Good Morning (Afternoon) all. Good night's sleep last night and half of today! Doree wasn't exactly thrilled but, hey, watcja gonna do? I feel better anyway. Back to braces the knees but, they're helping so I can't complain. I thought warm weather was supposed to make em feel better but, then again it's 65 degrees out today. First week of June! Whodda thunk it.

A true story I enjoy telling:

In 1987 we had a family reunion in Missouri. (Why Missouri? Because none of us live in Missouri, of course!)

Anyway, my sister attended but her husband did not. (Both of them, like me, tend to be homebodies, and SOMEBODY had to stay home with the den of lions, er, cats.)

So when my BIL took my sister to the airport in Pittsburgh for her flight to St Louis, he asked her to call him when she landed so that he'd know she was all right.

My sister's response?
"Just watch the 11 o'clock news".

Oh dayum!! I did get ahold of her later in the morning. She assured me she would let me know when she arrived in Indianapolis, which should be around 6:30 this evening.

It appears that my friend is out of danger! What an absolute relief! She was weak as a newborn kitten this morning, but this afternoon, she perked up a bit. With all the meds she's on, she's very hazy and confused, but that should pass with time.
They're even thinking of releasing her tomorrow!

Thank you all so much for your kind wishes and prayers......they work!!! :)

So sorry for your loss! It's tough when we have to do what's best for our furbabies, but at least she's not in pain anymore.

Good morning to everyone else on the Porch!

I'll be a bit preoccupied today as my dear friend was admitted to the hospital with septicemia from a cat bite. So, we're keeping a close vigil and prayers for her would be most appreciated....
Praying for your friend. Those cat bites can be nasty - my friend has had to go thru several rounds of multiple antibiotics for bites from her cat.

Kari, I'm sorry but, I have to say that if I had to go through several rounds of multiple antibiotics from bites from my cat I think I would pretty much be catless. I love my animals but, if they bite the hand that feeds them, they're history.

I agree - she has had that cat for I think 17 years. I think it is because she is so old - that at times if approached wrong - my friend gets bit. She just cannot make the decision to let her go - which I know is hard. Every time she thinks it time - she somehow rallies. The at least two times in the last few years the bites have been really bad and sure hope she doesn't end up like Gracie's friend.

great news!!!

Daughter and grandkids popped in at lunchtime and ended up staying all day. In and out of the pool, in and out of the kitchen. Fun, fun, fun, but no writing got done.

Has anyone seen the new commercials for KFC? They've got an actor playing Col. Sanders. They are actually embarrassing. The real Col. Sanders (RIP) is spinning in his grave. I can't believe they're running them.

I agree!! That guy does not even resemble the Col. nor does he sound like him. They could have done better, or just leave the man's legacy alone.

When an animal starts to bite when surprised, it's usually because it's in pain. Or, so I've heard.

I agree here too! And Gracie, glad your friend is doing better. It is so hard to let them go, but sometimes it is for the best. Not an easy decision to make.

I'm glad to hear she's recovering quickly. We've had cats most of of lives ... I didn't even know a cat bite could be dangerous. But then we've never had an horny cat that bit people.
