First off, thanks to Janet H for the welcome!
As someone who smoked for over 45 years, I think I am eligible to sit here for a while.
Haze- I have heard of just such a grassroots effort to get the good word out. It is called the American vaping Association. They are trying to engage with a PR and Lobbying firm to spread the good news about vaping in the media as well as DC.
Also, I don't think anyone has appointed Phil as commander-in-chief, but I for one have found his no nonsense reviews and technical expertise invaluable learning tools during my first six months of vaping. And sometimes he's kinda humorous!
As far as safety goes, I'll take my chances with something that has 4 known ingredients versus the hundreds of nasty things in tobacco cigarettes.
Having the devil in the room is always helpful to keep us thinking about and looking at what we are doing. I find it enlightening to hear all sides of the arguments and then making my own informed decisions.
Hi Jake and welcome
This is the type of forum that really brings out the best of us. I never knew about the AVA, first time here and sounds great. and yes, vaping is obviously a better solution to analogs any day.
I have been a smoker since 1973-74'(I feel like im on an AA meeting..lol) and still to this day still smoke them, but way less than before as Vaping is carefully moving them out. Hope my openness about smoking does not sway any dislikes towards me. Unfortunately I go through my life with quite more stress than most people typically do.
I did quit analogs back in 2000, but unfortunately it caused more harm to me than smoking. The first week brought about the worst anxiety imaginable. At the time I should have taken a prescribed med for easing my way out but didn't heed the warning. I quit "cold turkey" as it were, my will power is way more in control than most. But at a price..........
The first three weeks brought about the amazing sense of smell and taste. i was having an orgasm while at the supermarket sniffing a peach.
My lung capacity exceeded and I could breathe better air
The bad.........
Went to Wendy's each night and ate triple decker burgers...I went from 145 to 310LBs in less than three months. My health was deteriorating. I was able to bring it back down a bit but, that was it. I am now at 143LBs
For the next five years I was smoke free. Anyone near me smoking reds I would get nauseous.
The last two years after quitting I had the most vivid nightmares you can only imagine. waking up screaming(and im not that much into allowing fear to run through me).
after that, it was complete smoke free. how I returned back to analogs is another story and I will not bore anyone on here.
as to Phils' "disclaimers" - people still believe it, regardless if a big sign and radio button under his videos to accept the terms were available, he is not nor ever will be any kind of authority, nor should he "imply" that its healthy. true its heali-er, obviously better than analogs any day, but every reviewer stating its "their opinion" makes no difference. people will believe what they want to believe.
