Never under estimate a 4 yr old. Our neighbors had their grandson visit for a few days. They decided one day to let him take a nap in the master bedroom - big mistake - he locked himself in the bedroom - now I do not mean just the standard door lock, but the extra electronic security bolt system they had installed when they turned their master bedroom into a secure room - steel door and all... They had to call in someone to cut through the wall to get into the room.

He should not have been unable to set the system (it was out of his reach and complicated), but an adventurous 4 yr old left with enough time to test and try - can figure anything out.

3 cheers for the youth of today...

Several years ago we found a great deal on a couple of bikes so we brought them home. Didn't work out, however, because we live on dirt roads with several small hills and was too hard to get anywhere. Oh well, we thought it was a good idea at the time
If you have a truck or a bike rack, you could always take them somewhere cool to ride.

I'm very lucky. The neigborhood behind us is fairly flat; there's a park not too far from us that has miles of bicycle trails; and, access to the Greenway system of bicycle trails (which I just noticed has a section that goes from the nearest public park all the way to the park I mentioned above!).

So, I could ride for hours with only the first and last mile and a half of it on actual streets!

I'm getting myself excited!

Wow!! no comfort at that point knowing that at least the room was very secure. Reckin ya can't really have overrides for those, or the crooks could override em

I asked the same thing, but they avoided the extra cost - probably reconsider that decision now. I do not really know them that well - my good friend neighbor told me the story...

JMHO: the author of the article says he's "no Luddite" and then spends the rest of the article documenting what a Luddite he is.

If not.....might be worth goin 14 karat crazy on em!
Why stop at 14 karats?

I beg to differ! Certainly show quality, and glad you showed her!

Other than getting locked in the bathroom after my shower
I don't understand inside locks that can't be opened manually on interior doors. Wouldn't meet new construction fire code in most places.

I got a new mountain bike over a year ago. I've ridden it 4 times, maybe 5. I was going to ride it a couple days ago out to my mailbox. Fortunately, I decided to adjust the seat height before getting on, because that's when I discovered that some wasps had built an abode in the seat bottom. Could have been a lot more painful to discover that after I'd gotten on. Sprayed it and put off the bike ride.

My reason for not riding my bike more: getting out to a paved road (where my mailbox is) involves 800 feet uphill on my dirt path, then a third of a mile on a rough gravel road. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I do have the knobby all-terrain type tires though, which makes it easier than if the bike had slicks.

In other news:
Forgot to put my PV in my pocket when heading to DUI class today. Three and a half hours with no vape. Survived it a lot more easily than I thought I would. Just wasn't jonesing for it near as bad as I would have been jonesing for a cigarette when I used to smoke.

In a very short period of time, I've become spoiled by Tivo. Can't stand to watch Law and Order without it now, and it sure makes it easier to keep up with the plot now that I can fast forward through the commercials instead of having my attention dulled by them.

Oh my goodness ... maybe they need the fire axe I posted for Rat2.

We're close to a rails-to-trails bike path. It's really nice being able to ride off street and enjoy the ride instead of paying attention to cars and trucks on the roadways. A 10 mile ride gets me to a really good ice cream shop. A stop there can help me replenish the lost calories from pedaling the bike. :)

Sounds like a nice ride. Man after 10 miles, ok, first, I'd just be dead. But if I wasn't, someone would have to come pick me up, cuz I wouldn't leave there without a couple gallons of ice cream as a reward!! hehehe

Can't anybody read a zip code? why do we have them?

Think I'll just go to bed, pull the covers over my head and never come out again
Now that sounds kinda like the DHL I'm used to! :(

See. what you need is a bike rack. Drive to a good spot for biking and ride them there. We have lovely trails here (our tax dollars at work!) that go from Phila up into Reading and maybe beyond by now. The road to get there is too dangerous to ride on so we drive our bikes there and then ride. Works great.

Does UPS have trouble finding you? Maybe you need to talk to someone about how your address is listed? Or have you looked up your address on the GPS to see how it's listed there? Could be throwing them off. Just guessing here.

Are you sure the earth hasn't shifted and you don't live where you thought you lived? ;)

wow, I'm so sorry that happened. I don't get it, you'd think they'd be able to figure it out, but increasingly things like this are happening. Perhaps it's younger kids working there that really don't know their numbers and letters.

Oh NO! I thought you had received that package.........if you didn't, I'd be putting the covers over THEIR heads, not yours!
