". We had good chuckle and it was always our joke. Dad played guitar (so does my brother) and we would sing by the campfire when we camped as young tykes.

One morning I was at work and about 10:30 am that joke popped into my mind. Again and again. Why so sudden was this happening? That afternoon I received a phone call from my step-mother. Dad died from an aneurism at 10:30 that morning.

Weird, and still sticks in my brain. This was about 34 years ago. My son was the only grandchild he got to hold and play with. My son is named after my Dad. I will always miss him.

Enough of the sad stuff!!! Back to the fun!

Yep, but how lucky you are to have the fun and loving stuff too!!

FWIW... gearbest is in china. And actually FT is quicker!

crossing off list .. I refuse to buy anything from China .. even knowing that much of what we buy originates from there I would still much rather fork over my dough to at least a place that is within the USA (or our friends in Canada .. :) )

Willie, yep, you sure are blessed as are the rest of us. And we are truly blessed to have you here!

The music was wonderful as usual. Haven't heard Coat of Many Colors for a long time and I love it.

Oh, and I think you're going to like the iStick if you decide to go for it. It's pocket friendly and I'm sure it'll fit in your fanny pack nicely!

Yes, my guard stood hard when abstract threats
Too noble to neglect
Deceived me into thinking
I had something to protect
Good and bad, I define these terms
Quite clear, no doubt, somehow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I’m younger than that now

The only thing I can add is this .. I would love to hear some thoughts from anyone regarding, er, the best word I can think of is protocol .. last night, I think we peaked out at maybe 8 people .. the way Google has this working, to me anyway, it's much like an old school CB Radio .. when a person jumps in with commentary, the feed seems to cut off anyone that may have been talking .. thus, it feels sometimes like those that may be less assertive in voicing something get relegated to the background .. last night, I really, really wanted to hear more from Dancing / Kenna / Metal Storm / (0m as well but she had some equipment problems) as well as Dave (BigBells) ..

I'm not slamming anything or anyone with what I'm going to say next .. Does it seem like the larger the group, the more likely the more outspoken will tend to dominate .. ?? And, if so, is that off putting to those that would like to talk more yet may feel they are being too aggressive or just want to be polite .. ?? I honestly tried last night to just be a good listener and interject when it seemed appropriate, however, I probably failed miserably .. I just don't know, but I don't want to think some of us are not giving others adequate opportunity .. it just seems like a fine line and I'm probably overthinking it like I tend to do ... does any of this make sense .. ??
